That's a very cool watch! I'm not just saying this as a Восток fan but that look, friction bezel, and the large crown with aggressively knurled gives it a Восток 420 look. Love all the functions without looking busy. Very subtle yet functional. Awesome!

Really nice looking vintage-inspired piece. I love the thinness of this chrono! Even with the boxed crystal. Amazing! I wish other manufacturers could achieve this as wel.

Great review! I love NG’s Chronographs and hope to get one this year. I tend to think the price is reasonable compared to other Chronographs with similar movements. I agree $1,500 would be amazing, but even around $1,700 retail is near the low end of the Sellita/ETA/Valjoux Chronograph range. Off the top of my head, only Christopher Ward really competes around $1,500 with these Chrono movements. Even Hamilton with the scale of Swatch Group and ETA behind them don’t set their retail prices below $2k for the Intra-Matic Chronograph.

CW is what I had in mind when I was talking about $1,500. But you're right even at $1,700 I think it's a great watch!

It's a handsome reissue, for sure! And, less $200 (for any watch), is always great, for sure!
I have a Farer mechanical chronograph that uses the same movement and it's a solid accurate movement. It's not as compact as this being 42mm, but the l2l is still relatively short at just a little over 45mm, if I'm not mistaken, and the thickness, or lack there of for a mechanical chronograph, is quite good.. I want to say it isn't much more, of not a little under, 14mm.
Anyways, this is a perfect example of how and why modern mechanical chronographs need not be beastly in proportions.

And they offer more dial and hands selection which is very nice. I think the price is high, especially with a leather vs. steel bracelet. And with the optional steel bracelet, you end up at about $2,000+ pretty high....

It is nice looking. I like mechanical watches. Mechanical Chronographs can get pricey and service costs are quite high. I used to want an Omega Speedmaster reduced and I think at the time it was less than the watch being reviewed but the service costs some people said were more than the watch was worth. I think the watch is priced a little too much. I am not an expert. I know the affordable ones have seagull movements but it is very old technology.

I bought the same watch, but with the broad arrow hour hand. But why doesn't your review model have any text down at 6 o'clock? It should say "Chronomaster Aviator Diver", unless it's a prototype. [p.s. - Ball and others continue to use Tritium lume.]

I was ready to pull the triger on an orange boy, til I realized saving just a bit more could get you into really amazing stuff. Like Nomos, solid gold vintage GS's, some older double Seiko/GS signed Spring Drives, or vintage AP's etc. Lots of interesting stuff at $2-3k.

bought all three Nivadas. The Chronomaster came defective (and was not
new either). I was supposed to prove this with a video, which I did.
Then happened: NOTHING MORE. The "service center" in Hong Kong was said
to be unable to send me a back label, so I had to have the supposedly
new watch repaired at my own expense. I'm not even completely sure
whether the watch also contains the specified movement, because two
comparison watches react completely differently. Every buyer is asked by
NG to give a positive rating on Trustpilot after the purchase - hence
the high rating on trustpilot. But look at the one - and two stars. Same
    experience ...

Funny that all reviewers rave on about drilled lugs, not a fan myself - I find them ugly & it's really not hard to change a strap with a good thin springbar tool.
Don't like box crystals either, look too vunerable to knocks.
Too small, too pricey compared to the opposition. Absolutely should have a display back, that's the only thing that appeals about a Chronograph imho - sold my Hamilton 7750 after I found out the service cost !!
    Cheers mate 👍🏻

Solid casebacks should never come stock on a watch, ever. They should only be an option. Display casebacks are the way to go. The same with dates. And the price has kept me from pulling the trigger on this one, especially with no option of having a display caseback.

    • @michaelg8258
      @michaelg8258 Год назад

The solid caseback is part of the original design, which is an essential part of this release. And, in any case, at this price point, with this movement, I prefer it.

It's funny how suddenly every watch channel is now making reviews of this particular brand... Makes you wonder how much money goes to the watches themselves and how much goes to the marketing department.
It just shows you how shady the industry has become with the implementation of social media platforms.
