- J Alexander is a model, runway coach, author, designer and reality tv personality best known for his work on America’s Next Top Model.
Growing up in the Bronx, J Alexander (known as Miss J) was always a creative innovator. ”I didn't want to wear hand me down clothes... So anything that I was given from my older brothers, I would create something new, cutting, stitching, adding layers.”
Alongside his sister, J went to school to be an accountant - although his corporate career didn’t last long. “Once I discovered high heels, taffeta, lace and crinoline… girl forget about it.”
A chance encounter with a modelling agency led to a career on the runway. There he met fresh model Tyra Banks and began to give her walking lessons. Banks coined his title Queen of the Catwalk. His accidental career as a backstage runway coach took off and led him around the world casting and coaching models for countless top-name designers - and as a personality on the hit series, America’s Next Top Model.
When asked about the key to his success, J credits a genuine passion for fashion, confidence, authenticity and self-love.
“None of this stuff that I’m doing came with a guidebook. It was just trial and error, hard work, and believing in myself. I think that the ingredient in my DNA that has made me successful is the ability to stay true to myself.”

Until today no idea who Miss J was. I was on an astrology page and it told me I was born exact same day and time as Miss J. We are Astro twins but we couldn't be so different. Well in lives anyway and so the idea you run similar lives can't be true. I was born in UK, I was a social worker for most of my life and I certainly could not have been a model! Anyway just saying.
