Don’t know why I watched this, because I live in Berlin for twenty years now and I am German. The RUclips way I guess. But for those who come to visit this city, this video is really useful, correct and on point. Really love to see someone who puts that much effort in this and thereby helps people! Greetings from Berlin!
Hey! Thanks for much for the nice comment. The quality could have indeed been much better, as it was my very first video. But hearing comments like this is inspiring. Have a lovely day :)
@Schulte Maier ach, verstehst du ja doch nicht.
Alles gut. Es ist ein englischer YT Kanal ;)
@@ExpatCaptures ja, ich spreche leider nicht Troll. Danke für die nette Antwort von vor sieben Monaten, hab sie eben erst gesehen. Wunderschönen Tag noch!
Helge I'm coming to Berlin in two weeks can you tell me do i need to wear a face mask on Berlin trains , underground etc and what type of mask ? 👍
Been looking around for public transit explanations about Berlin for a while and this is the best one I've seen, thank you.
Great, great video. You are very good at describing in details. Berlin is in my list to travel after covid. I know that I will definitely watch this video many times before traveling. Thank you very much keep up the good work
Best video I've watched so far. Thank you!
This was the first Berlin transit video I watched, and I can't imagine how it could be any better! Thanks for saving me a lot of research!
Sehr gut. Danke Ron. Well done, it's been a while since I caught the public transport system in Berlin. Definitely things have changed. All the best with your channel. Subbed 👍
Thanks Mark! The city changes every day! :)
I am completely new to the city and this video has me helped greatly! Thank you for elaborating on the tickets and where to obtain them. You got my subscription! 😎🤘🏻
Your video helped me a lot when I was in Berlin last year. I was researching on public transport in every European country that I was planning on visiting, and your video explaining Berlin public transport was exactly what I wanted. I would be lost for sure if I didn't watch your video. Thank you so much
I'm glad it was helpful Meg!
Excellent information and entertaining as well! Thank you.
Thank you so much, really informative and straightforward description. I'll be in Berlin in December for the first time and I'm sure your video will prove extremely helpful.
Going to Berlin in 3 weeks for the first time and found this so useful. Thank you
Glad to hear this! Have fun in Berlin!!!
This was so informative. Thanks❤
This video is the most organized and informative one. I'm traveling Berlin for the first time, and I'm pretty confident in using public transport there now. Thank you for making such amazing video. Keep up the good work. 👍
Thank you Asif I really appreciate that. Enjoy your trip :)
What a great video! I'm visiting next Friday for the first time and this has made the trip seem a little less daunting :)
Great video. The humor was much appreciated.
🤓❤️
I'm studying abroad in Berlin and this video is super helpful! Danke!
kein Problem!
Love your sense of humour.
Urgh I don't. 🤓
Thank you. This was helpful. One note I would like to add for tourists is, if you have a validated German rail card, Interrail or Eurail train pass for the duration of your visit to Berlin, the S-Bahn, RE, RB, ICE, EC and EC trains are all covered by the passes. The U-bahn trains, buses, trams and ferries are NOT covered by rail passes. In fact the train rule applies to all of German cities with S-Bahn services.
I'm going to Berlin next year and this video is everything I've been looking for, I feel so much more comfortable now, knowing ll this, thank you so much
You're welcome Natt! Thank you
Yes. I will coming soon within few months. Very very helpful. Thank u 👍
I'm in Berlin now and this was priceless as I don't speak German and this is my first visit, thank you and great job. if I could give you a Million Thumbs up I would.

Yessss! Tourists can also buy it for saving🥺 and I also know a cheaper channel😎
Thank you for the video, Ron!
✌️
So well done! Thanks for the thorough and clear information. And your dry sense of humor was a plus. :)
My pleasure :)
I am a German myself and live in Berlin. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed watching this video because I'm a public transport fan. The video was very well done and the information was correct. I think this video is a great help for Berlin tourists. This video is very nice.
Greetings from Berlin
Thanks Leo! Appreciate this.
Nothing like getting lectured by a forеigner, on how to libe your life. Being western must be fun.
Man berlin transport system is amazing thats what i enjoyed the most about my holiday.
Thank you so much for sharing this video, my husband and I are going to visit Berlin in a few days and this is so helpful! Thanks tons!
Enjoy your time here!
I've been in Berlin three times and I agree, it is a wonderful city. The public transportation system is so easy to use and you can go almost anywhere on it. Thanks for the video.
I love and hate Berlin. I was fascinated by the stunning scenery and rich history, but I was overwhelmed by the high cost. I think trainpal's discount coupon saved me.
Very useful! Thanks!
Moving to Berlin next week and this video was exactly what I was looking for esp the bits about the buses! Danke!
You're most welcome Alana! I'm sure you'll love Berlin. Feel free to tune in for more Berlin and Germany content coming up ❤️🥰
Yes, train is convenient in trip☺️ Hope the rail tickets bought in a cheap price can use🥺
Very interesting video! Just moved to Berlin a month ago so I already knew many of the things that you covered. However I wasn't aware that I should show my ticket to the bus driver since at least from my experience nobody does that with double-deckers. Also as a student I thankfully get to travel for free as long as I have my student card with me. Anyway good job and keep the work up!
Thanks so much. Yes nobody really does it, and covid has made it slightly worse because I think sometimes the driver's entrance is even blocked by a soft plastic divider when covid cases are higher. These days are crazy!
Great video. Very useful. Thank you so much!
You're welcome!!
I recently came back from Berlin and your vid made me go in search of the ferry. I rode it and it was indeed peaceful. Serenity❤
Love it ❤️
Very well-made, very useful and even gave me a laugh or two. Thank you very much for the video
Thank you and you're welcome!
Good video mate. We will be visiting Berlin from sunny Queensland in three months time. Cheers.

Great video, explain everything really clearly. I love it, also your sense of humour. Ps do you have also a guide how to use P+R? To visit the centre? Thank you❤
We are headed to Berlin in a week. This was very helpful and will reduce my anxiety a ton knowing what to expect.
Have fun here!!! Glad it helped!
What was Brandenburg airport like ?I hear it's a nightmare and the security are horrible
Brilliant! Thanks.

danke für die Informationen! It will help during the visit in Berlin
Kein Problem!!
Excellent. Thank you
You're welcome!
Great, super informative. Appreciate your dry humour 😅
Appreciate it!
Good explanation of using the tickets. I recommend tourist which arrive from BER and stay for couples of days AB ticket wih an extention fare. I've been working in customer service for the Berliner S Bahn since January 2024.
can I ask you a question? From BER to city center, will use S bahn twice in the city. what ticket you reccommend?
@@user-so2ng2fb9l It depends what you would like to do in Berlin If you need only a ticket from the airport to the city centre than a ABC single ticket is ok. So I don't know your plans.
Thanks really helpful
Wonderful information...so my next visit is Berlin. Hoping
Let's see!
Excellent video 10/10
Thank youuuuuu I appreciate this!!
That was great thankyou
thank you for being funny and informative as well, you random berlin resident..🤝😅
Berlin is amazing! i wanna go back :D was there 2 weeks ago
Thnxxx , well-explained.
❤️
Thank you so much 😊
Pleasure!
Really informational video, can you please make more such videos
I will try! Thank you Harshangi!
Thank you for showing us what the ticket validation machines look like both for DB and for BVG...respectively red/white and yellow. I have searched other transportation videos trying to find these Entwertsmachinen only to find no description or photos of what to look for on the platforms.
Really helpful
Danke!
I didn't know that watching a video about how the public transport works could be so entertaining and hilarious!
Oh bless youuuu! I take that as a compliment! 😂🥰
@@ExpatCaptures totally! I was just planning my trip to Berlin but you earned a new subscriber!

@@ExpatCaptures I hope sooo!! Watching some “best places to visit in Berlin” vids at the minute and came across this! The most important thing - transpo!! Thanks a mil!! 😁✨☺️

how was it?
I agree take a trip to Berlin there is plenty to see.
thank you ❤
🥰
Thank you for this video. It was very informative and clear. If a person is moving to Berlin, do you recommend buying the annual ticket/VBB Eco-Ticket?
Thanks Tim! I don't think there's a difference if you're moving here. For the Eco monthly tickets you can also pay yearly, so it's just a matter of personal preference really.
Hey! Congrats for the great video! In case of the 7 days ticket (weekly), when and how should validate it? And once it is validated, should I validate it again every time I take a bus? Thank you!
Hi Mariano, thanks for watching. Once you validate the ticket, you don't need to validate it again. The ticket will be valid for 7 consecutive days from validation and not 7 individual days.
Best vedio 👍👍👍
❤️🤟
thanks for this video! I'm not planning on going to Berlin specifically but this is definitely helpful. is the bus system through the rest of Germany similar to the one in Berlin?
Yes it is! The signs to the U-Bahn, S-Bahn, bus stop symbols and whatnot are all the same in Germany. The only thing that's different would be the public transport companies and potentially the prices. Each city has a local company for that.
@@ExpatCaptures And also sometimes you don´t stamp/validate your ticket because it is valid from the moment you purchase it from the machine in some other regional transport systems.
You didn't mention the cheaper short distance ticket (at 3:44, in the right column). I think they are good for up to three stops away.
Such a great video brother. I do have one question though. Aren't there any monthly cards for unlimited travel or something like that?
Thank you so much!
Yes there is, but I didn't cover it because tourists rarely stay in just one city for an entire month, so it's usually just for locals.
You can get those tickets at the machines too, and if you live here, you can get a yearly contract for even cheaper than those machine monthly ticket prices!
Except using subway I love your English.
Thank you for this video, it was very helpful, and it even made me chuckle a few times. I do have a question - BVG offers an extension card for zone C for a 24h ticket, that's 3,70 euro, but can I get a normal extension card that's 1,80 euro if i only need one trip (airport) with my 24 h ticket in AB zone?
Thank you! And yes correct, if you plan to only travel within zone AB+C one time and then only travel within A and B afterwards, then there's no need for you to get a 24-hour Zone C extension ticket. If you plan to travel frequently to and from Zone C within 24 hours, only then does it make sense to get the 24 hour one. Hope that helps :)
Hi. Great video and very informative. I have a question about the berlin welcome card, do I validate only the first time I start using the public transport or do I have to validate it every time I use a bus or a train? Also, do you recommend buying the berlin welcome card online or when I get to Berlin? Thanks in advance.
Hi there Constantina! Thanks for stopping by! If you prefer to buy it online and the website has all the information you need, then by all means do that. If you prefer to speak to a person, then simply go to one of the bigger stations in Berlin (like Hauptbahnhof, Alexanderplatz, Ostkreuz) and ask the office desk about the card. They'll help you just fine. You shouldn't have to validate it every time, but just ask the people to make sure. I've personally never actually bought one before as I've been a local resident anyway.
This has been very helpful. thank you. I went to berlin last year and had so much anxiety using public transportation. I'm pretty sure I forgot to validate. This time I think I know what to do. We are going to try to go to Potsdam from the city center. Any tips on the best way to do that using public transport? Is there a special ticket that will get us there and back in one day? keeping in mind we will be in Berlin using public transport for about 5 days total.
Hi! Potsdam should be in Zone C, so any ticket type that covers should be fine. Have fun!
@@ExpatCaptures thank you!!
Great video, thank you, only thing I’m not 100% sure of is if you have to validate your 24 hour ticket every journey or just prior to the first one? Maybe you could clarify, cheers
No problem! Just the first one. It's a 24 hour ticket, so when you validate it, it will be valid for 24 hours. Validation doesn't really have to do with hopping on and off transport. Instead, it's to show when exactly a particular ticket type/duration takes effect.
nice wrap up man (Y)
I tried :)
Thank you for the video and keep it going!!. I have a question. I will be arriving at the Willy Brandt from Singapore at 7.40am. I have a flight out to Amsterdam early next day. Since the hotel check in opposite the airport is only much later in the afternoon, i was thinking of going for a train ride and walk a little. This is my first overseas trip anyway. I am open for suggestions as long as i am back at the airport hotel by 4pm. Is there a scenic route train ride? I am a little confused about the AB C zone you had mentioned in your video. Since the airport is in Zone C, i am pretty sure that i will need to get the Zone C when i am returning to the airport. But do i need to get the Zone C when i am departing the airport? Thank you for your advice and sorry for my lengthy post.
Yes you need to get a zone C departing and arriving. The train is not really scenic, but that should be ok because Berlin is great!
Thanks for the video! For some reason I had a lot of trouble on the S bahn. Those route placards seem to be hit or miss, and had a lot of trouble figuring out where it was actually going….even with Google maps (which ceases to work underground). Rode 3 wrong trains (apparently).
Yeh if it's not the Ring Bahn, then just look at the end station and see if the end station is reflected on Google Maps.
Very good. I happen to be in Berlin on holiday right now so very useful info. The whole ticket validation thing is quite confusing. Still don’t really get it?!
Easiest is if you just download one of the mobile apps. If you buy tickets there, no need for validation!
This was really helpful! Headed to Berlin soon and this definitely helped with navigation anxiety. Is there another way to get to AB without having to use IC from the airport? I'm mapping my route from the airport and it keeps saying I should us IC to transfer to S-Bahn. Any insight is much appreciated!
My pleasure! If the train number on Google Maps starts with RE or RB, you can use a normal ticket for them. You can also take the S-Bahn to get to AB or the city centre.
Thanks
👍
Thanks for the video! How do I validate my ticket if I buy from the app?
Thx for all the tips!!
I'm wondering if the 49-euro nation wide public tix applies to the metro/subways/bus in Berlin also?
It's a nationwide ticket, right? So yes, of course it will apply to Berlin. 👍
@@ExpatCaptures it's a tix where u can take all regional trains and public transport (so I heard and bought ;) (and also just arrived in Germany ready to explore :))
4:35 "What can you ride in Berlin. . . Assuming we are still talking about public transport." lmao
Thanks for the video. I have 2 qestions: How does one validate a ticket bought on the App. And, once one buys a ticket (say for zones AB) how many rides/days is it valid for? Many thanks
The ticket is validated in the app as soon as you buy it. Regarding your second question, it depends on the type of it ticket you bought. If you bought a daily ticket, then a day. A monthly ticket = a month. If you're talking about a single one-way ticket, then it should last 2 hours including any necessary transfers.
Travelling to Berlin in a couple of weeks for the first time arrival at Brandenburg Airport and staying in the Mitte area what ticket would I neec, is a A&B + extension and are they bought at the same time and both tickets need to be validated?
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi there, thanks fir the video. Can you please advice if i am to hold a one day or 7 days ticket, do i validate everytime i get onto the train/tram OR just validate one time at the start of the first journey? Thanks.
Just once!
Thanks brrrroooo!
👍
With the welcome ticket and other multi day tickets you only validate them once, correct?
