I've never seen this show, but the intelligence of this man and his explanation of how and why they did the final episode as they did, makes me want to watch the show now.
Phil Rosenthal is a brilliant, creative genius. Before these youtube videos, I had never heard of Phil Rosenthal. I knew Ray Romano from the Dr.Katz show, and I liked Ray, but the funniest character on Dr.Katz was Dom Irrera. With Everbody Loves Raymond, I soon came to appreciate the genius of Ray Romano, and I believe it is the only sitcom where the characters truly rivaled Seinfeld. The only two television shows that can be watched over and over for pure enjoyment.
Think he's brilliant? I like his show, but I don't like him. Him and Ray practically made a career on the show's DVD commentaries, and if you listen to them, you'll see what I mean. As a person, he doesn't come off as the most humorous, enjoyable person. Watch his documentary movie, Exporting Raymond, along the commentary on that, and you'll see he's just being arrogant and judgmental on everything around him. Believe me, this show is as far as he's going with his career. I mean, what big thing has he been busy with since the 9 years the show has ended?
I think they could have gone one more season and had Amy get pregnant. That would be hilarious but I do know Peter was getting sick and all that and they could not have done it without him.
Great explanation, but I still think the better episode to end the series would've been "The Home/Not so Fast" episodes where Frank and Marie move away, only to return.
i understand now why they end it that way... i mean look what happened to "the Office" it became Lame and finnaly it was over not being funny anymore,,, everybody loves raymong ended great
