I’m getting a hand raised Lutino pearl cockatiel in about 3 weeks and I love watching all of your content I don’t subscribe to many people but you earned a subscribe and the bell I love you Shelly keep up the great work :)
Hey I have a Lutino cockatiel and love BirdTricks and they have their own pellet and toy line that amazing unfortunately they don’t ship there food out of the USA but overall amazing and cover everything about parrots
I got a cockatiel yesterday. Luckily, I was able to pick out, and hang out with her in the parrot store, so she is a bit used to me. I thought that she likes going onto my shoulder, and only mine. Turns out that she’ll be able to sit on anyone’s shoulder. Since I am technically her owner, and my family are her family, I want her to (I know this is a bit selfish) like me more than them. Ever since I was 6, I was amazed by birds, but I had NO idea that you can actually have a pet bird! Right now my cockatiel is on my shoulder, most likely sleeping. I’ve been hanging out with her a bit more, and giving her seeds while she’s around me. (Yes, I know it’s weird.) Anyways, thanks for this video! This was very helpful.
My bird is almost two years old, at first I really wanted a bird. But then I realized how much responsibility they needed. So my Dad kinda took over, now I’m trying to be a good bird mom. Trying to get all the information I need, we got my bird from a family breeder and think she may be inbred but we don’t know for sure. I have ordered a couple toys for my girl and I’ve been trying to spend as much time as I can with her because I didn’t realize how bad she needed the attention. She has been showing more of her personality with me instead of my dad, she loves to sit on your shoulder and loves to try new things. I love having her with me and I wish I would have been a better bird mom, the bond my father and her have is so adorable. She does have a bond with me, I’m trying to make our bond stronger than ever. I’ve been looking at foraging toys, regular toys, natural perches and other things. If you have any tips for me, I would love to hear them. ❤️
Birds are really fun, but definitely a lot of work. It makes me happy that you are trying to help out your bird and build your bond! Make sure you always give it plenty of natural branches and toys and switch them out every month or so.
thank you so much for all the helpful info! i remember when i first started researching cockatiels and this was the first video that popped up and at that point on i knew you were such a great youtuber! you've come so far and helped me so much. my parents are talking about getting me a bird in a couple months (hopefully a cockatiel, not a budgie!) and they're going to tell me tomorrow. wish me luck 🥰
I am getting a cockatiel in December (summer). I have already gathered some branches and researched some equipment and I am sooo excited. I just want to say thank you because you have given me so much tips and information and now I think I am ready. I am naming his Zazu (after the lion king). You are soo kind to your birds I love watching them sit on your shoulder and fly around! Anyways thank-you so much! You deserve a lot more subs! 😁💗
I have wanted a bird my whole life and have done a whole bunch of research and a cockatiel would be best for me and my family. I’ve now got a job and a whole bunch of savings/ I am getting my 2 cockatiels in only 2 months!
I have a tiel that was aviary raised and when I got him he did not want to interact with me but the thing helped me was not being scared of him biting me because his bite dosent hurt me but now he steps up when I ask (only when out of the cage) and is starting to destroy things haha. It cost me $180 for my tiels setup I got him a huge cage from gumtree for $50 gumtree is my go to website for cockatiel stuff
Avian Fashions makes bird diapers that double as flight suits, also according to Marlene Mc'Cohen parrots can be trained to fly to their stand or into their cage if they need to potty.
I bought a wild insted of a hand fed cockatiel from a brider to see how meny things I can teach it(I love my cockatiel named Kviki)I've made a pretty good job so far🥰🥰🥰
listen listen, for prices, if you have 1 birdy you have a choice of getting a cheaper cage that can be $50 so don't worry. toys you can find a 5 pack of them for 15 dollars so don't worry, most expensive thing is getting the monthly food and theactual bird itself which can be between $80-$150
I have 4 birds, a budgie and a cockatiel who compete for complete and total power over everything, a budgie who thinks he’s a cockatiel (he legit bows) and a cockatiel who thinks he’s a human
I have just got a new cockatiel and I also have two other budgies and they are the funniest things when they are together. My tiel is called Dusty however even though I would’ve got a rescue there was no homes in my area, I had to get him from the pet shop in my town. I’ve been watching all your cockatiel videos and I’ve been enjoying all of them. Keep up the good work ;)

Not really separation anxiety I get like visions of some black shadow I start shaking a lot, I get so scared, I run to my parents or my brother I feel safer I think having a little buddy will make me more comfortable and feel safer (: edit: Also im getting it from a trusted breeder I looked on Craigslist but there was no cockatiels near me, they have been socialized and they are hand tamed because the breeder we are getting my new buddy from has been hand feeding the birds and spending time with them and he had them since they were babies the breeder is actually my dad's friend's friend lol
Hi! I love your videos. I have a question for you. Over the course of my life thus far, I’ve adopted 6 birds. 5 were adopted as babies, and one was already 2 years old. Well, all of the babies started out super sweet (I even hand fed one myself for 3 months), but somehow after they grew, they all (besides the 2 year old) turned into biters and hated people! This is a big problem because then no one wants to hold or interact with them. So it’s like personality changed rapidly out of nowhere. One was a female conure, two were love birds, and one a male cockatiel. They were all worked with and socialized with the family and loved on. And all was totally fine for months or even a year. Then one day they ALL became biters. Super HARD biters. Why does this happen? 😭 I’ve had to rehome all of them but the cocktail I adopted when he was 2, he was nice when I got him and stayed that way! He is now 30!!!!!! Can you believe it? Aaaanyway, I recently bought a new baby cockatiel, she’s 3 months and very sweet. How can I make her stay nice? I really want to keep a cockatiel in the family as my old man cockatiel probably doesn’t have much longer to live as he’s already 30! And he’s been so amazing. Any tips? Any ideas as to why our birds turn mean? Thank you!!!!!!!!!

I got my budgie a few days ago and he does step up but he stays on one perch and never moves from it but he does also bite and I’m working on getting him to stop

"If you do not have a hand raised bird, they're not going to trust you" WRONG I got a mistreated cockatiel, parent raised, and never socialised, I put time and effort in and now 3 month later, he just sits on my hand and on my head and washes himself. So dont give up on your bird if he is parent raised because I managed to socialise a cockatiel that was scared of everything.
@@Lilady_3 may be, but I still do not agree with the way she told it, she could have indeed said it would take much longer, but she said they were not going to trust you .
Do not get me wrong though I love her videos but all I'm trying to do is say to people who are trying to tame their parent raised bird, and may be sad because they've just heard that their bird is never going to trust them, and I dont want them to give up on them and leave them in a cage all day, do you get me?
The thought of acting like eating a pellet made me laugh but it’s so true! My birds would touch fruits and vegetables until I started eating in front of them. As soon as they saw me with food they flew over to get a bite. It’s so cute 😊
My tiel was hand fed as a baby and was around people all the time so it took like 3 days for my bird to get on my shoulder and like a month or maybe more for him to let me scratch him

@@bylucerito thank you, unfortunately I looked at those cages and I dont have enough money for one that size he will not be in there all day it will mostly be a play/ sleep cage, is it still to small to be a sleep and play cage?
@@ashleygall8679 I would say it is probably too small, even just for a sleep and play cage. If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost? My cockatiels cage is 40 in tall, 30 in wide, and about 20 in deep from prevue pet products. I would really recommend it as it's the perfect size for a budgie, cockatiel, conure, etc. It was only about $100 but a really good cage for the price.
Exstrella make sure you do research! there are also lots of videos on RUclips how to tame a budgie and train it, or any bird in general. I really recommend the channels birdtricks and live laugh birds.

Now and the my Cockiteal sneezes. Is this normal? By the way I love your vids I’m 12 years old and I’m just starting my own channel... Animal Caring 101
It totally depends on your price range and preferences. Cockatiels are larger and more expensive. You will also have to buy a larger cage for them and more toys. I absolutely love cockatiels though which is why I decided to get one. They're generally super chill and cute and sweet and most can sing/whistle which is so fun! My cockatiel loves to whistle. Lovebirds would be cheaper, take up less space, and you could get multiples easier. In my opinion though, they don't bond to you quite as much and don't really sing. They are still a great option and super pretty though! (I hope this helps, but make sure you do lots of research too!)
Hey guys thank you so much for your help I’m still stuck on getting a bird it’s even tho two people are saying lovebirds and the other cockatiels oof ty tho :D

Can you like... go outside and see wild cockatiels? Do you have cockatiel breeders in Australia or do you just tame ones from outside? Sorry if that sounds dumb lol. But... do you?
@@keetsntiels5112 very true! Also some birds take a while to warm up to you, just keep working on bonding with it. Be careful with too much petting and cuddling however, it can trigger hormones in some birds.
With bonding and getting the birb used to you I've heard in my fb groups that some birb parents will read little short baby books and little golden books to their birb....
What do you think of clipping wings? I really want to get a cockatoo But I am not a hundred percent sure if I would want to clip there wings? -New sub by the way! Love your birds 💞 😁
my bird is a female, and when I see all those cute birbs doing cute stuff, i get sad. y'know my bird doesn't chirp a lot, and i don't have a lot of toys. I also don't know if she trusts me yet. she perches on my hand, and wants me to take her out of the cage. but it's not like the other cockatiels I see. also, how much time does it take for a cockatiel to love you? thanks a lot. I hope you see his because she is all I have ;c she is the first cockatiel i ever had, so i care about her alot. another question is that my father cut one of her nails to deep and it bleeded, will it come back?
It just takes a bunch of patience and effort, trust me. I have a female tiel as well and recently saved a male out of a bad situation. Your bird sounds like she’s starting to trust you! You can always make toys at home out of common objects. Also, don’t compare your bird to the ones on the media, like I understand how you feel but it’s really not fair on the bird. It depends on the bird regarding how long it takes to love you, it all depends on the bird but you sound like you’re getting there. Yes, the nail will grow back :)
Ok you are really good with your birds like awesome but I recommend to try to stop feeding your birds colored Pelops unless you have made sure the coloring if totally healthy😌love you

Natalie I’ve tried everything... I put my hand near her and she just bites me. When I have food she’ll eat it ONLY if she’s hungry... she gets more and more aggressive every day....
let’s gooo

I don't have merch anymore, I'm so sorry!
heyyy shelly
How do u edit the video, to add those others ones while you're speaking about them
when you made the advice videos i watched them i remember you were talking about candles. can i have them out but not burning? or should i put them somewhere the bird couldn’t reach? i am thinking of getting a cockatiel but i wanna make sure i know as much as i can before i do.
It’s the fumes from lighting a candle that harms them the most so it’s fine as long as you’re not burning the candle!
@saeshell, thank you for letting me know. i have a bunch of candles so that’s why i was asking.
IS THERE MORE STOCK OF THE JUMPER YOURE WEARING?! I neeeeeeeed it

Now and the my Cockiteal sneezes. Is this normal? By the way I love your vids I’m 12 years old and I’m just starting my own channel... Animal Caring 101
Heyy I’m getting a bird soon and I’m debating on getting a cockatiel or love bird please help me out ;c
Cockatiels
Hey guys thank you so much for your help I’m still stuck on getting a bird it’s even tho two people are saying lovebirds and the other cockatiels oof ty tho :D
Natalie tysm research is the best thing possible as well! c:
Somebody Help me please , i have bought two cockatiel yesterday , the female she lost feathers under her wings and on her belly and rubs its feathers , her poop is perfect and she is eating and drinking normally but the feather issue stresses me 😩☹
Definitely take her to the vet asap, it might be plucking, a skin issue, or some other medical problem.
Hi Shelly thx for this video 🙃
i love your videos shell i love your birds even more LOL 🤣 I cant wait till i get a cockatiel and i realy need youtube videos like yours for help ty ty ty so much for this video keep it up i dont sub to many people but i subed to you !
Can you like... go outside and see wild cockatiels? Do you have cockatiel breeders in Australia or do you just tame ones from outside? Sorry if that sounds dumb lol. But... do you?
If I’m honest, I’ve seen wild cockatiels once 😹 they’re only common in certain areas! And yes we do have cockatiel breeders here 😌
@@saeshell awesome!
Hey is there any way I can possibly tell what gender my bird before there first molt
Unless you get them DNA tested- then no
I just got my bird a week ago and it’s going good she steps up and flies to me but hates being pet or cuddled :(
Some birds don't like to be pet, and they never will. But let him or her get used to you first!
@@keetsntiels5112 very true! Also some birds take a while to warm up to you, just keep working on bonding with it. Be careful with too much petting and cuddling however, it can trigger hormones in some birds.
keets n tiels she like she lets me pet her but like DOESNT like it idk it’s weird
@@thespottedquoll837 what type of bird is she?
keets n tiels a white faced albino cockatiel at least I think she is albino she is white but her wings are very light shade of grey
YAyyy I’m earlyyyyyyy
My cockatiel the day I got he/she (there 3 months old so I can’t tell yet) they sat on my shoulder
With bonding and getting the birb used to you I've heard in my fb groups that some birb parents will read little short baby books and little golden books to their birb....
What breeder did you get your birds from?
Hey what did you use to film?
You should do something ASMR related, like I tried ASMR or me and my birds tried ASMR
I wish I could have your birds shelly! :( I have 4 but yours are soo cute!!
i NEED to buy some MERCH ASAP😎😎
my budgerigars always fly to my computer when they hear your voice xP
What do you think of clipping wings? I really want to get a cockatoo But I am not a hundred percent sure if I would want to clip there wings? -New sub by the way! Love your birds 💞 😁
Omg early
Can you eventually train your birds to come outside with you but not fly away? Or is that just not possible?
my bird is a female, and when I see all those cute birbs doing cute stuff, i get sad. y'know my bird doesn't chirp a lot, and i don't have a lot of toys.
I also don't know if she trusts me yet. she perches on my hand, and wants me to take her out of the cage. but it's not like the other cockatiels I see. also, how much time does it take for a cockatiel to love you?
thanks a lot. I hope you see his because she is all I have ;c
she is the first cockatiel i ever had, so i care about her alot.
another question is that my father cut one of her nails to deep and it bleeded, will it come back?
It just takes a bunch of patience and effort, trust me. I have a female tiel as well and recently saved a male out of a bad situation. Your bird sounds like she’s starting to trust you! You can always make toys at home out of common objects. Also, don’t compare your bird to the ones on the media, like I understand how you feel but it’s really not fair on the bird. It depends on the bird regarding how long it takes to love you, it all depends on the bird but you sound like you’re getting there. Yes, the nail will grow back :)
We love our cinnamon pearl cockatiel she is 2 years old and her name is snuggles and she does love to snuggle.she is very loving
Ok you are really good with your birds like awesome but I recommend to try to stop feeding your birds colored Pelops unless you have made sure the coloring if totally healthy😌love you
Thank you for the tip I just checked and it said the coloring came from fruit
