I'm debating taking on my first mural... It's a place I frequent a lot so if I do this I really can't mess it up lol. Thank you so much for sharing all this, your channel is really gonna help me make an informed decision on whether or not I wanna do it, and if so, how to go about it.
I just spent 6 hours on a brick mural and it sucked! I used so much paint 🤦♀️ Really wish I had this video earlier lol. But the spray paint was awesome compared to paint from hardware store. You share great content! I’m a fan of your work 👏👏👏
I just started making murals recently and your videos have been very informative and super helpful in my process. Thank you for spreading your knowledge Detour!
I was asked to do a Mural and I’m wondering do I need to power wash the outdoor wall before applying paint? The wall isn’t “dirty” but it’s outside lol
@@iamdetour Really helpful. I'm just starting another mural project on two metal buildings. I'm so scared of the paint not sticking I had set my mind to using a primer... they are kind of beat up and not in great shape. I think I'll use a primer to be safe. I'm also thinking on buying a sprayer. I don't do murals on the regular but it's a 2200 sq foot space ... do you think the smaller hand held sprayer would work?
@@iamdetour BTW. I was wondering who your art influences are? Who do you look at? I find your work super inspiring so I'm curious who has inspired you.
Hi! Your videos have been so helpful! I am doing my first outdoor mural art on existing painted masonry wall, and was wondering if you would typically wash and remove all the existing paint from it prior or just prime over it. THanks!
Its not on that topic specifically but in this video i talk about the process of painting on the corrugated metal and why i priced it the way i did and the decisions i made because of the surface.
@@iamdetour thank you 🙏🏻 for your response. So I’m looking to take on my first job on corrugated metal. It’s what I would call a simple job for someone with your skill set. I was looking to use a projector but wondering what issues could come from the uneven surface…. I really would love to do a great job for the client and too see more work in the future, any suggestions help. Thanks again

When you paint on corrugated metal what paint do you use and do you recommend I seal it with a top coat for anti graffiti or something along those lines? considering marine grade opoxy
And I would say the longevity is based on the quality of the house paint that you get. I get external use paint so it is made for lasting outdoors. And when you get really good primer and helps to make it last even longer. Adding a topcoat also helps to protect it from the environment.
Kind of you to share your knowledge. Great vid friend 🙏
Thank you for your videos! I was recently asked to paint a mural on the side of a building and I’ve NEVER painted a mural. 😬
You are so helpful, I'm a full time artist and always love learning new tips from you.
I'm so glad!

oohhh nooo! Brick sometimes sucks when its raw. definitely prime as much as you can to keep it from eating up all your paint.
This is so helpful and informative. Thank you!

Wow you do amazing work! I’d love to learn more about sprayers/airbrushing so I look forward to videos from you on those maybe!

Do you have a video that focuses on how to paint a mural on rib galvalume metal walls?
Its not on that topic specifically but in this video i talk about the process of painting on the corrugated metal and why i priced it the way i did and the decisions i made because of the surface.

Question: do you charge extra if you have to prime an entire wall?
Nah. I always account for priming the wall myself
Is there a primer that’s clear? Seems hard to find
What is the average time frame to complete a large scale mural?
its different for everyone but for me its about a week
I watched you paint the murals at Stanley in Denver and couldn't figure out the method to the madness. It's a pleasure watching you work.
@@daynawortham7026 🙏🙏🙏 glad you got to see the process!

What about metal?
The are primers that can be used on metal. the Kilz2 primer can be used on metal as well
@@iamdetour thank you, I saw that later on your video and realized I asked too soon! Thank you for your response
