La Société des Amis du musée Guimet (SAMG), fondée en 1923, célèbre ses 100 ans.

The Friends of the Guimet Museum, founded in 1923, are celebrating their Centenary.
Fondé en 1889 par l’industriel et collectionneur Émile Guimet (1836-1918), le musée
Guimet était à l’origine pensé pour être un musée de l’histoire des religions. En 1923, sous l’impulsion de son nouveau conservateur Joseph Hackin (1886-1941), l’institution
entamait une ère nouvelle en se tournant désormais vers l’étude et la connaissance des
arts et civilisations de l’Asie.
La Société des Amis du musée Guimet (SAMG) était créée
la même année, dans le but de regrouper autour de l’institution donateurs,
collectionneurs privés, collaborateurs, scientifiques et mécènes désireux de participer activement à l’enrichissement des collections, grâce au financement d’acquisitions ou de
restaurations d’oeuvres.
Founded in 1889 by the industrialist and collector Émile Guimet (1836-1918), the Guimet Museum was originally thought to be a museum of the history of religions. In 1923, under the impetus of its new curator Joseph Hackin (1886-1941), the institution began a new era by now turning to the study and knowledge of arts and civilizations of Asia.
The Friends of the Guimet Museum (SAMG) was created the same year, with the aim of bringing donors together around the institution, private collectors, collaborators, scientists and patrons wishing to participate actively in the enrichment of the collections, thanks to the financing of acquisitions or restorations of works.
