Cool video, thanks for posting. There are so many great places to visit once you are there. For a history of the Berlin Wall, Bernauerstrasse is a must see with it’s open air museum and visitors centre, the Wannsee lake and parks, Stasi Museum, Hohenschonhausen Prison. The list goes on…..

I've always avoided Berlin, but I think you two have done a very nice, informative and stress-free vlog. Since I was raised in the Cold War, and actually taught in two communist countries as an exchange professor, I'd be especially interested in Checkpoint Charlie and the East Berlin historical museum. I'd also like strolling through the Tiergarden and seeing the animals from atop the dome, but I don't think I could now manage those steps. Oh well. These days I don't live too far from the German border, and for my husband and me I think it would be a fun drive to a less populated city nearby where we could leave the car and take public transport into Berlin to check out these hot spots. Cheers
Thanks so much for watching!! Berlin is definitely a rapidly changing city. It has an extremely difficult past, but the present and future feel exciting and new! Taking public transport into the city would definitely be a great way to go, the city is extremely well-connected. So glad you enjoyed the video 😃
The Berlin television tower was not built by the Soviets. It was built by the GDR. It was planned by East German architects (Günter Franke, Fritz Dieter, Gerhard Kosel) and built by East German workers.
One thing…. As a West Berliner, the Ampelmann is still an East Berlin thing. It’s not on the traffic lights in the “west”. But love your take on my Hometown 👍🏻
Watching from Canada and moving to Berlin June, 2023. Your video is the best I‘ve seen about Berlin. Keep up the great work! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 P.S. I’m going to school in July around the corner from Checkpoint Charlie on Charlottenstraße.
The Berlin television tower was not built by the Soviets. It was built by the GDR. It was planned by East German architects (Günter Franke, Fritz Dieter, Gerhard Kosel) and built by East German workers.
The kiss: It is not two German men. It is General Secretary of the Soviet union Leonid Bresjnev and the East German leader Erich Honecker, October 07, 1979. It is called a "bruderkuss" (Brother kiss).
It was so interesting learning about all of the history, and seeing so many expressions on the wall. What a fascinating city, not many cities went through what they went through
A nice and informative video, but the TV tower was not built by the Soviets. It was built by the GDR and the GDR was not a Soviet state. Unfortunately, you often mix up socialism, communism and the Soviets. These terms are not interchangeable and have different meanings.
It’s so crazy to think about the concentration of influences in one city. It was really fascinating to explore. Thanks for watching and for the info! 😄
Hey guys , thanks for so informative video. Can you guide how much time is required to cover all the places you have shown in the video. Also, anything else to be covered in Berlin. I am planning a 3 day trip to Berlin. Thanks and keep up the good work and keep helping the fellow travelers. Cheers
Thanks for watching, so glad it was helpful! 3 days is plenty of time to do everything in this video, and maybe a little extra. Berlin is HUGE, and there is so much to see. You definitely won’t run out of things to do!
Good on Germans for owning up to the atrocities they did in the past and building memorials in the center of the city. Americans, Chinese, Japanese, Turks and many other nations should do the same.
There is another error: The Berlin television tower was not built by the Soviets. It was planned by East German architects (Günter Franke, Fritz Dieter, Gerhard Kosel) and built by East German workers.
overall good -- but contains some factual errors -- the Fernsehturm was built by the GDR, not "the Soviets" -- the person who kisses GDR party and state leader Erich Honecker is not "another East German politician" but Soviet leader Leonid I. Brezhnev. Also: the division into a sinister and totalitarian East vs. a free and self-directed West is a little too sweeping and simplistic. "Belgrade" and former Yugoslavia were never part of the Eastern Bloc and had a economic and political system quite different from the one in the Soviet-dominated realm. Details matter. Finally, the GDR's Stalinist and post-Stalinist model of state "socialism" should be more clearly distinguished from other forms of socialism, such as democratic socialism, socialism from below, and critical Marxism as an analytical tool. The DDR-Museum is too sensationalized and does only provide a very superficial take on actual life in the GDR. One learns much more by reading Katja Hoyer's recent book "Beyond the Wall."
Many, many +++ Mistakes in the whole walk through Berlin. It's not only the Mistakes its wrong what you talk. I'm a City Guide in Berlin Capital of the GDR from 1986 until 1989 and from 1992 until today for whole Berlin.... Wolfgang Berlinü
Why is it, that you travel to Ber-LIN, to see the BER-lin wall? Would somone make up their mind as to how to pronounce the city? The proper way would be Ber-LIN - so where's that BER-lin atrocity coming from???
Hahaha, never noticed that before! There is a town called New BER-lin in my home state, maybe that's where it comes from 😂 I'll be sure to say Ber-LIN Wall from now on 👍 thanks for watching!
Sorry, but this was a very uninspiring video. Some small facts were wrong, but worse is that you were suggesting all the crappy tourist sites. You did not visit any interesting neighborhoods, and learned nothing about the people who live in Berlin. I would suggest you take an alternative tour the next time you are in Berlin. You can see the authentic Berlin, and not where to get currywurst at Checkpoint Charlie.
Sorry to hear you feel that way! We had a fantastic time putting this video together and we really enjoyed Berlin! We appreciate you watching anyway 😊 we definitely hope to visit again and see more!
This isn't a comprehensive "let me tell you all about the whole of Berlin" video. That would take an entire series of videos. For perhaps first time visitors, it is very good. If one had been to Berlin before and had been to these sites, then a person would search for youtube videos with that criteria.

Of course! Thank you for watching, so happy you enjoyed it 😊
The Berlin television tower was not built by the Soviets. It was built by the GDR.
It was planned by East German architects (Günter Franke, Fritz Dieter, Gerhard Kosel) and built by East German workers.
Loved Berlin,stunning❤

So glad you enjoyed the video 😃
smart video, and yes I've been to Berlin 5 times ... I ❤ Berlin

Greetings: I am thinking about a solo trip to Berlin for the month of September 2024. Thanks for this video.
Thanks for watching and enjoy your trip to Berlin! That’s a lot of time to explore the city, sounds amazing!
One thing….
As a West Berliner, the Ampelmann is still an East Berlin thing. It’s not on the traffic lights in the “west”.
But love your take on my Hometown 👍🏻
Thanks for much for watching! We really enjoyed our visit and learned so much!
Thank you for the compliment, we are so happy that you enjoyed the video! We hope you enjoy your move to Berlin, it must be an awesome place to live!
Great video ❤
So happy to hear that you enjoyed it! Thanks for checking out our channel!
Never forget !

NIcely done!
Good video!
Thank you! We appreciate you watching! 👍
going in September 2023 to run BMW Berlin Marathon!
Wow, best of luck! What an incredible experience!
What a fascinating city, not many cities went through what they went through
I want to go back. Visited when I was a teen and the city was still divided!
For everyone watching it in March 2023. DDR Museum is closed until 31.03.2023
Oh no! Hoping they re-open in April. It’s a very interesting museum!
@@MaxandSidney I imagine! Was a bit surprised when I arrived there yesterday 😅
Good on Germans for owning up to the atrocities they did in the past and building memorials in the center of the city. Americans, Chinese, Japanese, Turks and many other nations should do the same.
what camera do you use?
Sony a7iii 😊
The "kiss" does not depict two east german politicians. It is Bezniev General.Secretary of the USSR kissingEric Honecker Gen. Sec of DDR
There is another error: The Berlin television tower was not built by the Soviets.
It was planned by East German architects (Günter Franke, Fritz Dieter, Gerhard Kosel) and built by East German workers.
It was not two East German politicians… one of them was Leonid Breshnev!
I live in Berlin
It must be so fun to actually live there!
Du arme Sau😁😁😁😁😁
Visiting Berlin in May 2025!
So exciting!!!
overall good -- but contains some factual errors -- the Fernsehturm was built by the GDR, not "the Soviets" -- the person who kisses GDR party and state leader Erich Honecker is not "another East German politician" but Soviet leader Leonid I.
Thanks for the info! It is a very dense and intimidating history. So much to learn. We’ll definitely look into that book! Thanks for watching 😁
with love, gal amar from israel
Thanks for watching! 😊
Many, many +++ Mistakes in the whole walk through Berlin. It's not only the Mistakes its
wrong what you talk. I'm a City Guide in Berlin Capital of the GDR from 1986 until 1989 and from 1992 until today for whole Berlin....
Wolfgang Berlinü
Would love to go on a tour with you, Wolfgang! Absolutely loved our time in Berlin, would be happy to come back and see more 😊
Why is it, that you travel to Ber-LIN, to see the BER-lin wall? Would somone make up their mind as to how to pronounce the city?
The proper way would be Ber-LIN - so where's that BER-lin atrocity coming from???
Hahaha, never noticed that before! There is a town called New BER-lin in my home state, maybe that's where it comes from 😂 I'll be sure to say Ber-LIN Wall from now on 👍 thanks for watching!

Berlin looks sooo depressing
Sometimes tourists, especially 1st time visitors, want to do all the major touristy spots in the city.
This isn't a comprehensive "let me tell you all about the whole of Berlin" video. That would take an entire series of videos. For perhaps first time visitors, it is very good. If one had been to Berlin before and had been to these sites, then a person would search for youtube videos with that criteria.
Hi watching from Philippines
Thanks for checking out our channel! Excited to visit the Philippines someday! 😃🇵🇭
