  • The Berlin WelcomeCard sounds like a good offer: it includes local public transport and free or discounted admission to many tourist attractions in the German capital. But is it worth the price? DW's Lukas Stege checks it out for us and puts the 48 hours premium version for 89 Euros to the test. He takes a city tour, visits the TV Tower, Museum Island, Madame Tussauds and more. Is the Berlin WelcomeCard good value for money?

    Additional tip! Most major museums in Berlin have free admission for everyone on the first Sunday of each month! Also, everyone has free admission to the TV Tower on their birthday.

      There’s unfortunately no such thing as free admission to TV tower or not anymore! Yesterday was my friend’s BD and we asked and got no BD deal only a free sticker 😂

    The idea of the welcome card is, you visit 15 attractions with 25% discount, instead of 10 attractions for the full price.
    In the end you spend the same amount of money, and you really must be a Museum lover and AVOID any free attraction, to have a pay off.
    And we have to remember the germanwide all-inclusive-transport ticket is 49€ for a month. Now compare to 25€ for 48hours for Berlin.

      The 49 euro card can only be purchased beginning at the start of a month, and can't be purchased during the month of validity. I wanted to buy two for my parents and discovered the hard way I was too late (3 weeks before their arrival)

      It depends on your plans. There are quite a number of attractions that are free to visit: Reichstag Dome (albeit registration is necessary), Berlin Wall Memorial, Eastside Gallery, Brandenburg Gate, Holocaust Memorial, Topography of Terror, Palace of Tears, and more.
      As the city is indeed big some route planning makes sense. Don't underestimate the distances in Berlin.

    Hi! Can I know how you navigated public transport and attractions with the printed voucher / card? How did you get on the train or even pass the train gantry - did you have to show the printed paper to the train staff, or scan the QR code somewhere?

      No, just jump in :-)! You have to show it when someone comes to control tickets.

      @@constantinaadamou5602 Depends how you buy it. If you entered a date when bying it, and the date is printed on the ticket you are OK. Some hotels or so have blank tickets and you might put in date of use with a pen.

    Curious as to how to you waltzed into museums and the tv tower lift without any queue whatsoever. Last time I was there, the queues for everything were very lengthy, particularly the lift for the tv tower and that was in February, so it wasn't even peak season. We had to cram into the tv tower lift with a big group of others to get to the top. Not recommended for claustrophobic people!

      All Public Transport is Free ( besides the ICE and EuroCity Trains ). In Berlin for instance all U,- and S- Bahn Lines, all BVG Buses , all Tram - Lines and also all BVG Ferry Lines. Oh and all Regio Trains aswell. Have nice time.

    • @holger_p
      @holger_p Год назад

      Yes, and you never have to anyway. For the transport only, the 24h ticket is 9,50€ in Berlin and the welcome card for 48h is more expensive. And you really need to see a lot a lot of museums, to still have a payoff from the 25€ investment.

  • @zahrabl6470
    @zahrabl6470 8 месяцев назад

    In how many days did you film these seven visits ? There’s so little one can manage to do in one day ! The all inclusive is too expensive and the 25 euro one doesn’t get you anything other than the public transportation which instead you can get 24h tickets for 9.50 😅

    Check Point Charlie is a "border" crossing in English, not "boarder". A "boarder" is someone who rents a room...

    • @DWTravel
      @DWTravel  4 месяца назад +1

      It's better to book a ticket online in advance. Otherwise it can happen that you'll have to wait in line.

      @DWTravel TY for that and for taking the time to reply! However I was trying to book online but I don't see the option for the welcome card all inclusive, I mean there's one option for the regular BWC but not the all inclusive one.

    It is really NOT worth the price (and hassle) in my opinion.
    I got the 6 day pass, and still ended paying for a ton of places. Mind you this 170€.
    In Amsterdam it's cheaper and it is really all inclusive, public transport included.
    In Paris it's cheaper as well but no public transport, also most access.
    Now the big issue their is no app, the website is not really great, a lot of places you cannot reserve a ticket but have to wait in line, which totally defeats the purpose.
    The people that are behind this card should take a trip to Paris and Amsterdam.
