Hi Everyone! James I just moved from Tacoma, WA to Corpus Christi, TX this past November, so I'm very familiar with Olympia, WA lol. I'm super excited about my IT journey! I will be starting my network engineer program with NexGenT on April 24th. One of my cohorts actually shared the free course with me. I love the training so far! Nice to meet you all!

Hey, LeVar - I've worked with Strayer before in a couple of small ways back in the day. ITF+ - especially this latest version - is a great way to make sure that you don't overlook any foundational knowledge areas.

I have found myself in an intriguing situation. I have been involved in warehousing/material handling/shipping-receiving/manufacturing for 39 years. This year I have learned, through multiple doctor appointments and mri's, that there are multiple bulging discs. Some are compressing the spinal cord, some are compressing the nerves, and some nerves are being squeezed like you would a ball bat. There are multiple levels of degenerational and arthritis issues. This also affects my hips and legs down to my knees. I have to go in a different direction for income to hopefully avoid a very extensive surgery. So my question is, having worked with numerous operating systems and liking the idea of being in IT, do you have any suggestions on moving into and forward with this transition? Oh, and the sooner the better! Thank you

Idris is right, Timothy. Another benefit is that this course helps folks identify all of the options available to folks in IT. It also gives folks new to IT get a good idea of the specific areas of IT. By "areas," I mean things such as how operating systems work, hardware, networking essentials, what databases are, what "the cloud" is. Stuff like that. To me, ITF+ helps learners see what's out on the horizon. Plus, it's something that was created not just by a few people at CompTIA, but by hundreds - even thousands - of IT professionals who want folks to get into IT.

Sometimes it's tough finding a particular gig in a particular geographical area. Also, I've found that it's often useful to work with a mentor who's already working in the IT space. One way to get a mentor is to use LinkedIn or some sort of other service and connect with someone who can give you tips for skill sets that are relevant to your particular area, or even recommendations for folks who are hiring.
