SKATER XL CONTROLLER FIX JULY 2021 CONTROLLER NOT BEING DETECTED AT GAME START FIX

EDIT***DO NOT DISABLE HID-COMPLIANT GAME CONTROLLER AS A BACKUP SOLUTION, LOOK AT COMMENTS FOR MORE SOLUTIONS IF V-JOY ISN'T YOUR PROBLEM**
HEY GUYS, THIS SHOULD FIX YOUR CONTROLLER IF YOU CANT GET PAST THE START MENU WITH YOUR CONTROLLER EVEN WHEN STEAM IS RECOGNIZING YOUR CONTROLLER. IN STEAM, MAKE SURE IN CONTROLLER SETTINGS THAT THERE AREN'T MORE THAN ONE CONTROLLER OR VIRTUAL CONTROLLERS RECOGNIZED. EVEN IF ONE DEVICE IS "HIDDEN", UNHIDE TO SEE IF YOU HAVE A V-JOY DEVICE BEING RECOGNIZED, THEN GO TO DEVICE MANAGER AND DISABLE IT IN HUMAN INTERFACE DEVICES.

Unplugged my extra USB’s an wouldn’t uno it. My damn controller worked fine. Without any deleting/ disabling or anything. Just plugged it in the top usb port and I still had my mouse plugged in the back. Just pulled the rest of them out lol.

i have a nacon pro controller and it doesnt work at all...cant play this game anymore since 2 months and i dont find any solutions

I have this issue but do not have a vjoy HID component.

1.disconnect all usb peripherals (other than mouse & keyboard)
2. plug in controller you want to use
3. see if steam pics it up
4. if it does, start plugging back in usb devices, eventually you will find the culprit, that usb device which steam is picking up as a controller.
give that a shot pal

@@RetroRivera I know I can get it to work by unplugging all my peripherals. But I have a lot of them. And this game is the only one that requires this. I’ve never encountered it on any other game. So I’m not unplugging 8 different peripherals just to play this game. Thank you for the quick response though. I actually finally decided to install session and the controller work beautifully with it. Not sure why easy day thought this was acceptable or showed no interest in fixing it.

There’s tons of solutions in comments, try unplugging all peripherals other than mouse keyboard controller and do a process of elimination until you see what peripheral steam is confusing as a controller

Does your game show you xbox button prompts(layouts)?

i believe so, there was a way to get the PS controller w/button layout on screen before but it was really complicated and maybe only worked if you’re using a DS4. i’d say if you got the troll working then just ride w it
