    I live in the Caribbean where it's reeeaally hot most days, recently I tried making a semi hard sugar wax which I though would work after doing the cold plate test (it deceived me lol). The room temp wax worked well enough for the first two pulls, but by the third it turned into a sticky mess. I tweaked the jar of sugar wax I had left a little bit (cooking it for several minutes more) until it was really hard, like I nearly broke a finger trying to dig some out lol, and to my delight it's now perfect (for me). Since I used Jamaican brown sugar my final wax is really dark, but it definitely does the job. I'm really happy I found your channel because you explain all the little details so well, I feel like I can pull off this waxing thing at home. 😁

    I think my sugar waxer isn’t using proper technique. I started sugaring after I saw your video on waxing facial hair. You were able to get those small, coarse hairs. My waxer chooses to use tweezers for those hairs & I’m starting to notice more ingrowns. Not only am I seeing more ingrowns, but the hair grows back much quicker.
    I didn’t have this issue with bead/hard wax. I don’t want to give up on sugaring, but it’s a frustrating journey. This video came on time, I’ve been thinking that I wanna try to practice at home until I get it right and get the results I want or go back to bead/hard wax. Until I can do laser hair removal. 😩
    Pray for me y’all. Unwanted facial hair is something I wish for no one.

    I just made strip sugar based on this video. I’ve never waxed or sugared my legs at home before. Recently tried an epilator for the first time, but much of my leg hair was to fine for it. The strip sugar worked so well! It got just about everything. If get better at it I think I could be just about where I was when I shaved.

    Okay this is what I have learnt is that if you are a beginner I will say use strip sugar , it's easy to handle and make and there is no error of it being to firm , it's simple and there is no learning curve on how to handle it with your hands. Bets option in my opinion

    I strictly wax… but haven’t waxed my leg hairs in like a year. This is motivating me to make my own sugar wax because I’m tired of paying to get it done, and I also seriously hate that the hairs feel like spiders crawling on my legs just when I walk… that’s how long they are. 😂

    I just attempted to do this two days ago and it took me so long to get the right consistency 😭 I used one of your old videos as a guide and kept doing the testing and waiting and taking the mixture off the stove method, afterwards which I got a firm wax. It’s currently winter going into spring where I am and I have really coarse hair which I guess would make that consistency ideal? I have been going to professionals to sugar my underarms for awhile now but I’m a bit low on money so I thought I’d try it at home and your videos have motivated me to do so so thank you! I will try it out with the firm wax I made two days ago today and see how it goes! 🤞🏽

    If it's not too much trouble, can you make a video showing the different consistencies of soft/firm/hard wax and what each one looks like when used on the body? I know you kind of touched on it in this video but I would love an in-depth visual comparison as a beginner to sugar waxing. It's hard for me to gauge which wax I've made and what kind of viscosity I should expect 🥲

      the issue is the texture doesnt necessarily translate on camera, because if a person is using the appropriate type for their climate, each type will “look” very similar because they’ll effectively work. I do however have comparisons of texture straight from the jar here ruclips.net/video/8qCVYtQ_orE/видео.html

    I started sugaring after watching your videos and it's a lifechanger. I used a phillips machine to "strip hairs" (I called it "Epilady"). Tough I can´t always get the consistency I want (sometimes it´s too hard and sometimes I have to use cotton strips), it helped with my ingrowns! Here in Argentina is very popular the "Brazilian" and removing hair in those areas without ingrowns is a miracle.
    Lots of love and keep making this videos, you are so real and honest I admire you!

    Living in AZ I almost exclusively make hard sugar; I think I get more done with less. Once it reaches triple digits here, I just put the jar in the warmest room of the house to soften through the day. During the "cooler" months my rice cooker doubles as a sugar jar warmer.

Overall even though I failed in certain areas I have to agree this is the most effective method (relatively less painful to regular waxing too) and it makes your skin feel good too. I think the only difficulty is when it comes to waxing regions you can't see - like your back. I've been using different videos of yours as a guide and I know I'm gonna get better at this if I follow through ☆

      used sugar can not be stored for later.
      a portion can be used on several body parts in a single session, but not re-used after that. After youre done waxing one or more areas, the sugar must be trashed as its now full of hair, dead skin, sweat, and bacteria.

    Im so confused 🤦‍♀️i got my sugar to the PERFECT consistency. Tested it before transferring it to my container and everything… let it harden over night, used it today, and i was able to get 1 full flick off my legs before it turned sticky and goopy. Ended up having to put the wax on and use strips to get it to work. WHY?!
    Ive been making wax for about 2 months now, some batches are to soft some are to hard and that all comes along with learning how to make the perfect wax for yourself; i get it. But this time I literally had the perfect consistency before storing it, i did the: take it off the heat, sit on the counter n harden, AND the ice water methods, why after letting it cool and harden i go to use it in a larger quantity it turns to goop after just one flick/ strip?

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  2 года назад +1

      your sugar is too soft which means you need something firmer, therefore even though u succeeded it making it its technically undercooked. this is a very easy fix however, because all u need to do is cook it a bit more to make it harder.

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  2 года назад +1

      also you mentioned that you made it in a larger quantity so whatever you did the first time wont be exactly identical. based on the increase in volume it takes longer to cook when you have more bulk.

    • @abetweene

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  2 года назад +2

      ok. i’d recommend using an AHA or BHA for exfoliation. its possible that physical exfoliation can be irritating your skin. since microfiber is plastic, possibly even just a different material could be less irritating if you prefer physical vs chemical.
      also if youve been shaving, and are kinda new to waxing it’s not uncommon to get ingrowns initially because you’re removing the entire hair for the first time versus just cutting it off at the surface, so especially if your hair is coarse or curly it can easily get trapped during regrowth.

    • @abetweene

      I use one scoop (including on multiple areas) until the sugar stops working basically. at some point it either becomes too soft, too full of hair, or both to continue. then you can grab a new piece.
