    Saw these guys twice as a teenager. The whole band was awesome but Marriott was a force. Saw them do this on the tour for Smokin’. Made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Amazing stuff.

    This was a 2 show night for Humble Pie, I was there for the first show, my brother the second and it was incredible, Had a T shaped stage and as soon as it started Steve walked out on the T and shouted out in his distinctive British Voice "Well this is as F*&*&ing close to the Fillmore as we can get aint it" and they went right into Four Day creep... If ya closed your eyes you'd have thought you were listening to Rockin the Filmore on the best sound system in the world. One of the Best concerts I've ever attended other than a couple Pink Floyd shows...

      I thought this was November of '71, no? I know I saw them at the Academy post Peter but before the Smokin' album came out and I have a bootleg of the show so, is it November?

    This is great and gives Steve a chance to show of his incredible harp playing.

      Exactly the comment I was looking for. Steve on harp, is a discipline of the blues

      Here here -- I agree Robert Plant said he thought Steve was the best voice in rock back then.

    Thanks for who ever dug this up and posted it. I always loved this song and I thought it was very unique blues song. Hey does anyone know for absolute sure if Steve or Clem played the lead guitar on this song?

    • @Seventysongs
      @Seventysongs Год назад +1

      Yes, it's Clem Clempson. Years ago on his Face book page I talked about how much I liked the recording of "I wonder" on the Smokin album and asked him if he had done both solos improvised. He was surprised and happy after so long... and told me that the two solos were recorded improvised and on the first take. And I agree with your words. I Wonder is The blues. Unbeatable.

    @ Ole Neilsen, I beg to differ! Steve Marriott IS Humble Pie...period. Frampton's pretty voice and pretty face had no place on this eardrum busting, hard hard rocking bluesy band that blew the roof off at concerts!

    • @tefenstrat
      @tefenstrat 2 года назад

      Both Steve and Peter would just say that they were happy to play together

    • @GordonBenny

      Nope he wasn't, this was just before they went back to the UK after the Filmore and Frampton went back to NY to work on the remix of the Filmore album as the origional mix had no audience sound on it.

    • @GordonBenny
      @GordonBenny 6 лет назад +3

      Humble Pie was Framptons band, Steve was the last to join. They were GREAT friends long before and after Humble Pie, I can never understand why people want to compare musicians and praise 1 while criticising another, real musicians NEVER do that so why do fools on RUclips talk shite???
