Thanks for watching Greg - you're welcome my friend. I really need them right now - the whole roof of the car needs a good dose of sanding/grinding - they are coming in very handy - thanks so much for sending them.
It warms my heart to see you using the MILLER MIG WELDER. Old reliable is how I refer to your welder because it is a transformer welder not that inverter junk that burns out after a couple of years. I also use your TWIST method on my mig gun when welding, seems to give a better contact weld.
Always remember Bill, I-CAR people are I-CAR people - most don't work in body shops or if they did have limited experience with rust repair. Trust me - you can leave gaps. If they were right there would be no gaps between spot welds on the rocker panels or any other panel.
Awesome Jerry. You take the intimidation factor out of restoring a car for those who may be beginning. Others might look down on this type of panel installation. However methods like this cut down on time factors without compromising integrity of the repair. Not all of us can spend numerous hours a day on our hobby. Keep on bringing us these great tutorials!
Nice Work! I did that exact spot on 69 Mustang and I found A BIG difference in sheet metal quality between the wendors. I bought the whole skin for right quarter but it was 3/4 in too long (made in Taiwan). Mustang also has that kind of body line on top of the marker light and it was 1/2 in too high. I bought a Canada made patch panel and it fit much better 👍🏻
No. Weld through primer is for pinch type factory spot welders that don't add metal. MIG welding adds metal (the wire) - none of that will be coated so you'll have to protect it in other ways. The best prevention is coating or protecting the seam afterwards - like drainage so it can drain and dry and this - ruclips.net/video/y05dNxt-nVc/видео.html
Every time I see you working on your project car I think man this is going to look sharp when you finish I as much as you can't wait till that day nice video as always 😅😅
Thanks for the analysis! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (mistake turkey blossom warfare blade until bachelor fall squeeze today flee guitar). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
You've got a great little welder - heavy though 😪 I use .023" wire, heat is on 2, wire speed 35, gas 75/25 mix at 20 CFH. If you are burning through turn the heat to 1 - leave everything else the same.
@@LakesideAutobody .......yeah it is heavy compared to ones today......but thanks for the tips and ill be using it this spring to fix the trucks rear quarters
Awesome video Jerry, love the AMX project. That car is perfect for your channel. Are you going to keep the slots, or go more original? I really like the factory mag wheels on those too. Have a good weekend, man!
I would like to keep the slots but don't want to put in the work to make them shine 😒 I'm thinking of new 5 spokes like CRAGARS or AMERICAN RACING with white letter tires - I like the factory wheels too myself 👍
Aye emm exx's are notorious for having extensive "surface rust" in the rear quarter panel area. And once the "surface rust" dissolves over 25% of the panel, the best way to stop is to just go ahead and replace the section, hence this video.
@@LakesideAutobody ......yeah its a 2012 chevy avalanche ltz i bought used 4 years ago and i knew it was all bondo in certain places......and i knew this day would come......i was thinking of just using spray foam and shaving it to shape and throw a skim coat of bondo then spray can it black and call it a day........i just hope i can get a inspection sticker is all i care about.....and if i get rejected for the foam backing filler ill do it the proper way with metal......really enjoy your channel and you are always willing to help people
That’s a nice looking patch panel. Lines look nice and crisp. Thanks for the shout out too. Have a great weekend Jerry

Beautiful, and bonus that the patch was available. Love how you do lap welds! Looking FWD to the tapping down
You're right - good to have the patch panel. Have a good weekend Stephan :)
Thank you so much for your straight forward and easy to understand instruction.

Hi Jerry! Wow, that looks great! Now if only true bodyshops did it that way! Have a great weekend!
Thanks for checking it out GM - always good to hear from you. Enjoy the weekend :)
Ooph! Took an I-CAR class a few years ago. Cant have gaps between welds. I understand you are not fixing a new one. Thanks for the show, sir.

Jerry you make it look so easy great video it makes me so happy to see you working on your classic car buddy
Thanks 👍 - thanks for watching my friend - have a good weekend 👍😊
Great video!.... Love those slots!
Slots ruled when I went to high school - nothing looked cooler. Two slot rims and two fat tires and you could turn an LTD into a race car 👍
Good timing currently doing this on a ford 1971 mach1. Good info. Thanks. Have great week.
That Mach 1 is one of the coolest cars around - have fun my friend. Enjoy the weekend :)
Looking good!
Thanks - enjoy the weekend my friend :)
Great work as always! 👍
Thanks - glad you liked it. 👍

@ Spectra Premium

Thanks for watching - I appreciate it 👍
You make it look so easy brother...👍
Thanks Cap'n
Great job brother
Question from a newbee: Do you ever use weldable primer? Can you mention what your thoughts are as to when and where and how to use?

What about butt weld clamps?
You can certainly use those if they work for you :)

Thanks for sharing your experience Mr W. Enjoy the weekend 😊
yeah i went to kick off a chunk of frozen slush off the back of my chevy truck and it disintegrated on me, the rear quarter panel that is
Very depressing sometimes actually - you try to make the car last and that happens 😪
