Thanks a lot, guys!! Glad you liked it. We can’t wait to share part 2 - finishing up the list now!!
I’m starting to think that no one would hate kuih keria, i made this kuih back when i was studying in Scotland for my housemates and they all loved it especially my friend from Slovakia, she kept asking me again and again for more.
So nice you made kuih keria for your housemates. It is a wonderful treat and we agree that it would be hard to find someone who doesn’t like it, unless they really don’t like sweet potato
You guys did a fabulous job putting this together. Can't wait to see part 2.
Really appreciate it, guys! Thank you. Stay tuned - it’ll be out soon 😁
Top 50!! Glad you guys are getting more people's eyes to Malaysian food! 👍
Absolutely! Malaysian food deserves more attention around the world
Everything on your list looks interesting and tempting! I’ve already been craving Malaysian food from watching your current series in Malaysia and now this only makes me more intrigued!! Looking forward to part 2!! 🌟
Thank you!! You should try your hand at some Malaysian cooking at home
Wow top 50! Malaysian really have so much variety of foods thats why top 10 is not enough 😆
So true! A top 10 would be a real struggle to narrow down. Even getting it down to 50 was tough 😂
And many other food like laksa Sarawak, latok, ambuyat and other food from Borneo Malaysia
@@muhammadzulhairi613 Only got to try Laksa Sarawak + Kolo Mee. Excited to visit Sabah + Sarawak someday and try all the food
New sub, coming over from Santos Chronicles and glad we did! Everything you showed looks amazing!
What you have done to experience all this...wow. To take an undesired problem and make it opportunity, embrace where you are...(wait, slobbering)...and make it a palette upon which to shine...(now getting hungry)...just awesome, you two!
Thank you so much! With all things considered, there’s no place we would have rather been over this one year span than Malaysia. Really fortunate to be there
We would be up for eating pretty much anything that's chicken or seafood just to experience it. Rojak Mamak looks so flavorful. It's so fascinating all the cultural influences in the cuisine.
So awesome! The key is to be willing to try something at least once. We couldn’t agree more - a big part of what makes Malaysian food so special
This video remind me my old days when I used to rush along Malayasian coastal food courts to enjoy these foods and internet, escaping 5 star buffet in my cruise ship.
Haha can totally see why!! We would get tired of the buffet too and want that delicious Malaysian food 😁
I visited Malaysia for my honeymoon nine years ago…. Such an amazing place .. the food 🤤 Can’t wait to go back 😊
Wow Jumi, what a compliment: "eat before you die". Make me feel so happy and proud that you appreciate our food. Thank you.

So many food options! I wanted to comment on each food Ive had or ones that looked appealing but there was so many! Now I need to watch part 2!
Haha can’t blame you at all!
Good and succinct description of the dishes
This was really well done. Everything looked so amazing 🤤🤤
Really appreciate it! We had fun making this one
I already know this video is going to be amazing
Thank you!!
Yes to Kaya toast. And Char Koay Teow! So many great dishes. Ufff, those beef noodles! The bean sprout chicken reminds us of a dish in Korea.
Yesss unlimited great dishes! Oh cool - which one?
Thanks for sharing 👌 good vd
Thank you for showcasing Malaysia to the world
It is our pleasure. We love Malaysia and showcasing it
Wow. Thanks for the bucket list!!!!!!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching
Bean Sprout Chicken looks amazing, and the banana cake looks so nice! We remember seeing you guys hit up all these spots and all the amazing presentations and styles of food. We have seen Roti John highlighted so many times.. it's seriously something we would have to try! It was fun hearing you narrate this episode today Jumi!! Fun video and love you guys to the mother effin' moon!
Haha yes! The Roti John has been in a few videos of ours. The banana cake is amazing and we couldn’t get enough of it.
Thank you so much!
The encyclopedia of Malaysia Food.
Thanks Greg and Jumi.
Thank you for watching! We enjoyed putting this together
anything wrapped in banana leafs.. you know it's about to be a flavor bomb!
You already know!
This is quite a list guys and after a year in Malaysia this is the perfect video to put together. Hokkien Mee is something we want to try.
Thank you, guys! Had fun putting this video together. Hokkien Mee is awesome - both styles. Think you can find the KL style in Chicago and maybe even the Penang style. It’ll often be called “Prawn Mee”
Nasi Lemak!! Kopi and Cham 😋 Hokkie Mee... man, we have a lot of eating to do and try! Great job with the descriptions.. can't wait to see the next 25!
You definitely have a lot of eating to do! You guys should film at a Malaysian restaurant in Jersey sometime. Thank you so much!
Missed the premier but late is better than never. 😜 As usual, making me drooling watching this, especially with you ending the video with char SIU, SIU York and roasted duck 🦆 which I'm so familiar with 😋😋😋😋😋
No worries, KC! Thank you! The Chinese roasted meats are a must on this list.
That roast duck from Melaka is still some of the best, if not the best, roast duck we’ve ever had!
What a great video
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Good job. Very detail and correct. You even eat as a local with hands when it was necessary which was very different from other visitors who were less accomodating ..
Thank you very much! We were so lucky to live in Malaysia for a year, visit so much of peninsular and meet so many great locals. We learned so much about the cuisine and still much more to learn!
Wow 1 year in Malaysia 🇲🇾 time flies when you're eating great food huh 😂👍 all your selections in this list are so on point. You guys really have eaten your way through an incredible assortment of yummyness. Even the regional specialties like ipoh white Kopi and Sata 🤤 mmmmm banana cake so many things on here we have added into our own list for when we go back!
Can’t believe it’s been a year! You’re right 😂😂
That’s been one of the great things about being here for a while is being able to visit so many different states and towns and trying more of the regional dishes.
You must!! When you go to Singapore next, cross that bridge to JB and feast on the banana cake and all the other amazing food there. You won’t regret it!
Greg and Jumi, thanks for sharing this awesome video with us. Even though l'm a Malaysian, l have learned so much about our food from you both. Thanks a bunch guys.
Looking forward to Part 2. Have a glorious weekend. Cheers !!! 💞😍
Thank you very much! Means a lot to hear that and glad the video was informative. We really enjoyed making this one! Excited to share part 2.
Thank you and hope you have a glorious weekend too! 😁
@@FoodandFootprints 👍👍👏💪💞
Everything looks very delicious 🤤🤤
Love your video ❤❤❤
It is! Thank you so much
As a malaysian.. Wow thanks. This is so on point. You really did your research. Now I'm craving for some foodddd 🤣
Really appreciate it! Grateful we were able to spend a whole year in Malaysia and get to try so many foods and visit most of West Malaysia during that time
A country with a good coffee culture makes a visit a whole lot more worthwhile. American coffee culture was interesting, but nothing quite like what we saw from you in Malaysia or here in Turkey.
Totally agree! We love when a country has a great coffee culture.
Holy cow, can't believe you have been there for a year now!!!! Time sure does fly. Nasi Lamak is something I would love for sure!!! Out of all the things that is the one I would like the most I think This series is probably something that took forever to edit withall the BRolls. I think Baby Rosalie would like that giant toast the the best!!!!
Time sure does fly! We can’t believe it ourselves. Nasi lemak is a must and a great choice if you had to pick one to try out of them all.
It took a while, but we have the footage from earlier videos pretty well organized so we knew where to locate it all. This is a video we’ve wanted to make for a while and really happy with how it turned out.
Would like to see her try kaya toast someday!
Jhakash video frand a few
Thanks for watching
Damn Greg and Jumi... a whole year, that is incredible! Definitely can imagine after a whole year you had to cut down just to get to 50!
It is! Still amazed we spent a year in Malaysia. Haha it was tricky to narrow down for sure. Also had to get clever with classifying them. Could have easily included 10 of one type of dish like the kuih or some of the dishes in our next video
dishes i never tried and wanna try:
1/ Sata - missed this one when i visited terengganu.
2/ Kacang Pool - never knew it existed til you all introduced it. 😅
3/ Masak Lemak Cili Api - i can't take food that are too spicy... especially after i gave birth to my boy... my tastebuds changed to > totally cant handle any spiciness. i dont know why. 😩
Definitely try sata next time you are in Terengganu. We ate so much of it at the roadside place we went to and the auntie and uncle were so sweet there! Also found a family selling it by the jetty on the way to Perhentian
Kacang Pool is so good! We have heard you can find it outside of JB too, but we didn’t have it anywhere else.
Masak Lemak Cili Api definitely packs a real punch! Interesting how your spice tolerance went down 🤔
@@FoodandFootprints
Definitely will try sata the next time i am in Terengganu!!! 👍
As for the spice tolerance, it happens, and it happened. so, no choice.
it is kinda nolstagic to think : i used to have chili every meal.😂
Yes...me too. I havent try quite a number of these dishes. Hidden gems....
We are not super big into pork dishes, but we will definitely make the exception or two to try them out when we finally make it to Malaysia. especially with all the amazing dishes you have showed us.
They are a must!
Really appreciate the professional work that both of you have taken the effort to name and explain the disches that you have eten and will follow all coming shot that you have taken and not forgetting the New York adventure ....Live to eat and not eat to Live...Selamat Jumpa Lagi
Thank you very much! We have wanted to make a video like this for a while. Live to eat - yes!! 🙌
great upload
have a nice day
Thank you!
I just had Nasir leak few weeks back!! You can't go wrong w this iconic dish
Nasi lemak is where it’s at!
Nicely summarize..
Thank you very much!
Glorious foods! You guys are expert now. Already Malaysianize
Glorious is right! So happy we’ve been able to spend a year in Malaysia. Thank you!! Wouldn’t say we’re experts, but we’ve learned and tasted a lot
@@FoodandFootprints keep up the good work and glad to see you both are really enjoying the foods; learning the culture and the history.
We appreciate that. Definitely enjoying it 👍👍
Omg. I didn't know we had so many treasures here !
So many treasures in Malaysia! More to come in part 2
Love me curry mee!! Probably my top 5 bowl of soup in Malaysia
Great choice! Love it too
Finally Malaysia food, not KL food like most youtubers
Glad we got to visit so much of peninsular Malaysia and try lots of different dishes 👍
Wow, love it....
Thank you very much!
As Malaysian, I qpproved. Great food suggestions, make me hungry haha 🤤👍👍
Thank you so much! Glad you approve 👍 Stay tuned for part 2
@@FoodandFootprints sure, myb you can also include nasi dagang or satay for part 2.👍

3:36 Siam Road Char Koay Teow
Such a legendary CKT in Penang! 😍
Yesss definitely one of the best! Glad you guys went there 😁
Waiting...
Thank you! Hope you enjoy
What i would do to try some of that char koey teow!!! :O I am such a sucker for noodles, you guys are killing me with this T.T
That char koay teow is incredible good, guys! We made sure to eat a ton of it in Penang
That banana leaf rice looks like a celebration dish. Those sweet potato donuts, yum! Yes to roti John! Haha
Haha that’s a good way to put it! Banana leaf rice is always a feast. Love the kuih keria! We just saw them included in a new Food Insider video too
Third. Thanks for this premieres in 5 hours. Look forward to watching it later, d first part of d best 50 food.
Wonderful photo cover of d video. I can see nasi kandar from Penang, nasi lemak from KL n char kway teow, with d Petronas Twin Towers in d background. Excellent.
Thank you! Funny thing is we remember you suggesting we should make a video like this. We smiled because it was already in our plans, just like when you suggested the KL nasi lemak video. Clearly you have good ideas 😁
Thank you so much! Jumi did an amazing job making this thumbnail 😁
@@FoodandFootprints U n Jumi, a great team. 😁
@@FoodandFootprints I only have ideas, u guys r way ahead with planning n execution. 😁
Please give me a few days to process part one!! Looks so delicious!!!! I need banana leaves in my life!
Haha take all the time you need! Some great dishes with banana leaves in Malaysia. May even see another one (or more) in part two 😁
Now is Ramadan. Malaysia has a lot of evening pasars selling all varieties of kuih and Food. Every year during Ramadan we have hundreds of our cultural food. Hope you can come again.
Banana leaf rice with curry and biryani... yea we still want to try it to this day.
You must!! Nothing more satisfying when you have a big appetite
What a wonderful start with d humble nasi lemak, my all-time fav food, a Malaysian national dish, or perhaps, a heritage.
No better dish to start off a video like this than nasi lemak!
@@FoodandFootprints U r absolutely right. 😁
Nasi lemak is our national dish, man..should be the one leading the list.
I would eat all of these dishes!! No, seriously I would!! 🥰🥰😍😍
Love to hear that!
wow,it make me hungry lol....even some of food i didnt eat but u video is nice and good lol :)
Thank you!!
U guys have definitely captured d essence of d Malaysian food n its flavors. Excellent.
Thank you! Being in Malaysia for a year really exposed us to so many flavors, dishes and importantly more details about the diverse cultures. And to think we didn’t even make it to Borneo yet!
@@FoodandFootprints Borneo, keep it in your bucket list. 😁🇲🇾😁
@@Yasin_Affandi Absolutely! We will come back to Malaysia again specifically for Borneo
@@FoodandFootprints 😁😁😁
You guys actually ate a lot of food in a year! And this excludes Greg's pizzas.
We did! And even beyond the food we highlighted in these two videos, there was so much more deliciousness that we didn’t even film!
Wow! 50! Now that’s a long list.
Even narrowing it down to 50 was tough!
Amazing how they use those Bamboo stalks to steam rice!
It is! And what was so cool is that we just stumbled onto this place while walking around KL
Kudos to you. A good list. A happy guy with full stomach.
Can't wait for part 2. Hope to see satay, ayam percik and ramly burger to make in to the list.
Rendang - adding that there are also rendang ayam (chicken rendang) and rendang kambing (mutton rendang).
The "Kuih" shown is too little. We have many more kuih (snack) - ether fried, steamed, with gravy and so on.
Hopefully there will be Ramadhan bazaar with relaxed MCO, then you have more food to try and review.
Thank you very much!
We love those three - definitely deserving of being on the list.
We love rendang too - tried those two along with duck and beef. Kuih was tricky because we wanted to keep the video flowing, so that is why we kept it quick with a few examples, but mentioned how there is a wide variety of sweet and savory snacks. Could probably make a whole video like this about kuih alone.
@@FoodandFootprints Good to know you the three.
Yeah, maybe if possible a separate videos on kuih alone.
Also you may consider drinks on its own. I would suggest a topic on how rice are prepared as there are variety ways such steam, cook, bake, and fried, etc.
I want to try kaya toast one day in malay! A must in the morning
Definitely! You’ll love it with some kopi or cham (coffee with tea mixed)
