Hey Viking King, big fan here. Pls don't get confused as this model has a very specific target market in Asia were Japanese reign supreme for decades. It's becoming a phenomenon as it just started to kill Japanese car sales slowly. It's a disruptor as PHEV has never been this affordable and accessible to us. It's the perfect way to kick off electrification as we don't have accessible charging stations yet, not that many as in.
BYD "obsolete" technology is still miles more advanced than Toyota, Honda, Mazda. Sealion is much more efficient n better in more metrics than Rav4 the segment leader
I live in the Philippines, charging infrastructure here is literally near zero. I can charge at my home and some hotels.... so a hybrid PHEV like BYD's which can deliver 500+ km in range is the best option for me. I can't go all out on electric yet.
He should of made it clear that the new engine and platform running DMI-5 with 1500km range is already on sale in China. Thus making this model obsolete.
Filipino here, Metro Manila commuter. For someone who lives in Metro Manila I think EVs are better. I got the Atto instead of the Sea Lion. Lack of infrastructure isn't actually a problem if you consider that EVs are charged at home. With Metro Manila driving in mind. The frequency of charging an EV is roughly the same as the frequency of putting gas in my Diesel Car. The Atto 3 has 90% of the city range of my 2.8L Fortuner (80L x 6.7km/liter). The difference is Meralco rate are less than a Quarter of the rate of Diesel and Gas in the Philippines. I think the EV is better because I get 1.5-2 weeks of use before I need to charge, but with the Sea Lion I need to Charge every 3 days. Having a gas engine of the Sea Lion is highly reassuring. But as one starts to enjoy the fun of using 100% electric one realizes that SL has a small battery that one needs to plug in more often. So instead of charging an Atto overnight for 1-2 week use, one have to charge the SL 2-3 times a week for 3 hours each or don't plug it in and lose the advantage of a PHEV over a HEV.
@@davec110 DM-i 4.0 technology will not be obsolete for at least five years. DM-i 4.0 and DM-i 5.0 are sold in China at the same time, and this will not change for at least the next five years. For each new model, BYD will carefully promote them to overseas markets after 1 to 2 years of domestic sales.
So we just tested this car along with other members of the philippine automotive media. The challenge was to drive to 1000km without refueling. We're only halfway done with our trip and I dunno about the issue with the suspension or the traffic sign recognition. It didn't happen on our test. We, of course, haven't uploaded our full review, but so far, we're very impressed. I get that the next gen will be even better than this, but for the PH market and what's available now and in relation to our country's EV infrastructure. Its a no-brainer. Great car for the price. It is possibly one of the best value cars out there for the PH market. A lot of folks dont want to wait.
Bought SL6 dynamic and drive EV kms 95% of the time and in two months of owning it have only filled tank once. That’s like 6 tanks a year. Previously I was pumping Mazda 3 once a week or 52x a year. Perfect toe-in-the-water approach towards electrification. Bought on novated lease and will replace in 5 years so it was a good transitional vehicle for me considering I have no range anxiety whatsoever. Next car will be full EV now that I have learnt a lot more about charging and have much more confidence re: EV ownership. Will get Xpeng X9 to replace Kia Carnival diesel.
There is a whole wide world out there that doesn't have amazing charging infrastructure, think about them buddy. We watch you as well.Places in Middleeast like Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and most places In Asia like Pakistan, India or Nepal. For these market its a bargain to get sealion 6 rather than a Toyota Rav4 or Corolla cross hybrid. Waiting for the new version of thier hybrid system. It's amazing to see 1.5l/100km
In Europe, the charging infrastructure is not as well-developed as in China. Many chargers do not work as expected, forcing users to search for alternatives. Additionally, using chargers often requires installing multiple payment apps, which can be inconvenient
Obsolete and Poorly packaged my ass. One other article says this - 99 others says it's a damn good car. You went and bought 2 EVs. In my book, that makes your mindset and viewpoint is a biased one. Everything you buy today will be obsolete some time in the near future. It's just a dumb fact. Have you seen the size of the boot in the seal? Fact is everyone has different needs. For many, a Sealion6 is perfect for theirs and they should definitely buy it. Obviously not for you from this one sided waste of time. My advice - stick to evs buddy
not obsolete here in Australia, with long distances and very poor charging infrastructure in large areas. I can drive Sydney to Brisbane in my SL6 Dynamic without spending hours planning my EV needs. I'll get an EV (maybe the SL7) in a couple of years but meanwhile I think the SL6 seems sensible for this country (and its selling well so I'm not alone). As for boot space, yes its not good, but rear legroom is huge so for me thats all useable space as I rarely carry four adults around with big luggage.,
Syd-Bris is easy. You could almost do it on an electric bicycle. There are chargers just about everywhere including just about every small town. It isn't a problem these days...
I have recently thaken delivery of my Sealion 6 and so far I couldn't be happier with it. BTW it absolutely smokes every other PHEV available in Australia on every metric.
I disagree, for developing countries, where the public charging infrastructure is still lacking. Going PHEV way is a good way to charge at home, go to work and come back using pure EV mode, Then when require to go longer distant may just fill up without worries on charging infrastructure. This BYD Sealion 06 DM-i is till better than any RAV4 HEV which is cheaper and more accessible.
I went to BYD Auckland last weekend, I test drove all models apart from the dolphin. My verdict: Atto3 are too funky for my taste. Seal has the best driving experience. Sealion was the overall winner for me. It is a lot more practical to own a SUV vehicle in NZ (kids, dogs, sport gear). It is a bit on the soft side, but hey, you're only paying sub 60K NZD for a brand new SUV. On the liter/km side, I am not too worry, as 99% of the my daily will be under 90km which can be covered by its blade battery alone. The extra cost on 95 octane fuel and 4.4l/km for long trip is like once in a blue moon thing, I can accept it. Being a PHEV is kind of like a piece of mind when you wonder into the unknow, you know you can always made it back home, It also amazed me that, the ICE engine does not transfer power to the wheels via a transmission gear, instead it send power to the electric motor. One less thing to go wrong.
I think he falls into an elitist mindset every now and then and forgets other situations. Like when he talked about solar, those things require big upfront investments so even if they would easily pay off if you can't afford it you can't.
Mate surprisingly this is the first negative review of this car that I have come across. The "carsguide" snippets which you have in your video, also has given a very positive review of BYD Sea Lion 6 (Seal DM-i). Other reviewer from Philippines has mentioned that this car has EURO NCAP 5 and ANCAP 5. People who test drove it in Italy Europe have also given a positive review (This is a UK based auto journalist who went to Italy). I haven't purchased it yet but honestly was a bit surprised to see a negative review.
When I hear someone say the boot is small I am positive about this because that obviously means more legroom for passengers in the backseat. What is wrong putting shopping bags on unused car seats if they all can't fit in the boot?
Im interested in buying the Sealion 6, because from all the cars available today, it's still an attractive package. Most reviews regarding the Sealion 6 are positive. Cars Guide, EV Quest, Jerry Pan, Car Expert, The Right Car. The common theme most journalists picked up is the soft ride. Could Sam be benefiting promoting the Xpeng G6?
You have to look at the market. for example most infrastructure in Asia is not ready for EV, with scarce charging infrastructure here and there. This car is great for that middle ground between EV and gas. Gas station is practically everywhere. so no range anxiety whatsoever. its a great car for those who want to get their feet wet in EV, but still have doubt to fully plunge in EV world.

Interesting assessment, but I believe this video could benefit from more thorough research. I’ve watched nearly every review on this car, test-driven it twice, and extensively studied the new DMi v5 system recently launched in China. Based on my experience, I can’t entirely agree with your conclusions. Firstly, the new DMi v5 system on the Sealion 6 in China doesn’t achieve a 2,000 km range due to the car’s weight. Real-world results suggest only about a 15% improvement, with a more realistic maximum range closer to 1,400 km under typical driving conditions. Secondly, if you’re considering this car on a novated lease, keep in mind that the cut-off for PHEVs is early 2025. By that time, the newer model likely won’t be available, which is a crucial factor for many potential buyers. Thirdly, Australia’s charging infrastructure is still lacking, particularly for long road trips. Even if charging takes just 10 minutes, you’ll often find yourself competing with hundreds of Tesla owners at rural charging stations on a weekend-especially in towns around Victoria. It’s not as straightforward as it seems. Have you driven the car? Most reviews I’ve seen are positive to very positive, with the lowest rating being around 7.3 out of 10. Some reviewers have even called it the best SUV they’ve ever tested. It seems like you may have cherry-picked certain negative aspects to support a specific narrative. Regarding the suspension, the so-called ‘softness’ is something Australian reviewers often criticize. However, after driving the car myself, I found it extremely comfortable-especially for city driving, which makes up 80% of my usage. In this context, it’s more of an advantage than a disadvantage. Finally, user reviews and feedback from online communities have been overwhelmingly positive. So while I respect your opinion, I have to disagree with several of your points.
I live in Thailand. Some Thais, well quite a large number, fell victims to fake news about EVs, propagated by Japanese legacy autos. The Sealion 6 comes as a bridge for people wanting smooth transition from ICEs like the Honda H-RV and Toyota Corolla Cross to BEVs. My friends still have range anxiety. He's considering the Camry 2025. I said I would spend the same amount on the Model Y. I personally have gone fully electric and will never come back to ICE.
Had a test drive on this beauty in Melbourne 2 days ago, better drive than a Merc EQE somehow! Merc only had the luxe interior, drive felt like a Prius.
We test drove the Sealion 6 on the release date and the take-home was that the handling was spongy and so did not suit the style of family vehicle we were looking for. Today we are test driving an X pung G6 in Sydney and we plan to leave a deposit provided it drives the way we are thinking it will. We already own an Atto 3 and a seal performance and the G6 will be replacing a 2021 Audi SQ5 turbo diesel. Making us an all EV family.
The only thing I have against PHEVs currently is the inability to DC fast charge many of them. If you can fast charge a 20kWh battery at 150kW, which then gives you 100km EV range, then you're looking at a 5 minute topup of the battery and significant fuel savings. That means during a road trip there is a purpose in lugging around a battery as well as the ICE that gives you extended range.
Has anyone seen this "Blade 2" battery you speak of? Can I buy it? If you do any country driving in an EV, how far do you need to divert to find charging infrastructure? Does it even exist? With the SL6, I'm 100% electric in the city, when I'm in the country I'm not suffering range anxiety or pissing around with broken, slow or non existent charging infrastructure. Of course better models will always be on the horizon but bang for buck right now, the SL6 is a hands down winner.
I just did get a new Byd seal U for 35000 euro. Full electric. The comfort version. The other model is more expensive. In Belgium 🇧🇪 the price is 39.950 and 5000 you get from the government.
Big fan of this channel but I completely disagree about the Sea Lion 6. It has one really good benefit over most EV's and that's its long range which makes it worth considering when buying.
I own an Atto 3, and i'm waiting for the Sealion 7 BEV. The boot of the 6 has no depth as if the fuel tank is taking up half the expected space. Thanks for the video, as i'll check on the technology in the 7.
I'm watching until lots of these Chinese cars stay on the road in 10 years, before I get my own. I drive two Japanese cars: 17 and 24 years old and still great, with others like them still common on our roads.
This person seems to have limited knowledge about PHEVs and DM-i technology. He is suggesting that someone considering a PHEV should instead buy an electric car. He's recommending against buying a current BYD PHEV because he thinks BYD new PHEV going to release in next year that can travel 2,000 kilometers. That's a ridiculous claim. It's like saying you shouldn't buy a 2025 model car because a 2026 model is coming soon
If you think Sam is so wrong, go buy one, that’s your choice… We all know there is newer and better around the corner… You have to have a perspective as to what else you can buy with similar money. This is about eduction and giving us all pause for thought. After thinking it through, go buy one if it what serves you best… This is only advice…
I already purchased and don't need to wait for a newer model. My car can travel more than 1,100 kilometers so I'm happy with it , I am living in Europe so i don't have good charging infrastructure in Italy, I decided to go with phev , this is the best in the current phev suv market
The information I can give to you guys is that the newest model of BYD Sealion 6 2025 will come to Australia in 2 to 3 years, not next year. Waiting for the newest model is impossible unless you switch to an EV car. The fourth generation of DMI technology is the most mature product of BYD. And the joint cooperation between BYD and Toyota on Hybrid plug in is about this fourth generation DMI technology, not the newest fifth generation DMI technology. BYD won't transfer their new DMI technology to Toyota.
Did not care for the Attorney 3, but the new 2025 looks to big a big improvement… Moot point for me however, I don’t know when the US will ever see a BYD car
I will listen and make my mind myself from now on no blind following. 😊 This video show number of flaws which shows you have excellent skills to follow and keep us update on new technologies in EVs, but you need to improve the business and marketing side of skills a lot and yes a lot. Busy, but let me give you a few points to think and understand. 1. Only 2 PHEV in the market right now Mistibushi and MG both are either expensive for what they provide and smaller in size (MG). Plus expansive services. Remember, Toyota does not have any PHEV in the market. 2. Yes BYD PHEV have older technology and is not using new and if taking Australia example new Technology might be available in 1 to 2 years in the market so should BYD leave vaccum in market to others to capture ? In todays market no one should leave the vaccum. In Australia, Honda, Mazada, and Toyota created a vaccum but made delivery late, so what happened? Haval & Tesla took over the gap. Now BYD is intelligent they know a lot of people still have range anxiety, and they prefer PHEV than full EVs. This BYD sea lion 6 will fill the gap, and people in 2 years' time will be chnaging there minds and then they will trust BYD anyway more. Right now, selling PHEV to cover the market gap as Mistibushi nearly taking a year to be delivered will benefit BYD snd already as per last visit tonToyota and BYD showrooms the difference was nearly 1 to 10 ratio. Where Toyota has 2 customers in the showroom while BYD has nearly 19 customers, and i have to drink coffee while waiting for 20 minutes. Yes I might wait for new tech as i can but lot of people will jump and this gap will not be there for long as right now all big companies like Toyota or European like Mercedes and BMW are changing massive way to cover this gap and next 2 years we will see biggest chnages in them otherwise people will forget NOKIA as Toyota will be next NOKIA. Toyota is already trying not to be NOKIA, but like Samsung is signing tonuse BYD tech for meanwhile. The best PHEV right now in the market is the only one that is BYD sea Lion 6. I understand that as a tech guy, you made this video but did not keep in view marketing, financial, vaccum/gap, and timing in view. I did a test drive and found the Premium one with excellent features like sun roof, interior, and drivability excellent it feel just like an expensive SUV +100k driving feeeling, not something 50k around. Anyway, I can work with you on each point of urs, but it's best not to leave the gap for 1.5 years when you have a tech bit old anyway but better than others in the market.
There are many BYD cars being taken back by dealerships and distributors in Europe this is a fact. Do your research on that. They are giving a lot of trouble by all accounts. Plus it's worth mentioning I am a fan of the channel.
I disagree that SL6 is not worth it. It may be obsolete because BYD has released the new PHEV version in China that has much better efficiency than this one but it is still the best PHEV for its price in the market right now. The SL6 is still much better than the more expensive Outlander PHEV and RAV4 HEV. So for people who do not want to have BEV yet, this is a perfect vehicle for them especially if they can plug it in at home.
Hi, another Viking here :-) (Norwegian) I have been in the process here in Thailand to purchase this car, but found that it is obsolete hence as you said there is a new generation 5 hybrid system on the market i China. Yea, 2000 Km vs 1000 Km range total. I view there will be a lot of early buyers here in Thailand who will get very disappointed with the purchase once the 2025 version hits the Thai soil. Furthermore the handling is not optimal and there is also a mention of an issue with the engine as well for the current model. Navigate wisely and stay prepared to purchase gen. 5. See you have plenty of opposition from the commentary univers here I assume mostly from individuals already in a owner position. .....
The BYD isn't alone in mistaking off ramp speed signs - my Tesla Model Y does it too. Not ALL the time, but enough to make it annoying. There are also the possibility of fires starting near the hybrid ICE as well - search YT for them...
its either you go full ICE, full Electric, or have both. No in between. But in countries that still have a poor Infrastructure on charging stations, the SL6 PHEV is the best choice for those who dont want to go full EV yet.
Even with the 2025 model coming , 1000 kms per tank is still friggin good. Until Australia’s ev infrastructure improves by 100%, I’ll by a hybrid any day of the week as I know I won’t get stuck . Sealion 6 is a great car , suspension is fine and my speed reading has been great . Try and Fri e o e before you comment .
A drive from Melbourne to Lightning ridge 1200 KM IN the BYD 1 stop The Tesla or any EV 3 to $ if not overnight and no Savings That problem was fixed with over air Update Same as teslas Phantom Braking
I regularly go for roundtrip surfs that make Ev only cars useless. In Tasmania there's next to no changing infrastructure, plenty of petrol pumps, weekdays 90km will do me fine. Brilliant compromise
in my opinion you have completely misunderstood the analysis of this car... the car was created for people who do not want to switch to pure ev yet and who do not want to have "recharging anxiety". If we talk about obsolete cars... well, pure electric cars in general are the first, the models change so quickly that a battery today is already old... and then will electric be the future? if you read around no one is sure.
@@fatdoi003 the new 250Kw charging speed of the EVO platform is due to the addition of the SiC inverter, not because of the architecture. do you own proper research. i own a Seal. You have no idea what you talking about.
Re Bootspace... the smaller Atto 3 has ~430L ... another reviewer has said the SL6 is 530L, but most other reviewers (including this one?) just parrot what's in the brochure, 425L, without actually looking into where/how the measurement is made... is it just up to the window line or with a back seat reclined a notch? Re Range... most reviewers are getting ~1100km total. Brochure just over 1200km.
Opinions and ar$wholes Sam everyone has one and some stink. Not up to your usual standard mate. Im happy to "export my excess PV" into hybrid instead of the grid. Nothing everyone live in town or urban settings so this is has a place.
You can’t have something else if it not produced in RHD until perhaps the next generation. 1000km is better than 650-700km. The Current Qin hybrid with 2000km range won’t come, because production plateform wasn’t geared for RHD, if someone wants to buy a car now, it’s their business. I like the car because l don’t have to plug it in, and if l don’t stick my boot in the accelerator it only charges the battery and drives in EV even at highway speeds.
Honestly, I don’t think Toyota will be adopting the DM5 system for their vehicles. The current rumors suggest that Toyota might use BYD’s system but with their own internal combustion engine (ICE) as the range extender. This seems more like a variant of the DMi system rather than a full adoption of DM5. Considering the pace at which EVDirect introduces new BYD models to Australia, I doubt the Sealion 6 DM5 will be available here within the next two years. However, it’s still possible that other cars equipped with DM5 could arrive in Australia during that time. That said, I do agree that the Sealion 6 DM5 version is a significant improvement over what’s currently available. It features a brand new chassis and is built on a PHEV-only P5 platform, which is a major upgrade from the existing models.
The only BYD I will consider will be the one with blade battery v.2 and I don't think any of their models started using that battery and I don't know why BYD are not using their latest blade battery v.2 on all of their models.
Not sure you have done your research!! 1. There is an electric ute in Australia LDV electric ute. 2 Yes SL6 is 425L boot measured to bottom window Tesla 846L is measured to the roof
I hope that the Sealion 7 BEV that comes to Australia "soon" has all the Chinese features and the latest tech. Otherwise, I will buy Xpeng G6. It looks like the SL6 has a petrol tank under the boot, making it tiny.
Sealion 6 owner in the Philippines. In 3 months of use I've never used a drop of gasoline. Four malls here have free charging, even if I have a charger at home. And if I go to the province there are no charging stations so the hybrid system will come in handy. As for the Sealion 7 being better, then I should wait for the 8 because that will be better, so on and so forth. Sorry but I disagree with your review.
strange 1 video he talks that he is the 1 in the family providing for all and askes for 2 dollars sub and then the next video he tels us bought a 20k solar system and 120k us for 2 cars.....?? like wat??..
The early adopters have already jumped onto EV bandwagon. The PHEV is a "halfway house" for those who would not dare to go for a BEV due to range anxiety and the lack of public charging facilities. Most buyers of PHEVs will hardly ever use the petrol powered generator as they will discover that the battery itself and overnight charging in their home, will have enough range for their daily commute. The incentive is of course the much lower cost of electricity versus petrol.
Yes you're right but people are still gonna buy because the competition is far behind but BYD should lower it's price. It;s selling for very high in our country almost same as Toyota Fortuner
For one reviews haven’t been that positive? What!!?? I’ve watched heaps because I’m considering one and you are the first negative review literally the first so not sure what youve been smoking. Also most of your comments disagree with you too that should tell you something
Mr evans. You said the current se@lions obsolete about 7 or 8 times 😅, we get it .😂 Ps over in uk better to buy a new plug in HS mg , up to 70ish mile range and it wont belong before they begin discounting the first batch of showroom test drive ones.
That’s so wrong on so many levels. This one system you talked about did 1500km and that’s with refueling in emergency situation. This car is killing in in Asia.
What did I just watch? All I can hear him saying is that it is obsolete. He is just hating on BYD. He didn't even drive this thing. This "obsolete" car, is cheaper and more advanced than the twice as much more expensive japanese hybrid cars in the market. Also BYD just launched the 5th gen DM, it will take some time before it will be available in global markets.
Just that it is a hybrid does say it all. It's a Dinosaur which is crossed with a horse. I can't see any sense anymore in any hybrid nowadays, especially since battery has going up significantly and charging time just declines also with every new generation of batteries. There is simply no need for an ICE engine anymore unless you want to increase your maintenance costs. Also you won't get a real efficient car because you need to move both systems even if you just use one of them. The only hybrid I can accept is a serial hybrid, with a small engine which is just for drive a generator to produce electricity to power the electric motors and load the batteries. But such cars are just useful at places on earth where is no charging infrastructure. Maybe interesting for someone who lives in the center of the Australian continent. Because Australia has no larger towns except at the coast line around the continent.
my friend bought the seal to bring his 5 dogs to park everyday and it broke down within 2months..guess what..there is no spare parts and have to wait 5 months. never ever buy any of their cheap crappy piece of junks
It is unfortunately true for all advance technology consumables. When does it end? The longest range EV car, the highest resolution TVs, the fastest CPUs etc etc.
Hi all, I’m thinking of getting this car via smart lease! As I’m working for nonprofit organisations! Please advise me if anyone have experience with smart lease
Bias anti petrol much... The alternative cars you recommend can't run once the battery runs out... This is the whole point of this car...... Not perfect but still does what it was designed to do in my opinion

Exactly. Only people with sufficient charging infrastructure can say this is obsolete but for other parts of the world, this is God sent
Same in Australia and a lot are really slow
@@davec110 This is my point. The 2025 have DM-i 5.0
Filipino here, Metro Manila commuter.
For each new model, BYD will carefully promote them to overseas markets after 1 to 2 years of domestic sales.
you are the only reviewer to give it negative and without driving it
exactly haha
I love how he claimed everyone else gave it negative reviews. Haven’t seen one. Couple of little things noted but not overall negative
@@testdriveph Just hamg on to your ice car.
Yes you are right its great car in Philippines

This video is one of the worst Sam has made for some time. I thought he had lifted his game recently.
@@vasil7410 yes, 💯
Being a PHEV is kind of like a piece of mind when you wonder into the unknow, you know you can always made it back home,
It also amazed me that, the ICE engine does not transfer power to the wheels via a transmission gear, instead it send power to the electric motor. One less thing to go wrong.
Sealion 6 is so much better than rav4 which is one of the best selling cars in Australia. You gotta do more research man
No its not.
The boot is surprisingly small though.😅 Might be a deal breaker for large family with toddlers.
When you go shopping just leave the little devils at home.
I have watched every review of the Sealion 6, as picking mine up tomorrow, and I didn't hear any of these negative reviews that he has referenced.
Well is a chance to get money to advertise the product, and if they dont mention it,it doesn't mean it doesnt exit@scottmarshall129
I think it's just his usual pro pure EV anti PHEV stance
You have to look at the market. for example most infrastructure in Asia is not ready for EV, with scarce charging infrastructure here and there. This car is great for that middle ground between EV and gas. Gas station is practically everywhere. so no range anxiety whatsoever. its a great car for those who want to get their feet wet in EV, but still have doubt to fully plunge in EV world.
I agree with you, @CIim326. I'm from the Philippines, and I bought 2 BYD Sealions -6 Dmi and am happy with them! I also have a Toyota Landcruiser 300, a Mazda CX-60 , a Nissan kicks, etc. ... but the Sealion 6 is fun to have. This electric viking guy is WRONG ... maybe a biased tesla guy ... ha ha ha
Great points 👏
I live in Thailand. Some Thais, well quite a large number, fell victims to fake news about EVs, propagated by Japanese legacy autos.
The Sealion 6 comes as a bridge for people wanting smooth transition from ICEs like the Honda H-RV and Toyota Corolla Cross to BEVs.
My friends still have range anxiety. He's considering the Camry 2025. I said I would spend the same amount on the Model Y.
I personally have gone fully electric and will never come back to ICE.
This is not an obsolete tech. The same tech is being used in the new BYD Shark Ute.
This video show number of flaws which shows you have excellent skills to follow and keep us update on new technologies in EVs, but you need to improve the business and marketing side of skills a lot and yes a lot.
5. See you have plenty of opposition from the commentary univers here I assume mostly from individuals already in a owner position. .....
problem with the engine? Man are you delulu?
The BYD isn't alone in mistaking off ramp speed signs - my Tesla Model Y does it too. Not ALL the time, but enough to make it annoying. There are also the possibility of fires starting near the hybrid ICE as well - search YT for them...
its either you go full ICE, full Electric, or have both. No in between. But in countries that still have a poor Infrastructure on charging stations, the SL6 PHEV is the best choice for those who dont want to go full EV yet.
Well, its shows to the value of the car. Good buy for its price. You cant expect for more at that price range tbh.
Try and Fri e o e before you comment .

in my opinion you have completely misunderstood the analysis of this car... the car was created for people who do not want to switch to pure ev yet and who do not want to have "recharging anxiety".
Yes they say soft drive But Nice for Long trips soaks up the Bumps Not a Race Car
2 late dude l have one already and super happy with , even better than my previous bmw je je je je je
The only BYD I will consider will be the one with blade battery v.2 and I don't think any of their models started using that battery and I don't know why BYD are not using their latest blade battery v.2 on all of their models.

Actually Sam I saw a great wall pickup trick here in Australia the other day.
Yes you're right but people are still gonna buy because the competition is far behind but BYD should lower it's price. It;s selling for very high in our country almost same as Toyota Fortuner

I’m surprised you judged a car by other test drive reviews. I would rather see you driving that a SEALION 6 and comment it. Be fair please.
100% incorrect . The SL6's sister model is the BYD Song Plus, which is one of BYD's most popular models in China.
so is current Tesla Y is obsolete everyone waiting for next model
I agree BYD should sell DMI 5th Generations in Australia
The good thing about the Sealion 6 is that it’s proven technology.
my friend bought the seal to bring his 5 dogs to park everyday

It is unfortunately true for all advance technology consumables. When does it end? The longest range EV car, the highest resolution TVs, the fastest CPUs etc etc.
The reviewers on Tesla say its Harsh ride and only gets 450 KM So Outdated and a don`t buy
Is it obsolete or matured?
By what I am hearing it will be worth waiting for the Xpeng G6.
Don't BYD not galvanise the steel, impregnate it with zinc? Rust risk. Haven't heard if it's been addressed, but tough in Aus conditions
My favourite BYD is the Seal Excellence AWD.
The BYD Shark in NOT a plug-in hybrid: it's a pure BEV with a small battery and an onboard generator, isn't it?
You should drive a sealion 6 and make up your own opinion. Can't just give your opinion based on other people's reviews.

The new 2025 civic hybrid is a much better choice and reliable with parts availability
That the next one goes Further same with Any Car
I think many Thai car reviewers/youtubers don't recommend this car too.
You think?
Been interested in buying this model for last few weeks watched about 20 reviews of people actually driving one etc , this is first one I’ve seen of a reviewersitting on his fat ass reviewing a car 😂😂
This is a review that should not have happened as you have not Driven it and to go by another reviewer who could have been paid to say anything
