The story of Stoke is the same as every place like it in England. And the places surrfering the most under the increasing weight of immigration whilst already struggling with unemployment and all the socioeconomic issues that come with it. Its truly a disgrace.
We need to take this country back for real. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

I moved away from Stoke just over a year ago after living there all my life. It broke my heart to see the deterioration over time. It began when all the industries shut down- the pottery factories, the mines and the steelworks. No one had any money to spend.
The death knell came when there was an influx of immigration. Low property prices attracted slum landlords to house the new arrivals. Plus social housing for the homeless druggies all meant a huge change in the demographics. The population are all low income and don't spend money around the town so shops and pubs close down. So sad but for a city centre it is desolate and disgraceful.

**Stoke-on-Trent decline is NOT because of migrants.**
The loss of traditional industries like pottery, coal and Shelton Bar steelworks, led to widespread unemployment and reduced incomes. The impact of 40 thousand job losses
had a ripple effect, reducing spending and weakening the local economy.
High levels of unemployment and hardship have contributed to social challenges which includes *OUTMIGRATION* of younger, skilled workers and the aging population.
Online shopping and out of town retail centres massively reduced the traditional shopping in Hanley and MANY other towns in the UK. Many shops closed due to the decline in shoppers which has led to vacant shops and less appealing town centres.
Stoke-on-Trent has struggled to to attract new investment to replace lost industries which means less jobs and a lack of modernisation, contributing towards the perception of "Stoke Died Suddenly".
We are all accountable for the downturn in high street businesses.

Having lived in Stoke for the past 12 years, I am so looking forward to moving away in the next few months. As you rightly pointed out Hanley is an absolute shock, open drug taking wherever you look, decay and hardship are everywhere. I didn't like the place when I came here, my wife is a Stokey and she is also ashamed of the place. Many people here are very warm hearted and helpful but the town centres have been left to rack and ruin. Unfortunately, this is one of many towns across the UK which have been forgotten.

A place where business were thriving and all sorts of cutting-edge cultural acts happened all the time. Going to live there, for at least some months, was almost a mandatory experience for any young person
I don't know if the situation now is so dire as videos like this shows but undoubtedly nowadays among the spanish young people the UK has lost a lot of appeal to live in, even London. I hope the UK will be back on tracks soon

What you're doing for your country, going around filming and documenting is pretty remarkable as Britain (and other countries) needs to be cherished and respected.
There are sadly a lot of places in Britain which don't really feel or look British (or even European/Western) so much so people don't feel safe in said areas.
Furthermore, whether the British like Farage or not, he's their best chance at salvaging Britain because Labor/Tory are practically the same thing (one worse than the other).

They also want to leave the UN convention of Human Rights. Fair enough, if you do not give a shit about 10's of millions of people around the world. I can't argue about that but employment rights are linked to human rights and as much as Reform say they are for the 'working person' I don't trust them considering they're funded by Richard Tice who has serious links to offshore tax havens.

Towns and cities grew with industrialisation. Cottage industries were wiped out by factories. Farms needed less manual labourers thanks to machinery. People moved out of smaller towns, villages and hamlets and in to industrial areas, often creating slums, to live by the new work. But deindustrialisation happened and all these towns with a population density originally attracted by work suddenly have no jobs. So what do we do next as a country? Employment opportunities in more modern times became massively too focused on London, creating the dreaded ‘commute to work’ as we can’t all live near our employer, with much of the country left behind. People ether need to move to wherever (???) the new centres of employment are and let these towns die, or somehow establish new jobs (easier said than done) in these post industrial towns. I presume that’s what government empty waffle about ‘levelling up’ means

The so called City centre is awful, but there are nicer parts of Stoke on Trent. Trentham Gardens pulls in people from all over the Country. The City centre has been affected by out of town shopping centres. Just like most other cities in this Country. Some of the areas in and around Stoke are really nice. The area of Trentham and the Westlands are as nice, if not nicer than most other parts of the Country. Stoke on Trent is more than a City centre.

@@GoingGlobull the British have had a problem with immigrants from the day I was born, why is there never a problem with immigrants who play in the premier League? Immigrants and immigration has never been the problem, just another con like Brexit was a con. No investment in every sector of British society is the problem. 50 per cent of the UK land is owned by the King and the descendants of the Norman invasion. It's always been immigrants, then it was the EU now it's immigrants again, but it's never the British government is it?

    • @ChipsAndGravyPlz

@GoingGlobull nobody has voted against immigration. The Tories have repeatedly broken all immigration records. Anyone voting Tory in the past 2 elections has endorsed this. Facts matter

    • @GoingGlobull

What the politicians promise ie what people vote for and what is delivered are not the same. People voted for and persistently poll for wanting less immigration. Multiculturalism in this country has been anti-democratic and imposed on the native people.
As for British people being against immigration, this is not a uniquely British perspective. Can you give one example where a mass movement of peoples into a natives people land has been welcomed with open arms, wished for or happened without resistance?
People who try to suggest the British (mostly the English) are uniquely xenophobic or racist clearly have no understanding of the world. In group preference is repeated across the planet for almost all of recorded history. In the coming years as immigration patterns change you’ll see exactly the same conversations the ‘racist’ English have being had by Africans, Caribbeans, Asians and in the Middle East. In fact those conversations are already happening.
People want to maintain their own culture and way of life. Why should the English or the British be any different?
