- What’s up everybody. In todays video, I will be doing an unboxing, assembly, and initial review of the Killer Instinct Burner 415 Tactical Crossbow. This is a high quality entry level tactical crossbow that is a great Value. I got this on sale for $319 at Dicks Sporting Goods which is already a good deal and then used my Scorecard points savings to get the total price much less.

I've used this crossbow with the factory supplied arrows and have hundreds of shots through it with no limb issues. Only problems I've had are the string serving separating and the stock collapsing on me when I fire a shot. Replaced the string with a hand made one from a guy I found on a crossbow forum and it cured the issue. Much heavier duty piece. Since the stock is compatible with AR-15/M4 stocks, I put a standard one of those on and all the way collapsed it ends up being the same length of pull as the original was when I adjusted it out. Original one to the bow would actually beat up my shoulder because the recoil would have a ways to jump and build inertia before it crashed into the shoulder. I even contacted them about it and they were great, sending me a complete replacement under warranty no questions asked, but it was doing exactly the same thing, thus my solution.
I don't see myself taking shots at this range but I did set it up at 70 yards one day and I was able to shoot 4 inch groups with it. I don't know if you're going to get much better than that with a crossbow, and that's well within the vitals if you pick the right aiming point. I also don't know how much better than that I'd shoot with a gun in a hunting situation. I took a doe with it first season I owned it. 35 yards quartering away. She jumped the string a bit so it hit higher and further back than my aim point. Entered the gut just in front of the right hind leg, penetrated all the way through the body cavity, took out a lung and the aorta on the way through and exited through the top of the rib cage just to the right of the backbone, so really beefy rib bone there. Passed right through no problem and she didn't make it 60 yards. This is why I wanted the fast bow, for good arrow penetration if you get a bad shot placement or the arrow hits a bone. The 2-inch expandable broadheads from Rage are unbelievably good too. Couldn't be happier with this setup, especially for the money. I've never owned a bow that wasn't at least a little bit finicky, so I feel like the issues I've dealt with are par for the course. A lot better for me than dropping $1500 on one of the really high end ones and having marginally better performance.
I have the same crossbow, on its second season now. Wanted to get into crossbow, but not knowing anything about crossbow hunting did'nt want to spend alot of $$. For starters threw the bolts that came with bow and bought Carbon Xpress Pile Driver a much heavier bolt and used Mega meat I believe G5 or 6, cant remember broadheads. Sighted in at 35 yards and thinned out the hogs with ease. So far a happy camper with this bow
I bought a kI, lethal 405 on sept27th...october 24th it split a limb...thanks alot killer instinct !
Wow, that’s crazy. Did you contact their customer service? I’m sure they would replace the limbs for you.
Yes the bolts they send are to light. Just use a heavier ones. My wife shoots the same crossbow and sense day one used heavier bolts with no issues

15shots sighting mine in the limb splintered. Emailed them an got new parts sent and back in the woods. Register that bad boy for the warranty shoots fast!!
Read up on the limb problems most people recommend a heavier arrow I’m looking to buy one myself.

The rail oil goes on the rail and you need string wax for the strings
I got the same one less than 300 at dunhams. So I should get heavier bolts and arrows?
You don’t “need” to get heavier bolts, it’s just a suggestion.
What scope comes in the box, because the one you got looks nothing like the LUMIX 4x32mm IR-W scope that's advertised in the images and package information.
I’ll have to look but the scope I have is what came in the box/kit I purchased.
I doubt you respond but my bolts don’t screw in all the way, do you know how I could fix this problem?
What do you mean? The tips don’t screw in to the actual bolt? Try different tips or maybe get new bolts? I have a video posted on some low cost but pretty good value new bolts I got from Amazon. amzn.to/3tOScGn
@@DieselLegiance Oh no, the tips screw in fine. The bolts used to put the riser on are the ones I meant, sorry, I should have been more specific.
You mean on the bottom? There were a few bolts I struggled with too at a few spots on assembly. Because of the tension, try to put some pressure to line up the bolt holes.
I've done a ton of research on these Killer Instinct crossbows and have found a lot of issues with them. Any issues with the limbs splintering or breaking yet? Also, I have found out that Killer Instincts Crossbows are manufactured in Taiwan, not USA. This is even on their website under FAQ "Engineering, design, testing, sales, customer service and marketing are completed in our Frankenmuth, Michigan and Windom, Minnesota U.S. offices. The bows are manufactured in Taiwan." This video was 10 months ago how has your crossbow held up? look forward to seeing a follow up review? Thank you for the video.
I’ve shot it multiple times since this video and have no issues with mine. Maybe the older ones had this issue?
The issue is; everyone is out for speed. Screw speed and shoot for kinetic energy. Shoot nothing less than 500 grains

Not for nothing but at 16:50 in your video when you are moving and loading the crossbow, not a good idea to be putting your fingers and hand in the path of that string. The safety might be on but accidents do happen.

Correct, it was my first crossbow and I did make this mistake.
Have you had any issues with the limbs?
Not yet (fingers crossed). I’ve practiced with it many times and so far, I have not had any issues.

Put weight on your arrows..tips or inserts. I shoot 450 weight arrows out mine. Had it for 3 years still shooting like a champ
And odd colored fletching always goes down
Look, if you use the junk light weight arrows and your limbs break, just know that you deserved it. You drank the xbow manufacturer cool aid for max speed by redlining your xbow. Heavy arrows are more efficient with high FOC and I would never hunt with an arrow under 650 grains. I shoot an 800 grain 19 inch arrow out to 70 yards no problem and accuracy is scary. My broadhead weighs 400 grains. Bow is quiet.
I rarely ever hunt with my crossbow. It’s more for sport and target practice. The video was not to be the best crossbow for top notch hunters like yourself. The video was really to show other people that for the money, it’s a very good budget crossbow. Not many people can afford $800+ crossbows.

OMG, just read the included manual please ! All these vids are misleading !! Common sense safety is where this individual has none !! He puts his hand and arm in the cocked bow area !! Read the manual or have someone else to read manual to you !! Pay attention to the safety photos if you have little to no common sense !!
OMG 😱 relax…I’m not a professional just as I’m sure you were not an expert on your first crossbow. I never claimed to be an expert either. It’s a simple product initial review for the newbies getting into their first value priced crossbow. The video was not a test of best practices to appeal to the expert bow hunters. If your such an expert than why are you watching the video, should already know this stuff…
