Mine is in the oven now but I altered the recepy: I seasoned my chicken with garlic and salt, did a base of potatoes, then layer of sliced of white fresh cheese the chicken, then potato layer then slices of cheese. I added the whole milk, and egg I had sepate in another bowl to cover the "pie" .... this recepy is similar to a Peruvian dish "pastel de papa" ... so I altered to what I know and ingridients I had :) xoxo

All of a sudden I don't feel so singularly juvenile in throwing that line out so much. Even my eight year-old son has started to say it...and it's always in context.
    Making this, though.

incase anyone needs it heres a written recipe :)) (i took out the bacon but u can just add that if u want)
    chicken potato bake
    2 chicken breasts
    5 potatoes
    1 onion
    cream
    butter
    2 eggs
    some milk
    cheese
    1. cut the potatoes into circles and onions too
    2. cut the chicken breast into cubes or anything that can spread out easily
    3. sauté chicken and onions a little bit(optional)
    4. microwave a thick slice of butter about half an inch and add 2 tbsps of milk, 2 eggs and black pepper
    5. start layering your chicken bake in this order:
    potatoes
    chicken
    egg mix
    onion
    cream (just a drizzle)
    cheese
    6. repeat the process until you use up everything and top it all of with cheese
    7. cover with aluminum foil to avoid burning of cheese
    8. cook for about an hour at 180°C/350°F

I made it tonight and it's one of the best things I've cooked in a long time all 3 of us totally agreed on. It took an hour and a half to cook. The last 1/2 hour I covered it, the cheese was just right browned. The foil also helped steam the potatoes because they were only about 1/2 cooked at the first hour mark. I see a lot of questions about what Cream? I used Half and Half, just Drizzled it on like Greg said, about halfway up the baking dish is what I ended up with, and not runny or dry when done, just right.
    Thank's for Sharing Greg!!
    I'll Share it too!!

Greg, you just saved the evening supper choice. I am in Metairie, La. just getting electricity back still having to boil water for washing dishes etc. large tree limbs and mountains of leaves mounded up in front my residence alongside my neighbors. I had one nice sized boneless breast left from yesterday’s lunch and with no restaurants open and extremely long lines for the grocery which can’t stay open like usual. This dish of chicken, potato slices and cheese and egg cream and milk and I used a can of cream of chicken I shredded the cooked chicken breast slapped it all in a Pyrex dish and into the oven as I’m writing to you. Did I mention Hurricane Ida did a number us in Louisiana. Yes we are not afraid of hurricanes but the aftermath is such a torture for all ages here. The main deal is to survive and with the least contaminated situations. This dish will always remind me of your program. After dinner I will let you know how the dish faired out. I’m sure it will be good.

Hi Greg, I can’t wait to try that! Thank you for the recipe. Just one thing, you said you keep potatoes in the fridge, I used to as well, and I noticed a difference in my potatoes, but it wasn’t till it was pointed out that you shouldn’t keep potatoes in the fridge because they start to taste sweet...and that’s what I could taste. These days I never keep potatoes in the fridge, I only buy as much as I need. I shall be buying some soon 😁

I love how you added the raw chicken with all the ingredients the chicken was so tender 😋it was quick and easy to make it drives me nuts when some RUclipsr’s cook the meat than add to a slow cooker and let it cook 4 to 6 hours that just drys it out . I look forward to more of your recipes.😊!

Hi Greg, watched you making this n tried it yesterday..it came out out superb n my children enjoyed it ofcourse I made a few variations like sauted the chicken in the bacon fat first. Since I had not seen the ingredients I did so on memory..my only problem was the potato should hv bn more cooked n here n there, the milk, cream n butter cud have been adjusted but I'm sure next time I'll get it just right. Thank you, I always hv to try making chicken in various ways n this random watching helped me.

I have the exact same casserole dish. Was my Mother's. It's the best Corning Ware, before they sold the company to Chinnnnna. And I've got a similar casserole ready to go into the oven tonight in it waiting to bake. Used ground beef on top of the potato and onion. Lots of cheese.... cheeeeeeese. yum. I'm going to keep this chicken bake idea in my back pocket though and pull that out next time. Cheers!
