Thank You Gregg! After setting up and filling my portable hot tub for the second season, one of the valves was leaking. I called Intex and although very nice they were not at all helpful. I found your video on youtube and ran out to purchase perma tex. It worked immediately! I ended up purchasing the dark grey (not red) tube as my hardware store did not have the red in stock. After going on to perma tex website I found the only difference is that the red is for more permanent applications and as I disassemble my hot tub in the spring, it's probably a better option for me. Thanks again!
Thanks so much! I used your link and bought the Gasket Maker. I have applied it and am on my 1 hour wait time before tightening. Even now I have no leaking from the A and C valves.
Thanks for this information. We were about to get into the tub and discovered it was half full! Took a few minutes in the twilight to find the leak. (I hope it's the only one.) Tomorrow I will give it a shot. I think I may have extra gaskets received when I got the tub, but it will take daylight to solve this problem. Your solution looks great.
Thank you so much I appreciate it I am a new hot tub owner I got an intex inflatable hot tub pure spa plus its winter here so I haven't set it up yet but if I have problems with this know I no how to fix it have a beautiful day God bless you always
EXCELLENT!I'm currently trying the same thing on a torn O-ring on my blower union tube with some E6000, but it will probably harden on the end of the tube before I'm able to reattach it to the hot tub due to a couple rainy days we're having so I'm not putting much faith in it, but GREAT to know there is a better product for the job. They want $14.99 on ebay just for the replacement O-ring.Now if I can only stop the water leak underneath the water intake tube coming from out of the tub (I filled the space with Great Stuff last year and it worked til now). Thanks for the video!
Great video thanks for the info. I have a leak as well. Didn't notice it until I changed the water out. Not sure it's a valve. Is it possible for something in the control panel/box to leak
I have a Coleman Saluspa and the A (air) line has been leaking about 4-5 gallons of water per day. I had to steal a gasket from the Cap that comes with the unit. You are correct when you said, good luck getting a gasket from the manufacturer. I'm wondering how I can use this Permadex when this gasket goes or gets lost because the A gasket has an L bevel on one side and is not completely flat?
Sometimes these same gaskets deteriorate or break because of the use of chemicals in the hot tub. Does it help to keep them fresh by using a product as a gasket lubricant and coating those seals when first assembling the pump initially? Pool/spa 0-ring gasket sealer is about like the same lubricant that scuba divers use on their masks. Lube Tube and Aladdin Magic Lube are common examples being sold at hot tub sales areas and have PTFE in them.
Thank you! I'm probably the least handy guy you'll meet, but this seemed simple enough and was doable... and better yet, it worked! A couple of questions: At the end of the summer, when I take down the spa and put it away for the winter, will the gaskets come off, or have I effectively glued the motor to the tubes? If they come off, I assume I'll have to create new gaskets next summer? And if they don't, is there any good way to separate the motor from those tubes? Thank you again!
It's a strong-ISH rubbery type cure. You should be able to get it apart and peel it all off. Then, toss that piece of trash and buy a better tub. Lol. Kidding (sort of). Do it again next year. Also, your very welcome! Happy to help.
After cleaning the spa, clean water, ready to go... I plug it in and lot of black stuff (looks like large black sand) shoots into the spa. Why, where? what to do?
Does it sink to the bottom? If so, Vacuum it up, or use a Turkey Baster to suck it up. Did you replace the filter? Perhaps it came from the filter. Did the water spend any time with the pumps off, or without chemicals? If so, maybe it's some kind of Algae
I have a slow air leak, replaced the air valve and it's 80% better, but I feel the air comes through that oring on the side and not through the middle now. I think this might work there.
Do you know if this leak causes the E90 error on this unit? The company is useless and have tried everything to address the error. We do have a drip coming from this area and were curious if that error code could be caused by the small leak
Intex support absolutely sucks. You talk to people in another country with virtually no English at all. I believe E90 is a lack of water flow error. Sooooooo, there may be an air leak, that's causing a lack of suction to move water through the heater. Is the water moving? If not, and you can reach it with a HOSE, press the hose against the intake, and turn the water on full, then start the pump
A few things to try for E90: 1. Clean or replace the filter, power down and restart 2. Power down and restart then run the bubbles through before the error comes up - I think air gets into the system somewhere. Good luck.
Or the rod in the impeller pump is broken, that will give you the E-90 error. There is a youtube video on how to fix it. Its really easy, I fixed mine in about 15 minutes and cost about $10 for the part @ home depot.
I just got my brand new Intex spa, followed the instructions to set it up... filled it with water and now I have a slow leak coming from what seems to be underneath, or it could be coming from the A or C valve where it screws to the blow up tub and pooling underneath....any suggestions as to what could be the problem?
My vote is one of the Valves. Check to be sure they are on straight, and the Gaskets are in place, flat, and not crooked or bunched up in any way. Consider plumbers tape, or a thread sealent on the threads.
@@GreggAdventure Similar problem, used tub all summerl last year fine. Kept in basement till now and it seems to be leaking underneath control base. the gasket is there but came off when i was setting up the tub. just plumber tape that gasket?

HI Gregg. I tried your tip with the gasket stuff. It worked for the bottom, but the top one was still leaking. I tried the fix with the water shooting out and did the best I could. Inevitably the red stuff went everywhere and as I started to screw the piece back on I saw that it got all over the threads. It was also all over my hands not sure how that happened. Sort of funny, but challenging to open doors and figure out how to get it all off. Everything was great. The pump started up and started to heat. That was a few days ago. Now the plug has blown the outlet and won't start in a new outlet. I looked that up and a few things I've been able to find is that it's a motor issue. Do you think that the gasket stuff could have gotten inside and screwed the whole thing up? Not sure what to do. I looked up if the pump motor things are easy to buy separately, but nope. And now the spas are more than 3 times what I paid for mine several years ago. So sad. It's such a great therapuetic thing. Any advice? and I can tip for your help. thanks
ah and on another look it seems there are other brands that are at a decent price if I have to scrap this whole thing, sad. thanks for your tips on the current one if you have any.
I suppose it's POSSIBLE, but, I feel like it's unlikely. That said, these aren't the best quality things. When working with stuff like this, you want to be sure it's DRY when you do it. It's possible that the GFCI has burnt up. you could try removing it, and installing a new one. They are a little pricey, but you can get them on AMAZON or Home Depot. The one on that pump is pretty hefty. I actually cut it off and put it on my REAL Hot tub, as it was better! The 1st thing I'd do, is see about replacing the GFCI plug, to rule that out.
I put ALLOT of work into a repair for a leak at the Bubbles valve.... I eventually bailed. Your situation may be different. If it’s a connection, then yes, it should be able to seal it
Hi Greg! Great video! I ordered the permadex thru your link but after doing some diagnostic, I realized that its actually the "A" valve that is leaking (on my hot tub model, this happens to be called the "C" valve) - I believe this is connected to the bubble ring. The shape and size of my "C" is slightly bigger than my A and B, and has screws. Should this work for that valve as well? I'm nervous to take it apart but need my hot tub back!
Hi Nicki!! So sorry for the slow reply. Been swamped with comments on my other Channel @Playwithgregg. Have you had any luck? I have one of these Pumps in my Yard, in a junk pile and I'm gonna try to dig it up to look at it. Can you email me a pic of your valve? Gregg at cerenzio dot come.

The problem is, Permatex, and 5200, both require DRY, to set. If you can get them dry, and use either, you won't need the O-RING. Actually, if you use 5200, you'll never get it apart again! Lol, but, it won't leak, like, EVER. O-RING is the best route, but, if it's a permanent setup, 5200 will definitely stop the leak
