My first cat was one abandoned by its owners when they moved. They paid me to feed there cat over the summer when they were on vacation. As soon as they came back they moved. Leaving the cat behind. I found her some weeks later when a neighbor found the poor kitty bone thin and dehydrated. I took her in and my love of cats began

Really glad you took her in! Some cats really aren’t able to suddenly just live outside with no protection after being raised in a warm home for so long, for some reason certain people don’t seem to understand that.
That cat is like: WOAH This Humans's got wheels I can stay on her lap forever and never have to get up.

It's the best feeling ever when you can get a kitten or cat adopted! Our Kenzo just went to his forever home yesterday, and Fluffy and Chip got adopted a week ago! So happy but sad at the same time...

I don’t understand how they can do it! My pets are very much a part of the family and a huge consideration in where we move.
I had to move and my PRIMARY consideration was can my cat move in too. She’s my baby. She’ll be with me for her whole life.
That’s how I got one of my cats. Just dumped. Awesome cat. The neighbours were abusing her too. She was so malnourished, but still full of life and joy.
@@CatManChrisPoole - I have one who was abandoned. I got him at 1.5 years. He's now 13 and currently spooning with me like he does every night. He's been the most amazing cat. Kinda glad someone abandoned him, they missed out on a lot.

When I'm in bed or in the recliner it takes seconds for one of my 3 cats tip steal my wheelchair. They love the memory foam seat. 😻

Chris made me cry. You do such good things for kittens💜 I just took a cat off the streets on Sunday. I could tell she was a house cat at some point in her life. She is adjusting to her new indoor life with me and my other cat and dog. It's been rough getting everyone to get along but I am so happy she's inside and safe.

Even though it was obvious he was abandoned, he was still trusting which means he wasn’t out there on his own long enough. Perfect timing on the rescue. 💕
Being a paraplegic , this is the greatest story . I foster neonate kittens so they all get really us to wheelchairs. I love that this gorgeous boy now has a forever home .

I cried when I saw who adopted him. It is so great that he was so patient and not skittish around her chair. They make an awesome team.
I'm so happy for them. A match made in heaven. I'm a 21 yr rescuer. remember white cats are known to be deaf. this is a heads up only for his safety. Same here, I used to get bad nightmares after seeing/hearing stories of animal abuse. But watching Chris's channel and other animal rescue stories has helped, just so glad theres so many great loving people who care enough to put in all the work to rescue and find homes!

In Germany, outdoor (not feral) cats seem to be more common, so I meet some almost every day. It's so cute when you are on your way to work and suddenly a random kitty talks to you. Happened to me twice yesterday, on my ten minute walk to the bus. 😍😀

@@Eskapismus while it's a fun and enjoyable experience to have a conversation with someone elses free roaming cat, it is a problem that people let them out to roam and horrible as a professional driver to pass up to half a dozen cats killed in traffic each day.
I've even passed one that had been recently killed and beeing eaten by an eagle in a harvested field.
Seeing people abandoning pets like that always breaks my heart. They're family, not a toy.

This is a true story. A year into a relationship with a man I thought was a good person, he happened to mention he left his cat in the street after he moved last. I moved out that week. You have to have a screw loose to do that.
Glad you left! I rescued a lamb while living in the city and literally sold my home to buy property for that lamb. Then found another lamb to keep him company and we're still living happily ever after. I'd drop anyone who didn't treat animals with care and respect.

2 of my 3 cats were abandoned by my house and one was 2lbs and literally starving to death when he came looking for food. They're now happy and healthy and with me in their forever home. So glad there's people like you Chris who helps cats 💖

Cats choose you not the other way around. Our Josie is a rescue kittie. We started feeding her 2 summers ago thinking she was a feral cat. It took me 6 months for her to come up to me. We finally brought her in one cold Canadian winter night and she’s never left. Right from the beginning she’s been my husband’s cat, she just loves him. I always say to her “but I saved you.” She’s a beautiful long haired torti and when we took her to the vet they told us she was from the local TNR program and 8 years old. Right now she is snuggling in bed with my husband. 🐈💞

This big guy looks just like my fest friend kitty who died last April at 11 years old. I raised him from a bottle fed kitten. I miss him every single day. His name was Mr. Bumble. He was always by my side. Especially when I was going through surgery, chemo, radiation. Always within arm's reach. He was a big boy, 22 pounds, and loved to cuddle. Be sure to give him lots of love.
It's been seven months since I lost my Missy. It will tear you apart for awhile, that's for sure. Just goes to show you how much cats can mean to the people who love them. My cat was also a bottle fed baby at first.
Our animals truly are our family, and they're never with us long enough. They weave themselves into your heart, then before you know it they've grown old with you. And when they pass away and leave us they take a piece of our heart with them and leave a hole that can never quite be filled again. They are pure, innocent, and full of unconditional love. I miss all of my babies who are gone... Everyday.
Hope you don't have to go through that treatment again. It's can be really tough.

Why would you get a cat but abandon it when you move homes? Cats aren't just pets, they're a part of your family. I got my rescued cat a month after my father died. She's helped me through a lot. I cant imagine my life without her. Although she's got a nasty temper, i still love her unconditionally ❤❤
Had a neighbor that did this at the start of the pandemic. The apartments we were staying in were sold to a new company. So at the end of everyone's lease they were raising rent by almost 200 bucks.
I'm assuming that between everything being shut down and the rent hike she had to move and had 2 kids and a cat. There were no other apartments that were priced as well as these had been in our area. All the others were not pet friendly or had massive deposits and monthly increase in price just for having a cat besides just being more expensive per month.
It doesn't excuse the abandonment but I guess I understand how it happens.
We did find the kitty a home afterwards so at least there's that. ^_^

I believe that 'no pets' leasing is a huge contributer to cat abandonment.
floopyboo , even if they take pets, there is a deposit, and a fee, as well as a monthly rent on top of the regular rent. I think that is sad, more people would rescue if it didn’t cost so much where they live.
that is why I am very happy for what the apartments where I live have done, you can not adopt pets if you live here because its a no pet apartments, but they made exceptions if you already had the pet before you moved in. because they dont wanna be the reason pets get abended , I dont get why they dont remove the no pets all together though.
also my first cat was a abanded, when the owners moved, she kept been with staris to the apartment for two weeks, at last, my mom took her in, she wasn't even a year old and a really sweet cat.
you can get around that by having it declared a service animal. Done, they can't do shit about it then.

@@josefineandersen2165 the reason most landlords have no pets or expensive pet fees is cause they don't want to deal with the cost of property damages a pet "could" cause. So that is their solution. Unfortunately the people who abandon their pets I feel just didn't care about them enough cause even if you can't take them, you can at least, AT LEAST find them a new loving home or find a no kill shelter to take them.

Omg! When they showed a pic of that cat hugging the little girl in the wheelchair I lost it! I mean ugly, snott faced, crying!😭😭😭😭😅 As a disabled woman as well (though not in a wheelchair) I know the power of love these tiny fur babies can bring you! I mean, we only have 5 after all!😒😏😁 Every single one of them just showed up at our house too...God must've knew we needed them!

@Snow Just because she’s physically disabled doesn’t automatically make anyone an object of pity; that’s incredibly condescending of you. I don’t see a “poor unfortunate soul”; I see a happy young woman who is compassionate towards animals and picked a rescue cat instead of a fancy purebred.
It may come as a shock to you, but most people with disabilities aren’t depressed, sick, socially awkward, lonely, bored, or in need of joy. We are too busy living our lives and changing the world to worry about accepting crumbs of pity from people who dismiss our worth and see us as lesser humans without any purpose.
@@pinkmonkeybird2644 That's because of disability insurance, really. When everybody had to pull their weight, it would have been a lot more unfortunate. Now, it's OK as long as there is no pain or depression.
