I just picked them up today. I have the Nimbus 25 which have been the best and keeping the pain at bay. I hoping these Kayano 30s will help mitigate my pain the same or better. Thinking it may because of the support over neutral Nimbus.
how is it so far ? i’m at the same situation of getting my inly running shoe. The local shop here suggested me to go with kayano 30 as i’m pronating a little on my right foot.
On a side note, took your advice and tried on the GT2000v12 at work the other day, I normally don't mess with stability shoes outside of maybe the Tempus, but I love the GT and I think it's going to be my easy run shoe. Great recommendation
Comparing the ASICS Gel-Kayano 30 (I have about 150 miles on them)and the Saucony Tempus (I have 450 miles on them), both are excellent mid-level stability with great cushioning for long runs. I did find the Tempus a bit lighter and more sporty feel underneath, whereas the Kayano was a bit more stable (due to the width) and a bit heavier. But both are a little more stable than the ASICS GT-2000 12 or the Saucony Guide 16. I use the GT-2000 and Guide 16 when on a "normal day run," then switch over the the Kayano/Tempus for gentle and/or long runs........
Great input and perspective - thank you for the review, as a size 6 women's the surface area feels smaller and stiffer and I noticed that the heel was a bit clunky as well.
I’ve been buying approximately 5 pairs of Kayanos a year for the last 15 years or so, because it was the perfect running shoe for me. In September 2023 I bought the Kayano 30 and to me it has nothing to do with its predecessors, for worse. Too soft and unstable, after 200 km they caused me blisters (which I never ever had before) and even sesamoiditis a week before the Valencia marathon, which I decided to run with a pair of old Kayanos 29. In 2024 I’ve bought 2 pairs of Kayanos 29 in the internet and I’ll get a third pair for Berlin, but the stock won’t last forever. I wonder why they had to change anything in such a consolidated model with so loyal customers.
interesting buying tactic i thought of too. unfortunately when i realize a shoe is pretty good, lots of stocks run out. i know what you mean from v29 to v30. my Nimbus 20 are still in that old gel-shoes style, but now its the maxfoam trend. i got the K30 anyway, still testing it. dont really like the "rocker" :|
First run in my K30, very firm ride and poor grip. Grip ok if you run in flat areas but I’m in rolling terrain and downs when it’s slick can slide a fraction. Feet ankles not happy so far. Blast+ or Blast+eco ride firm as I’m loving the DNA loftv3 softer and poppy
Ive thus far put 25 miles on my pair. It is a great shoe, lots of support and stability. But definitely not for tempo or quicker runs. It struggles quite a bit when you try to pick up the pace.
@@NikhilonYT I ended up running the marathon in the Superblast. Was a great decision! I swing the Gel 30 on daily/easy runs and the superblast on tempo days
@@Seanonyoutube well, I always wanted to try a stability shoe, but the piece of hard plastic on either medial side held me back. The 30th edition is the first design using a softer material that encouraged me try a pair. So far so good. 😆
@@wonkydonkey7899 but whyyy?? If you’re neutral why would you want stability I don’t get it…do you lose stability on the later part of your long runs? @@Seanonyoutubestability shoes arent just for pronators! I have an unstable ankle and just brought the Kayanos. They have massively helped reduce my Achilles pain. I am not a pronator.
Nice shoes, it is perfect for walking .For running , I find it soft, soft landing but no bounce back , I think the out sole not being one piece, make the midsole spread when landing.
How does this shoe integrate into the Asics lineup? Asics Gel-Kayano 30 and the Asics Novablast v3 and Asics Gel Nimbus 25? They all seem to be every day trainer for easy day recovery runs, thoughts? Thanks in advance
This model is their premium stability shoe while the other two are neutral trainers with different foams that feel a bit different from one another. They fill some similar training needs, but the Kayano is specifically for runners who want stability.
I bought an all black Gel Kayano 30 last month. Its stability feature is perfect but it slips very easily on wet surfaces. Is this the case only for black Asics? Has anyone had the same problem?
@@bahadirakin810 Hi, For better traction, KAYANO 31 includes ASICS grip outsole for excellent traction and durability rubber soles. I bought a pair of Nimbus 26 last month. Excellent traction with ASICS grip outsoles.
I've run about the same mileage in it: also finding the centred stability the real standout. The foot refuses to roll from side to side at all! It's also very comfortable (although I preferred the cushion level of the 29: this is firmer). Definitely for slow easy runs but I pair it with the Magic Speed 3 for the faster stuff so that works just fine for me.
Hey Matt, what are your recommendations for a stability shoe that has enough soft cushion to carry you through a marathon? Looking for alternatives to my Guide 16s which start to feel uncomfortable and "hard" over 10 miles.
Tempus is a good option with the super foam. Asics GT 2000 12 is my go to easy and long run shoe right now. Saucony Tempus is more centered whereas the GT 2000 has more medial support. Both great options! -Matt
What is your recommendation for someone who has the Hoka Arahi 6 for easy runs and daily miles, Hoka Carbon x3 for intervals and race day, and missing a more uptempo daily miles trainer that you can pick up the pace in? I need some stability for over pronation but am willing to give some more stable neutral options a go! What about the Asics Superblast or Saucony Tempus?
Hoka Gaviota 5 was even more stability vs. K30 when I tried them on BUT they're so massive they looked (and sorta felt) like clown shoes. If you don't care about that (or price) Hoka could be the fit.
DISAPPOINTED with the Asics Gel Kayano 30 I think Doctors of Running channel has a conflict of interest with this brand... I've been a loyal user of Asics Gel Kayano series for years, but my recent experience with the Gel Kayano 30 left me utterly disappointed. On the day I received the product, I embarked on a 10km run and noticed severe blistering on the tips of my middle toes and the inner side of my heel. I decided to give it another shot after a 5-day break once my feet healed, but unfortunately, the same issue persisted during another 10km run. It's quite a letdown especially considering the hefty price tag of 5499 TL attached to this pair, which is supposed to represent its high standards. I genuinely hope Asics takes a hard look at customer feedback and prioritizes satisfaction to match the high financial expectation set by their pricing. The comfort and stability that were the hallmark of the previous models seem to be lacking in this latest iteration.
weird, i had blisters in the past with other shoes(typical 60-70 euros shoes) and with the kayano 30 , ive never had anything , i am very happy with them
My plantar is really tight lately, and I bought the kayano 30 for my long run right away. Did my 20k today and no pain.
