    I am self-taught A+ and Network fundamentals only to supplement the inability to afford technical services when I had computer technical issues. Before COVid-19 I launched my Computer build and repair business thinking since I could not get hired in IT without certification, profits from providing technical services in my community could help me pay for certifications. Well now I am parked without a way to earn money. I refuse to give up. I will refresh my skills with this IT training. I humbly accept any guidance from all of you.

    I would like to see more in these live discussions about career transitioning into IT. The knowledge of the certs is super helpful with landing an IT job but more zeroing in on certain job fields and what the employers would want to know that you're confident with and after A+, what branches to take with certs. I saw a graphing of it on LinkedIn but I think a lot of people have not seen it and would make for good discussion. I missed this live by a few minutes but I'll be sure to join on time next Wednesday!

    I'm working through the ITF+ promo . It is definitely appreciated. I find that it is a confidence booster to know that I do have more IT knowledge than I initially thought. Any chance that you will be lowering the testing fee for those that finish the promo? I am considering going for A+ right after.

      Confidence is so important to move forward, isn't it? I sure wish I had ITF+ when I was making the career transition.

    I am working as a Service Desk Agent in IT enviroment, so I am learning and I would like to become a Sysadmin , servers engineer.

      It's tons of fun creating business solutions with servers, etc., Bryayan. Two considerations to make are:
      1. Learn the cloud. You'll be administering a lot of the servers people need from the Cloud, including Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, and Alibaba, among many others.
      2. Learn Windows and Linux - they're the "dynamic duo" of the server world. And, consider the CompTIA career path, among others: www.comptia.org/content/it-careers-path-roadmap

    Hi Kelsey
    I'm tuning in from South Africa.
    I'm planning on making a career change to the cyber security industry.
    I'm planning to study for my CompTIA certifications. I'm just uncertain whether I should start with the ITF+ or A+ certificate.

    Just started my journey in the CopmTIA field. I have been serving as a US Merchant Marine Officer/Pilot on ships upon the Great Lakes. I have served in this career for 24 years and I am brand new to this field of IT. My first goal is to find my niche in this field. I am one that doesn't like to sit idle behind a desk all day. I like diversity and a setting that allows me the flexibility to move around with variety on a daily basis. Maybe someone can help with guidance within my new career path after I complete my certification exams.

    I am from New York, used to be a photo retoucher for 15 years till they outsourced everything to India. That is not much left in this country for graphic Art . I planned to attend a course for Lan Wan administrator in an institute to change my carrier. I realized that a lot of things are going to cloud, will it affects the chance for landing a job ?

    • @pugetdiver1
      @pugetdiver1 4 года назад +1

      We're living very much in a "hybrid cloud" world, Daniel. Great question. I would argue that not everything is moving to the cloud. But a lot of things are. Therefore, it's important to understand both "installed / enterprise" IT (traditional data center approach), as well as cloud.

    I'm confused. I finished my ITF+ certificate. But I am thinking about Sever+ just am not sure if it's possible to do this before A+ simply because the A+ expires. So where to start I mean not mainly specifically speaking of CompTIA. Please Advise

    We were already defrauded by large state university w/ regard to our son's getting a job w/ a bachelor's degree in Computer Science ( and yes, the grade point was over 3.0 )
    - - after 3 years of looking for a job how much does CompTIA cost?

    Joe from IL here! I work in a grocery store as a cashier and had thoughts and considerations of going into IT. I’m finishing up my Associates degree of Arts this year at Harper College. I’ve been going crazy trying to decide if I should pursue a 4 year degree or not. I know that many schools can’t keep up to date with their education system and that concerns me along with the possibility of getting into debt. I’ve read on the CompTIA website that you don’t need a degree to get into IT. I don’t know what I want to do in IT yet if it is indeed the right path for me. Would you recommend I just chase after certifications after I finish my A.A. Degree? Or should I pursue a B.S. in IT/IS? I was told by a few people that it depends on what you want to do and many companies look for people who can get the job done. I enjoy helping people with tech questions that they’re confused about and I even do it at work when customers don’t know how to clip digital coupons to their account on the store website. Would companies hire someone with degrees plus certs & experience over someone who only has certs and little to no experience? I’d like to start my career as early as possible after I finish my degree, but I don’t know when God’s timing in that will be. The only experience I have is meeting customer needs (customer service) at work. The other non work related experience I have is helping other people whenever I’m around them no matter if it’s family or a friend. I’m just taking it one day at a time and have researched many times if you need a degree or not or if having a degree would help your chances on getting into the field. I never really liked school, but would only do it if it was completely necessary. Thank you for reading this, and I wish everyone a very blessed Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

    Please, will only CompTIA+ Certificate be enough for me to get a job without a degree certificate?

    • @pugetdiver1
      @pugetdiver1 4 года назад

      Akin, it's always best to have many "proof points" when it comes to getting a job, Akin. I've seen people get a good IT career going with just certifications, or with certifications and a degree, or even just experience. A combination is often helpful, I've found.
      But, I will say this: You don't need a traditional 4-year degree to get started; you can get started with good experience and certifications.
