Your 'cash only' policy for illegal parks is in place for the very reason that you see unfolding before your eyes. The owner of the red car tried using a card even though you specifically told him cash only. They were trying to push you into taking the card, but when you stood firm, they suddenly had the cash. You know they wouldn't have been off of your lot yet before they'd be disputing the charge or saying it was fraudulent. When you've been burned enough, you learn quickly. As far as your fees, a damn pickup truck costs $70k, I can imagine how much your vehicles cost. You don't operate a business to break even. Love the channel.

If businesses don’t… well, do good business, its bad for *everyone*. It may start small, but its one of the situations where I’ve seen the slippery slope really apply. You have to be willing to cut return customers a reasonable break, or else you won’t have a return base to serve with stuff like this. Its basic business. Serve happily and generously with your services, but don’t get taken advantage of. Thats the key.
Your cash policy on impounded vehicles makes perfect sense!!!! They can dispute the charge and WILL and checks can be canceled.Can I speak to the manager. 🤣
I wasn't sure why myself. I've paid a ticket with a credit card once. (First time in a city where you have restricted parking.)
It never once crossed my mind to dispute it. I was healthily educated and I have hundreds of reasons why it'll never happen again.

Plus when the owner of the Illegally parked vehicle call they throw a fit and then Jeff has to deal with the cry babies when they pick up their Illegally parked vehicle!

That's the reason when I sell something now, its only cash or a form of payment that they can't get their money back from. There's just too many shady people out there to deal with cards. I only pay with cards myself but if someone tells me they only take cash, I'm not mad and I just get cash for them.

As a person who has been towed, You plain know you are parking illegally and you gamble it will still be there when you return. AND after you are towed it is the very Last time you do so. Chalk it up to life's lessons.

$500 to pay the guy who towed your car because you’re parked in a parking zone is ridiculous. Sure you’re responsible for parking but that’s just taking full advantage of the situation. I have never in my life heard of that type of fee for towing.

You’re a grown ass adult and can make grown up decisions- if you decide to park in a tow away zone and you get towed away… well its kinda like pissing straight up and hoping you don’t get wet. I understand parking is frustrating sometimes, but patience and showing up early helps so much.

I’ve noticed a lot of people who try all the excuses in the book are the ones who actually can afford the tow.
But the ones who just pay out usually can’t afford it. And never try.

Great work brother. I've worked in this business for over 30 years. We also have a cash only policy. In fact, most yard I that I know of use the same policy. The only person who would argue that is someone who probably has intentions on a charge back and we don't work for free!
I don't really disagree with the policy, and I as well use to tow, but there needs to be a way and I know there is a way to prevent a charge back in case people try that, I mean you can't buy something from Walmart and use your card and do a charge back successfully, but I don't own or never owned a business, but I do know there is a way to prevent that as a business, unless im missing something, just seems like a huge inconvenience for both parties in todays digital world ya know.
@@VikingDudee there Might be a way around the charge back But there's no "charge back" to deal with when it's cash. As for inconvenience that's on them for parking in a spot they shouldn't.
@@VikingDudeeIt is slightly different with towing vs a purchase. Your not buying a product your paying for your own property to be returned that you never consented to having a lean against. So people can argue that someone illegally towed their car and scammed them. Same with if your computer gets a ransom virus. You can dispute those charges.
Now would the towing company eventually win the dispute? Probably. Do they want to sit on the phone with credit unions, banks, and credit card companies all day long emailing videos proving they didn't scam someone? Nope. That's time and money.

We’ve been at this small parking lot before, tiny spot just for employees. Yet constant illegal parking, how do they even find it? And there are several easy and acceptable places to park legally. I don’t get it.

Just boggles my mind. I come to Gatlinburg all the time. I pay to park all day so I don't get towed. $20 isn't anything to park for all day, and your car is waiting on you when you return. My daughter lived down there and said she saw you all towing illegal parks every day. $20 is cheaper than a tow. Love watching you all your both so sweet.

Jeff and Kristen, I would advise you NOT to change your policy for illegal parks. If you do, you'll get cheated because they WILL DISPUTE the credit card charge. I've only disputed a card charge once -- when the hotel lobby at which I had a reservation had 30-40 feet of sand in the hotel lobby as a result of a hurricane that went through that area. The card was processed 2-3 weeks BEFORE I was supposed to be there!

Wife had a miraculous recovery
When I worked in G-burg Convention Center back in the day, I parked over off Reagan Drive where the fire department is now. it was a big lot, but all CC employees could park there with a permit. Man, it was like pulling hens teeth if you got there late at night. So many tourists parking there in what was labelled permit only. It was nuts. Wish you guys were available back then.

WOW! I now know why I wouldn't make a good tow truck driver. I've had a couple vehicles repoed over the years, but when they showed up to tow them, I went out and gave them the keys. You all are just providing a service. If they are mad, their problem is with the one who called the tow company. Impressive patience and restraint. My family and I have been going to gatlinburg for years and never had a problem parking. We always park in a garage behind the aquarium all day for 10 dollars.But you are going to have to do some walking.

I'm so glad that you record the exciting ones! I really love the tows from town, they tickle me. I can't help it. I have been to Gatlinburg and it's not an easy place for traffic, but all people have to do is use common sense! You can't park where it says NOT TO! Your way safer paying to park! Then you don't have to worry about your car not being there when you get back to get it, unless you park in a NON-PARKING spot! I understand that people want to save money, but if you get towed then you are really PAYING to park!
