    *Corrections/Mistakes*
    - I was very incorrect on total RAV sales. In 2020 the Toyota RAV4 reached it's 10 million unit milestone and they have sold millions more since then. I mistakenly misread a chart and read the US sales from 1 year and misinterpreted that as total global sales since inception. This misreading led to the next mistake.
    - BYD Song Plus in 2022 exceeded US Total Rav4 sales in 2022, not totally culminative sales.
    - I was incorrect in saying the RAV4 does not use electric motor and engine at the same time. It actually does at some faster highway speeds.
    - Toyota RAV4s battery is 1.8kWh, not 18.1kWh as stated. It is 244v x 7Ahr = approx. 1.8kWh

    A great video David. I think there is an important missed criteria in the comparison, and that is the passenger accommodation. The bigger dimensions of the Sealion 6 allows for a much more spacious cabin. Even though the RAV4 has more cargo space, the more spacious cabin is much more important on a day to day basis.

    Why didn't you mention, BYD is PHEV. You can use it as ev for every day in day out from cheaper fuel (electric) cost. Free if you got solar. The Biggest Winning advantage is it can be novated leased with 100% Pre tax payment and GST free (Car cost and running cost). Also longevity, there is No transmission in it (you mentioned it). Engine is minimal used for most drivers, roughly 90% of daily trips are by electric. Engine will still be like new after 10 years.

    We are watching a slow death of Japanese and German car makers. They offer everything to customers in small incremental terms and make it feel like they are offering a lot for additional money. For eg. A infotainment screen size costs maybe a few dollars more and customers like it and the Chinese understood that but the Japanese still treat it as a very precious give away and will suffer for it .

    By the time you need MAJOR parts replacements (5 or more years), Chinese parts will be flooding the world by then. Cargo space is big on RAV4 coz the Sealion prioritizes the cabin/people seating spaces. 1 major category which is hard if you dont have both to test drive is the "driving experience" Great comparison BTW. I purchased a 2021 RAV4 Hybrid Cruiser. I love it and at the time of buying it, I thought it was an absolute stand out. Service cost is only $250/yr from Toyota as well. This thing has an unbelievable combination of value performance, features and fuel economy. After nearly 50,000km’s my car is averaging 5.8l/100km. So my car is due for renewal in 2025, so will I get another one. As much as I love it, there are now better options. The BYD is in my opinion overall a much better option if you have a family or need/prefer an SUV. Sorry Toyota!! In my case I’m not going to get the BYD PHEV either. I will keep the RAV4 but will go full EV next.

    There is no way the Sealion achieves 1.anything litres per 100km except if its battery is used till it gets to 25% so is driven as an EV for first ~75km. This is not repeatable unless the car can be recharged every 100km.

    Battery protection from underbody impact is important in Australia. I don't recall Battery replacement cost being mentioned.

    • @BeYonD-EV
      @BeYonD-EV  17 дней назад

      I agree and I would say that Sealions battery pack offers more underbody protection than the RAV's open undercarrage. The Blade Battery is not just sitting there exposed, it is very very well protected and forms an integral part of the entire cars structure. Its called 'Cell to Body', where they integrate the battery pack into the body of the vehicle.
      I didn't mention the replacement cost either because battery replacement cost would be very reasonable when compared to the $10,000 cost to replace the Rav4s 1.8Kwh NiMH battery. The Sealions battery is 10x the capacity and uses more modern chemistry, using Toyotas pricing per kWh structure for their 1.8kWh NiMH battery that would mean the Sealions 18.1kWh battery would be $100,000 to replace.

    Isn't the BYD Sealion 6 a PHEV?

    So... Small size is winner???

    • @BeYonD-EV
      @BeYonD-EV  Месяц назад

      Yes in context, smaller car means its easier to park, easier to maneuver while offering more boot space. To me that makes it win on size.

    • @Daniel-wn1nz
      @Daniel-wn1nz Месяц назад +1

      @@BeYonD-EV Ok, but in the Chinese context, the winner is a bigger one under the same group of vehicles such as Rav4, Sealion 6, Cx5, CRV, H6, and X-TRAIL, so that is why these SUVs are in the compact size SUV group in China while these are in the medium size group in Australia. Chinese prefer to compare with wheelbase in different vehicles, so you will find that all Chinese SUVs (Same group level) are bigger or longer than Rav4 in size and wheelbase.

      @BeYonD-EV  Месяц назад

      @@Daniel-wn1nz for me the smaller footprint wins because it has bigger boot space. In Australia that's important buying criteria. The Sealion offers much more rear passenger room, but smaller boot space. Like I said in the video, everyone has different wants and tastes, buy based on what is important to you!

      @@BeYonD-EV, small car wins over larger car in your definition, easier to park and drive, does not make any sense.
      By your logic, Corolla Cross(smaller and cheaper) is better than RAV4, then.
      Oh, bycicles are better than cars, cause they don't need place to park. Lol.

    I know why Toyota's jealous;
    EV company can make better hybrids
    Renowned Car Co cant make proper EVs
    EV company's hybrids, are better as a result, due to their knowledge in battery in EV production
    Those genius US and german investors, Warren Buffet and Munger..

    At point one i stopped listening. The BYD far FAR outstrips the Toyota in trim. The Toyota is old and basic. The BYD is modern and futuristic. The BYD seats are far more comfortable and spacious. This is Toyota propaganda. Don’t listen. Channel useless.
