Lady let me tell you now, you saved my life... I've watched your sugar wax series and from that alone yesterday I made my first batch of soft sugar wax..... I'm brown skin and come from a very hairy family so hair grows everywhere on my body.. I usually tweeze which takes me 4 days to get each individual hair off my upper lip and sideburns... yesterday I cleared my whole upper lip and the side of my face...it was messy and my Ma was hella mad but once she saw how clear my face was she was super proud and happy for me. Thank youuuu so so so much!!!!! 😩❤️
I've watched all your sugar videos and after my successful failure (made strip sugar but had awful technique), I'm still hella scared 😅😂 Maybe you can do a video on technique to help the technique challenged people like me 🙃😂 So glad you are uploading more frequently again
Looking at the hair on my legs and simultaneously buying the ingredients for these recipes - thank Y O U for always coming through when I need it most.
Thank you sooo much abetweene ❤ for sharing your knowledge on sugaring🍯. I literally watched every single video on your sugaring playlist and now I sugar my whole body. ✨🍯 The color is not really important. Coz the first time i tried it at my moms place (higher altitude, temp is really cold) the firm ball of sugar was really light in color. Whereas, when i tried it the day before (lower altitude, the day was lil warmer) the firm ball of sugar was golden ! The climatic condition does affect the firmness of the sugar paste. I always try the cold water test to check the consistency. This is my third time sugaring, and i think this time it was less messier than the previous times. I was able to handle the sugar ball properly. I just cant thank her enough, coz i hated shaving and using creams that have chemicals. I now sugar my legs, arms, armpits and give myself a brazillian😻. My skin is soooooo smoothhh ✨🍯🎉 Im Never going back to razors 🪒 👎
I've often made "Sugar Wax Strips" but after storing it, it hardens. How to keep it stable? so for the next use, i don't need to heat it up again. Please answer this question, Thank You 🤍
it hardens when its overcooked. theres several stages of cooking sugar that produce different results for different recipes. the type we’re aiming for is thread stage, soft stage, firm, or hard…. but whne u cook beyond that u reach soft crack and hard crack stage which is how u make lollipops. So follow the steps in this vid to make the right type ruclips.net/user/shortsFMo-BE2hiGo?si=9xjbjxegmbExThk3
I would love to see you use regular white sugar and take it to the different stages! Also, do you usually make different types at the same time to use in different ways/for different places?
I sugar wax my whole life using the against hair growth method and it's actually works and the hair grow back slow and thin , however I i tried your method and honestly didn't like it as much coz it caused that ingrown hair and bumps so I'd like to share my experience and yeah wax your hair against the hair growth ❤
Can you use the bottle lemon juice from the grocery store, or should we squeeze lemons the day of? I’m not sure there would be a difference but just curious :)
@@abetweeneI just made 2 batches last night with bottled lemon and now noticed it had oil in it :/. One batch is a strip consistency but when put the muslin strip on it is absorbing it a bit. Still gets the hair out though when I pull it. Does the oil affect the consistency or temparature?
the oil can effect the stickiness/grip if theres too much. if its seeping through the strip that means theres still a good amount of water in the mixture. If it still works thats great, u can continue, or if youd prefer it not happen its an easy fix. cooking it a bit longer will evaporate some of the excess liquid.
Hey - I've tried a few times now and keep running into the same problem - whenever I make the wax successfully and use it straight away, about halfway through use, the sugar will crystalise. It turns white, hard, lumpy and goes back to being granulated. Obviously, I can't use it anymore. I have toggled with the recipe a bit and it keeps happening so I have no idea what's going on and I can't find anyone on the internet talking about this. I wondered if you had any suggestions? I love your content on sugar waxing, thanks so much for the help :)
Hi, I know the technic is to apply on the opposite direction of hair growth and and pull in the direction of the hair growth. But I've using it like hot wax. Is there going to be any problem?
there isnt a specific time. i recommend testing as u cook to see when the consistency is how u want it. heres a demo ruclips.net/user/shortsFMo-BE2hiGo?si=d0w6MzvQGoZFCV31
there isnt a specific amount of time. ots best to test the consistency as you cook. you can measure the temperature as you go & when u get the results u want use that # for future batches.
Is it normal for the wax to harden like caramel when it cools down? Mine always does and idk how im supposed to use it bc if it doesnt cool down ill end up burning myself
@@abetweene How do i make it not turn into a hard caramel? I followed the instructions on a tutorial and it still ended up hard. idk what im doing wrong
like this ruclips.net/user/shortsFMo-BE2hiGo?feature=share taking small samples while cooking to check the consistency is the easiest way. if u want u can measure and document the temperature also to use for future reference.
Hello! I finally decided to make a sugar wax, but after I used it, I got a lot of red bumps on my arms. The same thing happened when I went to get wax strip hair removal on my arms and even when I shave. My skin is very very sensitive, but I don't know how to prevent or treat them. Any tips? ❤️
the red bumps are just inflammation. its our body’s normal response to the trauma of waxing, so theres not much we can do to prevent it. What i do is just focus on aftercare by using soothing products, like aloe and witch hazel, to help it calm the skin’s histamine reaction & subside quicker.
that means its overcooked so u can try keeping your heat lower and testing more frequently while cooking so u catch it at the right time. I have a video on how to save hard sugar, as long as it isnt burnt. sometimes its easier to start over, whichever u prefer
I tried sugaring my mustache but I only got like half of the hairs. I got a store bought soft sugar (it’s medium on the website but based on your descriptions, I think it’s soft) I had a hard time applying correctly. I think it’s a good start, and I can improve my technique. But I’m wondering if I’m using the right type of wax. I’m in Florida, so high humidity, but I live in a temperature controlled apartment. Any advice?
soft is great for the face unless the hair is more coarse (in which case firm may be needed) Id recommend using the soft sugar with strips; that tends to grab more hair consistently- just make sure your application is spread as thin as possible.
Hi @abetweene why is it that now it changed that i have to sugar every once in a Week ? two years ago it was all 5 months 😭 they come back after a week and i hate it !
Made very hard sugar, decided to reheat in the microwave with 2 tablespoons of water. Worked well for my arms but not for my Brazilian attempt haha. Put the wax on, pulled strips but not all hair was coming out (the thicker ones on the lips. When the wax is cooled I tried putting in a ball but was a bit too stick and not holding shape so gave up on that. From your videos I think I need the hard wax for my think hairs but can I cook the batch again for another 30sec to 1 min in microwave? Also, have you tried flicking method for brazilian? I wonder how hard it is :/
yes, reheating will boil off some of the water you added back in & make it thicker. just a heads up, it could take more time depending on how thin it is now & how thick u want it. i have used the flicking method but only on the bikini line & pubic bone cause its easy with the direction of hair growth in those areas. since the hair grows opposite on the labia, i always have to use strips. getting the right angles and limited wrist mobility makes it difficult otherwise.
@@abetweene Thank you so much for the tips. I had a go yesterday with flicking on my labia and near bum crack and was very tiring! The wax was very firm this time and after some kneading it softened a bit to mould and got some hairs out but not all. My body is usually really warm in certain areas and it melted the firm wax quickly to keep going with that method (despite being in UK and is near 0 degree celsius at the moment). I will use strips from now on to do full Brazilian once I get the consistency right for firm or hard wax then warm up a bit to use with strips. Just need to keep practicing 😀

u can try a numbing cream or spray 30 mins to an hour before waxing and if the hair is longer than 1/2” id recommend trimming it shorter to around 3/8”
Hi Ariane, I've been subbed to you for many years and recently have started sugaring my legs consistently. But every time I do it, I get these horrible, itchy ingrowns. They're in the direction of regular growth, but almost every single hair gets stuck under what I suspect may be dry skin. Have you ever seen this and do you have any tips?🩷
Other info: I'm currently using sugar from a premade jar, but it's a very similar consistency to the sugar I've made with your videos. I've also been using a Salux cloth to exfoliate regularly, but the ingrowns are still happening :(
yes, this is the bane of my existence because my kp makes me have excess skin build up so the hair cant penetrate through the skin easily. To help i use a chemical exfoliator at least 2x a week and physically exfoliate at least once (for me this has to be kinda gentle so a textured cloth or a scrub if its not too abrasive) AND i have to moisturize throughly. i show a lil more detail here & here ruclips.net/user/shortsu0wj9hcEXYo?si=iEl2vRr5JucBDn5v ruclips.net/user/shortsBNr7M9H8N2g?si=KxRx7b3pE-Qshkn0
yes, u can continue cooking the liquidy one. remember to take little samples as youre cooking and let them cool on the spoon to see when the consistency is how u want it. thatll tell u when its ready.

strip can be made with any kind. its just cooked the least, meaning it has more water left in final result making it more runny and less concentrated.

of course 🩷

it can depend. is your hair coarse or curly? do you exfoliate regularly?
What I really need to figure out is how to turn it from a strip wax into a harder wax so I can just use it with my hands 😩
cook it longer. the more liquid evaporates from the mixture, the more concentrated and thicker it becomes.
