Not much of a roadbike? I don't know what you expected but the Monster series has always been the most fun and versatile type of bike on the market. I just loved my 696, it was agile like there was no tomorrow and you could touch the road with your ears during curves. Just a fantastic bike for having fun and feeling free.
I like the 821. Compared to my Z1000 it is alittle lazy in the low rpm range but its only an 821. Still don't think they gave the bike much credit for being second place. And they scored appearance way low, def the best looking.
What a silly shootout. When I bought my 821 Stripe, never once did these other two bikes cross my mind. My old SV650 can't remotely compare to the 821. Italian bikes are a lifestyle choice. You might as well do a shootout on Rolex and Fossil watches.
Matt KOCONUT I feel Aprilia always gets left out. The Shiver is a great bike, one of my favorite middle weights, just wish the dealer network was better. I would purchase a new one if so.
In Europe the Ducati costs almost double the price of the Yamaha (11.500€ vs 6.100€ w/ABS). Spending a few money on suspension and sport tires for the Yamaha gets you a very fun motorcycle to do anything with without braking the bank. Great review!
Giannis N That's for the MT07 and NOT the MT09, the price difference between the 821 and the MT09 is 1300€, so, stop spreading misinformation ;) Thank you kindly και άσε τον λαό να αγοράσει οτι γουστάρει φίλτατε Ιωαννη
NinjaDog578 The shootout is between the MT-07, 821 and SFV650 in case you didn't notice...And the MT-07 won! What misinformation are you talking about? Oh and another thing, MT-09 is 8.000€ so even compared to that there is 3.500€ difference! Φίλτατε ninja...
I start scratching my head and thinking there must be something terribly wrong with this review the moment realise this guys think the Ducati is the ugliest bike of the 3, according to their chart... what da F?!?
yes I'm confused with some of the description. i DO NOT want training wheels with my motorcycle, i want a ride that will make me PUSH myself to the limits of what i can handle and dish out, and be inspired as to my next ride and how i can improve it. Albeit, my bike is just for fun, not a commuter. that being said, the noise, screaming, visceral rush, adrenaline pushing cornering WITH BUMPS in mid-turn and how the duc's suspension eats it up is blissful to say the least....
Hmmm, the written review sounded really different. i expected the video to be pretty positive. I've heard you guys review a Monster before though I think and it was met with similar disinterest. Seems like it would be a great all around bike to me... I would be interested in more than 'meh' and thinking about the riders who will use it. One of you did a pretty good job in the videos though.
Aaron Colton, go back to school and learn what all those words that come out of your mouth actually mean. If you don't understand them, stick with what you know, -there's nothing wrong with that.
I usually enjoy M USA reviews but this one reeks of bias, that is, we're out to give Ducati a back handed slap. Firstly who would seriously being looking at comparing the Suzuki when purchasing the other 2? Lots of bikes have twins, doesn't make them comparable. I'd love a wager on what Suzuki sees as the competition for this bike. That stunt dude "the Ducati is an acquired taste". It's acquired if you like and good looking, awesome sounding (close to the best sounding stock bike) and good performance. The MT07 is a good bike but does have build quality issues (things move around a lot and the parts don't line up all that well but it does ride really well) and nowhere near the technology of the 821. On the whole this is the worst Motorcycle USA review I've watched. I've ridden the 821 and tossing up between this the 2015 F800r and Stipler. The 821 is a cracker bike that makes you feel pretty special.
I enjoyed the 821 test ride - it was fun but like they said it was faster in the top end which is not something I would expect out of a twin. I also think it is pretty ugly - idk why, the monsters look round and stubby to me. The Ducati Streetfighter is a much more visually appealing bike. Monster was cool but wayyy too expensive and I would be afraid of reliability issues like all my friends with Ducatis seem to have.
bullshit, i don't care about the money! i wouldn't change my ducati 821 dark for a shitty Suzuki or Yamaha even if i drank 3 bottles of wisky, Come on! If you understand about bikes and you like to ride you know the feeling you get from a ducati is priceless
these guys need to learn how to work with the electronics. the torque on my monster 821 is amazing off the get got and i've never had the abs kick in. i'm sure they had it in urban mode (lowest power and high traction setting) or touring (high power with less sensitive throttle and medium traction setting).
the one thing you barely touch on is price ... the ducati is considerably more expensive than the other two bikes ... in the UK it's the best part of £4000 more expensive!!! Here the MT07 is £6349 and the ducati is £10,100 ..... buy the MT, spend a couple of grand on some sweet suspension upgrades, intake and exhaust, ecu tune and a quickshifter and you'll have a bike thats a lightweight weapon, way more fun than the ducati and still have money left over for a seasons worth of sticky tires, premium fuel and drinks n snacks ;)
Some bullshit as usual! Just came back from the Swiss Alps and the cornering was awesome guys! It was just so much fun that I need another set of tyres :)
'Rough around the edges mannerisms'??? That's a really fucked up way around saying that all Ducatis fuel mapping is shitty below 4krpm. Meaning they're CRAP in city driving situations. Oh, another phase they like to throw around is 'snatchy throttle'. Of course, that can be fixed by buying Ducati's performance package - add $2000 for the exhaust and programmable chip. Add that to their over-priced bike and high maintenance costs and it's just a bike you want to take out of the garage about once every couple weeks. I owned one once... fool me once, shame on me...
Great bike to ride and look at, awful electrics and finish quality, beware this if you buy the 821 in the UK and dare to ride in less than perfect conditions, as Ducati UK say the warranty does not cover flaking paint/corrosion of metal parts (even if the bike has done less than 2k miles as mine had). Also had a total electronics failure after 1300 miles. Most arrogant dealers I've ever had to deal with, insinuating this is my fault somehow. Was glad to get rid of it and get out of the brand after only 2000 miles. Got a refund however as I returned the vehicle as not fit for purpose using the British consumer trades act. **Rant Over**
James Turner What did you or will you replace it with? I shopped an 821 against a Street Triple RX and ended up with the Triumph. That Panigale 899 is calling to me as well though lol.
I honestly hate how Ducati have taken their lower CC models and made them dual sided swing arms instead of single, In my opinion after owning a hypermotard. this has taken away a lot of interest in the brand for me, while also making an uglier motorcycle...

Oops, lost a radio at 0:54. Too much torque I guess :)

true that ! if appearance scores have been : DUCATI 10 YAMAHA 8 SUZUKI 7 then there would have been a tie (171) too :P
Awesome bike .. No words about Ducati .. Always fantastic ,, all bike great .. I have monster 821 is great bike to ride ,, love it 😊😊

Something fell off the bike?
+Jayden Valentine Ouch!

+ViennaDisco Well said.
ferraris and lamborghinis have their quirks. if i can own one, ill except their deficiencies
You all have some serious hair style issues...
Wheres the Aprilia Shiver?
Matt KOCONUT I feel Aprilia always gets left out. The Shiver is a great bike, one of my favorite middle weights, just wish the dealer network was better. I would purchase a new one if so.
Shiver the best...
+Matt KOCONUT What year is this? 2015 or 2009?
Azusa to Crystal Lake, it was nice meeting you guys when you y'all did the Scrambler shootout. Honest review and friendly riders.
I'd like to see someone address upkeep cost between the bikes.
What canyon is that?
Woah that chick really doesn't like ducatis....
lol
These guys always give negative sounding reviews of everything. Do they even like motorcycles
i don't think monster821 goes in the same category as the mt07 and sv650 you guys have in this comparison
In Europe the Ducati costs almost double the price of the Yamaha (11.500€ vs 6.100€ w/ABS). Spending a few money on suspension and sport tires for the Yamaha gets you a very fun motorcycle to do anything with without braking the bank. Great review!

What dropped at 0:54??
According to their rating chart Ducati is the ugliest... wow these people need a new set of eyes each!
They also rated the Ducati as the worst sounding. They probably need new ears as well.
Two pieces of industrial japanese plastic is better than italian design refined for 25 years apparently. :/
Anyone know what that red helmet is?
+damnlogin Shoei rf 1200
Jason Patterson thx

+GRRB looks stuck in the past. and not in the good way. kinda melted sport bike look.

One very simple answer to why the Ducati monster 821 doesn't have that signature V-twin torque is because its a narrow-head L-twin....
Hmmm, the written review sounded really different. i expected the video to be pretty positive. I've heard you guys review a Monster before though I think and it was met with similar disinterest. Seconded. Notwithstanding the validity of his points and what he was TRYING to say, he needs to pick up an English textbook.
Lose something at :55?
They liked the SFV650 a lot more but still gave the Ducati 2nd place...?
archinuk417 suck testers ..do it all the time
We really don't like the motor or riding it but it's a second place bike.
People will buy it just because its a Ducati
thebigwarthog no, they'd buy a 848 streefighter
Weaselbeak75 My thought exactly. Didn't really care for the bike and it's expensive, but it's gotta finish ahead of the lowly Suzuki, right? Right?
***** ducati pays more for sponsorship than Suzuki ;)
terrible review man

Ducati. Is the best hands down
