Your channel is what I need! I think that my parents will let me get a cockatiel. today we picked up a freaking huge cage! It’s was probably a four hundred dollar cage and we got it for 50 with heaps of natural wood perches and toys inside. I love watching your channel to learn about cockatiels!
i’m so grateful for ur channel! i’m looking into getting a cockatiel and ur videos are the most helpful ones i’ve found so far. they are simple and cute and u make all this easy to understand. thank u! :)
Might want to be careful. We lost a cockatiel years ago because she kept laying eggs repeatedly. She did it so much it had actually pushed her uterus out. We had to put her down. The last egg she laid was particularly huge which caused it.
@@robloxvideomaster44 i got a cockatiel and its 2 month old i don't know if it a female or a male its almost fully white i hope its a male cuz i don't want to lose my cockatiel that way
My female cockatiel doesn't make a sound unless she wants more food or if she is annoyed by something. We really fit together nicely cause I like my silence and she likes to just sit with me or around me and interact with me. Another wierd thing is that she doesn't like toys of any kind. She likes to chew on my glasses when i wear them but otherwise nothing.
Well said! People need to hear your tips. It's amazing how little people know about parrots in general and I'm glad you're out there helping folks learn more about tiels :D. (BTW - I LOVE cinnamon pearls and whitefaces! LOL!)
Thanks for all the information. I had a tiel land in my garden and was in a bad way; cold and hungry. I popped him/her in a box with some wood chippings I just happened to have, some wild bird seed on the floor of the box and a little eggcup of sugar water along with a nice warm radiator and hot water bottle under the box. I popped the find on FB hoping a local to me owner/breeder would spot it but nothing. There was a lot of head shaking and to be honest I really didn't hold out much hope.. The next morning I had a peep in the box and not a lot had changed but the bird was still alive. I whizzed off and bought a cage and some proper food and was dead scared as the bird was terrified when i tried to pick to up, I quickly abandoned that idea and used a tea-towel to transfer from the cardboard box into the cage "saved my poor fingers!" I put fresh food in one container plus some on the floor of the cage, some dried fruit in another and both plain water and and eggcup of the sugar solution, yet another night by the radiator. So 48 hours later I have a bright eyed full bellied happy 'if a little nervous' still tiel. Today I've cleaned the cage and surrounding area and popped out to get some millet sprigs ... Wow they were a great success and my new friend seems to be settling to his/her new existence.. Truth be told I really didn't want the responsibility of looking after this or any other little person but it seems we have some kind of attachment now .... ❤️ I think its a female but only because of the baring on the tail feathers and the less than bright orange cheeks but I know diddly-squeak about tiels as you might expect.. Learning fast though!
*Me, watching one of my 'tiels walk around me in circles, singing his little heart out while doing heart wings*: Well buddy, I had no idea you where a guy, shocking, really.
I got a pair of cockatiel siblings about 6 months ago, both gray, hatched on Aug. 4th so they are quite young. I named them Cooper and Finn. I'm unsure of their gender but my Finn looks a lot like your Charlie and is the most vocal of the two. Still working on taming and bonding and I appreciate your videos! 10:49
My lutino female is so hormonal right now. Everyday, like twice a day for about a minute her crest swoops back and she makes a cute quiet chirp and turns her rear towards me. It’s been going on for about a week and a half. Hadn’t seen her act like that ever since I adopted her. Thank you for these tips!
My cockatiel has stripes and has had them ever since we got her in October. at the time we got her she was already around 6 months. she also has way more grey then yellow but she sings a ton and learns songs we teach along with saying a couple words. she does heart wings when she sings I'm not sure if she is a boy or girl ahh!
My male ‘tiel is (officially) a ‘cinnamon yellow-cheek’. In layman’s terms... what would normally be gray has an undertone of very, very light brownish tan. Most people wouldn’t notice unless he’s next to a normal grey. Also, in his first year of life his cheek spots were yellow instead of orange. After his first molt that turned orange, but paler than normal. Basically, if you were to put him next to a normal gray cockatiel, it would look like somebody put a pastel filter over him. He also has a huge crest! He just melted his tallest feather out about a week ago, and it measured over 3 1/2 inches! He does the ‘heart-wing dance’ almost every morning as soon as I uncover him. As much as I love the sweetness of females, I am very glad mine is a boy. I have in the past lost a female cockatiel to egg binding. It was a devastating loss to be sure… 💔
I think I have a whiteface cinnamon pied cockatiel ( his head, all his flight feathers, his tail and tummy are white ,his feet and beak are pink with clear toenails). Definitely a talking singing heartwing male. He(Angel) was 14 years old around the 4th of July, 2020 and the doors have never been closed in his cages.Being fully flighted, he flies to my bed in the morning where he has his own pillow, loves, loves,LOVES head scratches. He also puts himself to bed at night when he gets sleepy . He is paper potty trained and very rarely has a poo accident as long as there are paper towels available to him. I can't picture my life without my birdie buddy preening himself on my shoulder. I really enjoy your RUclips channel and I enjoy finding a post like this one that I haven't seen before.

We have/had two cockatiels, one of whom unfortunately died earlier this past year. She and the one we have now were a mated pair and we miss her like crazy. But they were together for nearly seven years and she laid eggs many times and he even tried to mate with her several times; we'd see him try to mount her and they'd go at it. Well. About half a year after she died, "he" laid an egg. So they were a mated same-sex pair, lol. They were really bonded to one another and it's so sad that she's gone. I feel really bad for "him". But we're so used to calling "her" a "him" that we're still gonna call "him" a "him", since it doesn't matter to "him", anyway. After we found out we kept trying to catch ourselves and call "him" a she but just naturally slipped back into what we've normally called "him" for over six years. And it's so strange that while she was alive she was the only one laying eggs and "he" took on the male role, and when she finally died, that's only when "he" started laying eggs. ("him" doesn't look like a real word anymore)
