Great video! I think it's definitely important for parents and kids to have open communication about what pets can fit into their lifestyle. I'm an adult and before I get any pet I give myself 3 months to get as much information I can on that pet. I will also find out what the needs of the pet are. I've been doing this since I was a teenager. Doing research and doing a lot of reading or even visiting with my vet has prepared me to get the pets I've wanted. I think it's a great idea for children to volunteer with animals. Here, where I live in Canada, adults can foster pets until a home is found for them. This is a good way for the parent(s) to see how their children interact with the pet they want and see how responsible they are. My cat is my therapy cat and she's absolutely the best thing in my life. :) I really love your show!

Ok. So when I was born, my parents and I lived in a real small apartment in a city. I had always wanted a cat, but you couldn’t have pets in the building. Boom, no cat. 10 years later, we move out into the country with a house and yard. So I again asked for a little cat to give me happiness. My parents said no. So then I said, “well what about a dog?” My dad and I looked online and found a big dog for really cheap that we loved. We’ve had her for 2 years now. But.....my love for cats says strong. I then again asked for a cat, I would do everything for it, pay for it, clean up after it, buy its supplies.....but now my dad says no because of my age, when I go off to university in a few years, where’s the cat gonna go? Idk, I love my dog so much and I’m happy with her, but I think she would also love a little furry friend❤️
My mom said I can't get a pet because they die and everyone gets sad, I have a family dog that's being neglected and just being fed. I've offered paying for her and everything. They keep telling me it's not my dog, but she is! I take care if her all the time, I'm the only person she trusts. They left my dog OUTSIDE during a storm!! Maybe tell your parents that you can keep the dog in your bedroom or in a spare room in your house. Or if that doesn't work maybe discreetly spend more time with your dog and play with it. Even offer to walk the dog 🐶 xx
laura dude if they tell you no just ignore them because they are saying that your not allowed pets but you clearly have a dog so say that you insist because it's not fair on the animals if they are being treated horribly

It needs a lot more care than you think. You need to clean it's tank, feed it, ( it can't feed itself ) make sure the water temperature is good, making sure there is enough room, not too much food, not to little water... it's a lot of care, probably more than a bird
Lily Kapustin nooo way. Have you even had a fish or bird? Fishes can be hard but that’s not a lot compared to a bird. Like cleaning a tank, getting the right water and amount of food. If that is hard work then you are just lazy.
You can get an axolotl, they don't need a lot of care, you can buy the eggs for a good price, they're cute, and they live for 10-20 years. The only problem is that they need a 10 gallon tank, almost extinct, and illegal in some states including California

I bought my hedgehog with money I got for Christmas without my parents even knowing 😭 I planned it perfectly so the courier would bring it to my house with all its supplies while my parents weren't home so then they couldn't send the person away. If your parents are strict tho I don't recommend doing that at all cause my dad went MENTALLL over it!! This is what I've done so far: - I made 2 PowerPoints about cat care, I even calculated the cost of vet and salon visits and what vet we should go to and at what age we have to give the cat vaccines and YES I even specified what vaccines it will need . - I behaved extra good, and got good grades - I researched about cat breeds and located a shelter near us and explained the adoption process - I even promised them I would take care of it - I told them I was willing to pay out of my pocket money They still said no 😩 I am desperate for a cat please leave any suggestions on what should I do ( Ps, we live in our own house so there is plenty of space, and adoption here is free, and vet visit are so cheap here) Update; My grandpa got me a cat 😆 her name is Minerva she’s a grey Scottish fold ! Ikr! I try so hard, everyone I know has a pet except me :( one of my friends has two cats, a dog, and chickens, AND she takes care of all of them on her own. I don’t even know why my parents they say no anymore! We have enough money, enough time, and enough space, and the tips in the video won’t work, they never do. When I was 10 I got 2 gueinea pigs didn't look after it dad did 1 died the other now lives at my friends. I now want a fish and I'm lot older now and they still said no
@@dianemannion5902 yes I can see why, But maybe try to prove to them that you are responsible. For example, do your research. It will help so much if you did as much research as possible. Like what I did. I started doing a bunch of research on leopard geckos, then I put it in a power point and showed it to my dad. He's the only one who doesn't want me to have a gecko because he doesn't like reptiles. When I showed it to him, he seemed pretty satisfied, and now I'm probably going to get one.

Get a pet that will live a long time so they don’t have to experience it. I have a giant snail that can live for 10 years, a snake that can live for 20-30 years and a tarantula that can live up to 40 years. I also have two cats and a dog that can live for over 10 years. Cats can normally live for 13-16 years and a big dog can sometimes live for wuite long. Mine is currently 14 and I once had a cat that lived until it was 20. I really want Guinea pigs, although because of this video I think I know what I really need, a hamster. I chose this because there cute and because they only wake up at the late afternoons or at night time! This gives me more time to do my homework. Guinea pigs don’t have to be in pairs you can have them in pairs or u can play with them every day. If you don’t play with them from days at a time then consider getting a pair
Guinea pigs don't have to be in pairs. They dont bite or scratch really, they are so friendly. Hamsters are more viscious if you annoy them. They intend to bite more, Guinea pigs don't HAVE to have a partner, they are just really social so they like to comunicate with more than one of them but if you play with them regularly they are fine. Guinea pigs are like £10-£20 or $10-$20 depending on where you live.
The whinnie And Charlotte show guinea pigs do NEED a friend it doesn’t matter how much you play with them, there are some things that only guinea pigs can do with each other, for example, groom eachother!

Hi I need urgent help. I have two cockatiels around 4 months old. They seem to have been loosing feathers suddenly since 3 days. ( I find small feathers fallen on the cage floor - around 30 of them everyday since 3 days ) It doesn't seem like they are plucking them. I'm a first time bird owner. I can't differentiate if it's a molting process or feather loss due to some medical reason. However I fortify their seeds with a multivitamin liquid once in a week and also provide them with a cuttle bone. I need help as there are no avian vets in my country. Pls help.
They’re moulting, but seeds are very high in fat and cause obesity, I’d recommend giving them plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, just supplement with seed :(

My guide (usually works) Hopefully this will be helpful to you all! #1 - Research. Once you've researched everything you need to know, start giving out random facts about the animal to show you have researched. #2 - Be responsible. To take care of a living being, you have to take care of yourself first. Clean your room, help out around the house, etc. Just doing and offering things without being told will grab your guardian's attention. #3 - Be creative! Bring creative will definitely show your guardians that you are dedicated and devoted to taking care of a pet. #4 - Explain why you want and should get a pet. List down all your reasons you have possible, and show them to your gardian. #5 - If they ask questions that are not true, carefully tell them in a nice manner. This way, they'll learn a bit too. #6 - Dont give up, no matter how long it takes. If your truly dedicated, then you will do whatever it takes. #7 - Earn money, and if you cant earn money then earn your guardians trust. Show them you deserve a pet! #8 - Vist pet stores and shelters often so they can get a good idea of what you want and so they can learn a bit about the animal you want. #9 - do your best. You dont need good grades, that has nothing to do with an animal! But you should still at least study a bit, but make sure you show them that you have the time to study and take care of a pet at the same time! #10 - Before you convince your parents, you have to convince yourself too. Are you willing to do whatever it takes for your pet?
I'm about to vent. My parents told me "if I'm good" or "if I do my bed" (ok doing the bed for a month as like an 8 year old is pretty good (for me) anyways) I can get a pet. Whenever I meet their requirement, they make some excuse, like allergies, the house is being renovated, I won't take care of it (I will I'm not a baby anymore -_-) etc. It's so damn annoying!! Send them thousands of cute videos of the same pet, hint about the pet (like, when they ask what you’ve been doing say “Oh, I was just watching ____ videos. They’re so cute/cool!) and make jokes. Make a giant poster promising what you’ll do (kinda worked for me?) and put a lot of effort into it. It’ll really show you want that pet. Worked for me, I got a bird. If your parents even SLIGHTLY like the pet, and compliment it like “aww, cute!” Or something, THATS GOOD. That’s how I convinced my mother. Slowly made her fall in love with parrots.

Lone Dont give up! Four years ago, my parents would NEVER let me get a furry pet EVER! They were literally the most strict parents in the world. It took me four years of constant research, watching rabbit videos, and negotiating to get them to say yes. It took them two years to even consider it. Finally i wore them down and I'm getting two outdoor bunnies. :) Just keep asking, it might take years but they WILL say yes!

Im disapointed you didnt concider vet care etc for animals. Something that needs to be CLEAR when getting an animal in the familly is WHO pays for vet care. And if your parents put you on a strict budget with your animal, are they really up for spending the money a vet will cost?

If a family isn't looking for a long term commitment or life-long pet, I do suggest fostering. Fostering is a fantastic way for kids to get their puppy/kitten fix for a period of about 2-3 months until they go off to be adopted. Kids (if they are mature enough) are great for socializing rescued animals. Rescue groups desperately need fosters in order to take in abandoned or rescued animals.

I have tips for people trying to convince their parents to get a pet. 1. Be prepared to spend 5 years asking for that pet (It took me five years). 2. Research. Spend hours doing research. 3. Make room. Map out the area you will put the pet. 4. Save money. Save up the money for the pet. 5. Pick out items in advance. I spent hours picking out specific items I would get for the pet. 6. Birthdays. I’m getting a hamster in a week for my birthday. All this worked for me but It depends on the parents. I’m getting a puppy in a little less than a year and a hamster in 10 days.

My parents say that we aren't at our house alot. And some family members have allergies. I love animals and I have a hamster. The type of dog I want is a corgi puppy, or a kind of tiny animal. I feel horribly. What kind of parent would disappoint their kids like that? It is not the same as getting a phone, a laptop, ext. They just want to learn how to be responsible, and have a friend! I am 13, and my parents, (well mostly my mom) are CRAZY about animals! I am a huge animal person, and will definitely become an exotic veterinarian. I have 2 rabbits, 4 guinea pigs, 2 hamsters, 2 chinchillas, 1 hedgehog, 2 dogs, 1 tortoise, 5 fish, 2 cockatiels, and 3 rats. Which is 25 in total. I love them all to death and they all get a HUGE amount of space. Most are free roamed. It taught me how to be responsible, be more compassionate, and commit to things. Parents, if your child wants an animal, and you have the correct amount fo money, PLEASE trust them! You will not regret it. I swear.

Thanks! I have a Gerbil and i thought it would go well with another one as lately we have been out of the house. I think its better there are 2 so if we cant entertain them, they can. I convinced my mom very fast, but my dad OHOHOH He has strong decisions he said *NO* all the time to pets. Until i took a paper and pen, and searched online for info. A few days later i gave my dad some papers and he decided we can get another one!

Ok. So when I was born, my parents and I lived in a real small apartment in a city. I had always wanted a cat, but you couldn’t have pets in the building. Boom, no cat. 10 years later, we move out into the country with a house and yard. So I again asked for a little cat to give me happiness. My parents said no. So then I said, “well what about a dog?” My dad and I looked online and found a big dog for really cheap that we loved. We’ve had her for 2 years now. But.....my love for cats says strong. I then again asked for a cat, I would do everything for it, pay for it, clean up after it, buy its supplies.....but now my dad says no because of my age, when I go off to university in a few years, where’s the cat gonna go? Idk, I love my dog so much and I’m happy with her, but I think she would also love a little furry friend❤️
My mom said I can't get a pet because they die and everyone gets sad, I have a family dog that's being neglected and just being fed. I've offered paying for her and everything. They keep telling me it's not my dog, but she is! I take care if her all the time, I'm the only person she trusts. They left my dog OUTSIDE during a storm!! I'm so upset about it, she gets left outside in 90 degree weather! Please help me out!
Maybe tell your parents that you can keep the dog in your bedroom or in a spare room in your house. Or if that doesn't work maybe discreetly spend more time with your dog and play with it. Even offer to walk the dog 🐶 xx

It needs a lot more care than you think. You need to clean it's tank, feed it, ( it can't feed itself ) make sure the water temperature is good, making sure there is enough room, not too much food, not to little water... it's a lot of care, probably more than a bird
Lily Kapustin nooo way. Have you even had a fish or bird? Fishes can be hard but that’s not a lot compared to a bird. Like cleaning a tank, getting the right water and amount of food. If that is hard work then you are just lazy.
You can get an axolotl, they don't need a lot of care, you can buy the eggs for a good price, they're cute, and they live for 10-20 years. The only problem is that they need a 10 gallon tank, almost extinct, and illegal in some states including California

It’s definitely important to have good communication between parent and child. The cost, space, time and accessibility is no problem it’s the fact that my dad is terrified of snakes. But I found a wonderful boa constrictor who is perfect for me.

I bought my hedgehog with money I got for Christmas without my parents even knowing 😭 I planned it perfectly so the courier would bring it to my house with all its supplies while my parents weren't home so then they couldn't send the person away. If your parents are strict tho I don't recommend doing that at all cause my dad went MENTALLL over it!! Though both of my parents absolutely fell in love with my hog in the end!!

This is what I've done so far:
- I made 2 PowerPoints about cat care, I even calculated the cost of vet and salon visits and what vet we should go to and at what age we have to give the cat vaccines and YES I even specified what vaccines it will need .
- I behaved extra good, and got good grades
- I researched about cat breeds and located a shelter near us and explained the adoption process
- I even promised them I would take care of it
- I told them I was willing to pay out of my pocket money
They still said no 😩
I am desperate for a cat please leave any suggestions on what should I do
( Ps, we live in our own house so there is plenty of space, and adoption here is free, and vet visit are so cheap here)

@@dianemannion5902 yes I can see why, But maybe try to prove to them that you are responsible. For example, do your research. It will help so much if you did as much research as possible. Like what I did. I started doing a bunch of research on leopard geckos, then I put it in a power point and showed it to my dad. He's the only one who doesn't want me to have a gecko because he doesn't like reptiles. When I showed it to him, he seemed pretty satisfied, and now I'm probably going to get one.

I have a giant snail that can live for 10 years, a snake that can live for 20-30 years and a tarantula that can live up to 40 years. I also have two cats and a dog that can live for over 10 years. Cats can normally live for 13-16 years and a big dog can sometimes live for wuite long. Mine is currently 14 and I once had a cat that lived until it was 20. Guinea pigs don’t have to be in pairs you can have them in pairs or u can play with them every day. If you don’t play with them from days at a time then consider getting a pair
Guinea pigs don't have to be in pairs. They dont bite or scratch really, they are so friendly. Hamsters are more viscious if you annoy them. They intend to bite more, Guinea pigs don't HAVE to have a partner, they are just really social so they like to comunicate with more than one of them but if you play with them regularly they are fine. Guinea pigs are like £10-£20 or $10-$20 depending on where you live.
i had a hamster, their mean, and they die in 2 years. We have guineas, and they last 4-8 yrs, and their sooooooooo much nicer than hamsters.

Hi I need urgent help. I have two cockatiels around 4 months old. They seem to have been loosing feathers suddenly since 3 days. ( I find small feathers fallen on the cage floor - around 30 of them everyday since 3 days )
It doesn't seem like they are plucking them.
I'm a first time bird owner.
I can't differentiate if it's a molting process or feather loss due to some medical reason.
However I fortify their seeds with a multivitamin liquid once in a week and also provide them with a cuttle bone.
I need help as there are no avian vets in my country.

They’re moulting, but seeds are very high in fat and cause obesity, I’d recommend giving them plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, just supplement with seed :(

My guide (usually works)
Hopefully this will be helpful to you all!
#1 - Research. Once you've researched everything you need to know, start giving out random facts about the animal to show you have researched.
#2 - Be responsible. To take care of a living being, you have to take care of yourself first. Clean your room, help out around the house, etc. Just doing and offering things without being told will grab your guardian's attention.
#3 - Be creative! Bring creative will definitely show your guardians that you are dedicated and devoted to taking care of a pet.
#4 - Explain why you want and should get a pet. List down all your reasons you have possible, and show them to your gardian.
#5 - If they ask questions that are not true, carefully tell them in a nice manner. This way, they'll learn a bit too.
#6 - Dont give up, no matter how long it takes. If your truly dedicated, then you will do whatever it takes.
#7 - Earn money, and if you cant earn money then earn your guardians trust. Show them you deserve a pet!
#8 - Vist pet stores and shelters often so they can get a good idea of what you want and so they can learn a bit about the animal you want.
#9 - do your best. You dont need good grades, that has nothing to do with an animal! But you should still at least study a bit, but make sure you show them that you have the time to study and take care of a pet at the same time!
#10 - Before you convince your parents, you have to convince yourself too. Are you willing to do whatever it takes for your pet?

I have had many pets like a dog,chameleon,two turtles,two bunnies and we have many dogs and we have had many dogs to
I'm about to vent. My parents told me "if I'm good" or "if I do my bed" (ok doing the bed for a month as like an 8 year old is pretty good (for me) anyways) I can get a pet. Whenever I meet their requirement, they make some excuse, like allergies, the house is being renovated, I won't take care of it (I will I'm not a baby anymore -_-) etc. It's so damn annoying!! I stopped trying and completely gave up. I know I will just end up doing more work for nothing and I always feel angry after trying my best to show them I can have a pet they always freaking say no in the end. I'm a teenager now and I have started to obsess over a certain bird (which I have done research on its a good beginners bird and fairly low maintenance for a pet anyways) and for some reason I let my hopes get higher again even though I knew I wouldn't be getting one for a while. Probably because its been like over 2 years since the last time I tried to see if I could get a pet. My mom says the same thing, and I'm so done with this. When I was younger I was scared I wouldn't want a pet when I was older but I can see clearly this isn't the case. Literally in 6th grade my teacher asks who has a pet and guess what?! Everyone but me (not saying oh no poor me but rather wtf I'm old enough to look after a pet)

Send them thousands of cute videos of the same pet, hint about the pet (like, when they ask what you’ve been doing say “Oh, I was just watching ____ videos. They’re so cute/cool!) and make jokes.
Make a giant poster promising what you’ll do (kinda worked for me?) and put a lot of effort into it. It’ll really show you want that pet.
Worked for me, I got a bird. If your parents even SLIGHTLY like the pet, and compliment it like “aww, cute!” Or something, THATS GOOD. That’s how I convinced my mother. Slowly made her fall in love with parrots.

Lone Dont give up! Four years ago, my parents would NEVER let me get a furry pet EVER! They were literally the most strict parents in the world. It took me four years of constant research, watching rabbit videos, and negotiating to get them to say yes. It took them two years to even consider it. Finally i wore them down and I'm getting two outdoor bunnies. :) Just keep asking, it might take years but they WILL say yes!

If a family isn't looking for a long term commitment or life-long pet, I do suggest fostering.
Fostering is a fantastic way for kids to get their puppy/kitten fix for a period of about 2-3 months until they go off to be adopted.
Kids (if they are mature enough) are great for socializing rescued animals. Rescue groups desperately need fosters in order to take in abandoned or rescued animals.

I have tips for people trying to convince their parents to get a pet.
1. Be prepared to spend 5 years asking for that pet (It took me five years).
2. Research. Spend hours doing research.
3. Make room. Map out the area you will put the pet.
4. Save money. Save up the money for the pet.
5. Pick out items in advance. I spent hours picking out specific items I would get for the pet.
6. Birthdays. I’m getting a hamster in a week for my birthday.
All this worked for me but It depends on the parents. I’m getting a puppy in a little less than a year and a hamster in 10 days.

My parents say that we aren't at our house alot. And some family members have allergies. I love animals and I have a hamster. The type of dog I want is a corgi puppy, or a kind of tiny animal. I hope I can prove that I am responsible enough to take care of my hamster, to show my parents that I am responsible enough for a dog or a puppy. This video made my thoughts and downs go higher and inspired me to never give up. Thank you for making such a great video and telling us some reasons why out parents might of said no. Now I know why my parents always say no, no matter how hard I try.

An whole room for ferrets, enough money, (i don’t wanna offend anybody) no allergies and enough time. I even made a PowerPoint presentation about ferrets to show how well i informed myself i sat at my pc for 2 hours to get these informations i wrote 3 whole pages full of things i need to know and i still don’t got one
I feel horribly. What kind of parent would disappoint their kids like that? It is not the same as getting a phone, a laptop, ext. They just want to learn how to be responsible, and have a friend! I am 13, and my parents, (well mostly my mom) are CRAZY about animals! I am a huge animal person, and will definitely become an exotic veterinarian. I have 2 rabbits, 4 guinea pigs, 2 hamsters, 2 chinchillas, 1 hedgehog, 2 dogs, 1 tortoise, 5 fish, 2 cockatiels, and 3 rats. Which is 25 in total. I love them all to death and they all get a HUGE amount of space. Most are free roamed. It taught me how to be responsible, be more compassionate, and commit to things. Parents, if your child wants an animal, and you have the correct amount fo money, PLEASE trust them! You will not regret it. I swear.
