i own the freeze wicked version and just to clarify , it stays cool for about 7-10 mins , after that it absorbs the heat from your head/ears and it will be just like any other earpads ( they are very confy though) don't know why Techne never mentions this on his videos but i wanted to say this for future buyers.

Bought the Nova Pro headset and had it for about 2 days. Hated them. Ended up returning them and buying the beyerdynamic dt990 pro, schiit Magni 3+ and Modi 3E, and a hyperX quadcast. Granted I spent much more going this route but I am very satisfied. That said I CAN NOT WAIT for Wicked to release their gel cushions for the dt990 pro.

The Sound change is very under emphasized here. its not minute at all. With the freeze The sounds gets way worse. Yes you can tune the eq. But there is no possible way with all the tuning to make them sound as the stock ones. Are they Comfortable? Yes. But they definetely sound worse. I'd recommend the Pleather WC. Still worse sound but not as much as the Freeze ones. I can also recommend Gadgetry Tech's video on this.

my wicked cusions (got both kinds) came 2 days ago and my headset (nova pro wireless) came yesterday. I must be one of the lucky ones cuz i had it on for 8 hours and was never bothered by the anc nub with the regular cushions. I know you like to use the doc over the sonar software, but I personally love the sonar software! Its got that spatial audio adjuster. Soon I'm gonna experiment with the cushions and the spatial audio to see what that does. Also, I really love your videos! Glad i stumbled upon your page when i was researching for a new headset. Keep up the great work!
I feel like the ideal option would be the higher density foam, but no additional thickness. The WC pads just make the headset look a little ridiculous, It's SO thick as to be silly. But if the pads didn't compress as much, that might still relive the ANC bump issue. Also, why doesn't WC make a version with the cloth on the inside too? I don't love the feel of pleather on my ears, so having it all cloth where it can touch the skin would be awesome, with the pleather only on the outside to help with noise isolation. Though honestly, I'm pretty partial to the fully cloth earpads that Logitech makes... I'm just not sure how much those would spoil the ANC.
Love the nova pro but the hurting on my ears was making me want to not use them. Been using the freeze cushions for about a week now and have fallen in love with my headset again. Highly recommend.

I own the steelseries arctis 7P. Also have the original arctis Pro wired with Game Dac. And have myself a beautiful pair of the steelseries arctis Nova Pro wired with Game Dac. Techne, you sold me on the wicked cushions, about three years ago. And have them on every steelseries headset that I have. The new additions for the artist Nova Pro wired with Game Dac. First thing I noticed. Was how cool they were. Meaning temperature and how it looks. First impressions wearing them. Sound-wise, was how prominent the sound was. First thing that came to me was how the bass was deeper, cleaner and the soundstage just stuck out much more than the default pads. I tried many third-party ear cushions. They don't come close to wicked cushions. These also are the coolest/temperature ear cushions I've ever owned. The liquid cooling gel definitely are one of the best features on these ear cushions.
I bought them, the freeze one, and I absolutely love them. I rediscovered my headset. the stock one are really annoying. It was a good headset. It became a GREAT headset.

From personal use the freeze are cool when first using them then they obviously absorb body temp. They're way less "spicy" compared to the stock pads over long sessions and I hardly find myself adjusting or repositioning like the stock pads. If you have this headset these cushions are a must.
Been using thr wireless pros for about 4 years and just picked up the nova wireless yesterday. Was on the fence about getting the freeze or just the regular upgrades (due to some reviews saying the freeze impacts sound way more). But pulling the trigger on the freeze for the added comfort and after seeing you saying it hardly impacts the audio quality. Of course some EQ adjustments might have to be made but excited to pair the two together.
man idk, a pair of wicked cushions is 32$ without a promo code and i can get a really great pair for 8$ of same quality from aliexpress for pretty much most headset models there are. im sure they are great, but are they 32$ *for ear cushions* great? also for me personally too thick earpads 100% affect the volume and 7.1 surround imaging which is also a big no for me.

I just got the ANPW and the nub is pretty bad. I'm willing to pay a few bucks for wicked cushions. What I want to know is why everyone loves these ski bands. I vowed to never buy one again but of course the ANPW got a hold of me. They simply slide forward on my weird head and it's so annoying. They should have rubberized the band or something.
I’m sorry Techne, but the FreeZe gel pads change the sound more than just mildly. GadgetryTech even showed that the frequency response is completely different when using those pads, so the way you go about EQ’ing is much different from EQ with stock pads. Don’t get me wrong they’re insanely comfortable, but even after EQ they just don’t sound anywhere near as good as with the all pleather ones (I own a pair of both) from Wicked Cushions or the stock ones. The WC all pleather sound very close to if not slightly better than the stock pads in my usage so far
no way man, I test many many headsets and high end headphones, the amount they change is so dang mild. So mild! And all gaming headsets have eq software just about, and we all mess with it, so it one here and one there, no issue at all.
@@TheTechne idk then, must just be my ears but all of my EQs I used to use with the stock pads sounded so vastly different I was shocked man. But with the all pleather upgraded pads, my old EQs sounded mostly the same and I only needed to slightly adjust

Hey I got a way to make it 100x better but to sound quality only, get a wire for the headset LOL. RF/IR(or both)/BT still limited bandwidth with the latest tech and games have begun to use higher quality audio, long gone explosion.mp3 . btw ANC is just a cheap way to jack up the price like crazy for a headphone/headset while not making it sound better. Good closed backs can isolate a lot of noise, if it leaks it stinks. Understand not all features included is beneficial for the user, its just to jack up the profit margins
I cant stress enough how important to replace orijinal pads with these. Orijinal ones have faux leather which makes your ears wet and they re so uncomfortable you cant wear them more than a hour. And because of their thickness, your ears always get crushed under the ANC device. Wicked ones not only more comfortable because of their cloth texture, but also they re more thick which block ANC to touch your ear. A must buy.
I own the freeze in camo red. It Looks pretty nice and cool! And for my head, the headset feels better without pressure. With the Originals i had a little bit of pressure. I love the cussions!

Exaggeration. My Astro a50 has never been hot in my ears. Never felt it needed any upgrade. Always comfortable for several hours. I’m actually thinking returning these and keep my old astro 3rd generation. Not to mention it had optical to connect to my tv.
Is it possible to make noise canceling ear pads. I bought this because of the noise canceling but my arctis pro was better than the arctis nova pro. I hate the input from the mice. turned off sidetone and turned on automatic noise canceling.
I just got my wc freeze - Speed racer and may I say: definitely an upgrade. I have to admit, I got the Steelseries Nova Pro wireless X after watching hours of headset reviews. Seeing as how I wanted 1 wireless headset for both my ps5, Xbox series X and PC. And finally made up my mind much thanks to your reviews. But I knew the anc nub would bother my big ears. And voila, enter the solution: these cushions pretty much eliminate the issue and af actually far more comfortable. The only notes I have are: Pressure towards the top, because they're much thicker it seems there's not enough space but it's doable. Definitely better than the anc nub! Installation is a bit tricky so be careful not to damage your headset or the cushions.
Note: about the top pressure, it's actually comfortable, I've used them for hours straight. But when I put them on it just feels as if the bottom part is disconnecting/separating from my head slightly.
My main issue with the Nova Pro is they're too small, I don't have a big head but it feels like the bottom of the ear cups are angling out because the headset is too tight. I can't see to get it to sit properly where the earpads just flush against my head. I've changed to the new earpads as well, which helped, but didn't fix
Hey Techne, I just got wicked cushions for my Virtuoso XT and wanted to know if you changed your EQ after installing them. It def made audio louder to a fault, maybe im missing a setting but voice chat in fortnite was insanely loud lol. Otherwise the cushions are great.

I just covered them actually. But SS is known for a bit less clamping force. A tip (be carful) twist them in ward and they will tighten up a pinch. Maybe I'll make a video on this ;)

Wicked Cushions isn't going to fix the Arctis Nova Pro. Go for the Arctis Pro Wireless. It has multiple inputs and works. The Arctis Nova Pro is extremily low quality. Just plug in both USB inputs and then try to charge a battery. It shutts off. You might think I just had bad luck and got a defective unit. I got a replacement unit and it does the same thing. Effectively, the Arctis Nova Pro has only one USB input since you can't use both at the same time. On top of that, it has all kinds of reliability problems mostly stemming from cheap design to the point of not even having a power input that it DESPERATELY needs to be able to function in any sense. My suggestion? If you want to improve your Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, throw it away and get a Arctis Pro Wireless. A MUCH better headset.
I’m about to get those Nova Pro wired + freeze wicked version after looking carefully on what to buy. I had the Pro version back in the days, switched for Corsair RGB or wtv it’s called, dumbest thing Ive ever done, those things were so annoying on comfort, sounds was fine Ig tho. Pretty excited to go back with steelseries, I loved em, taking stinky cozy pads in case I feel that noise cancellation
The wired pros actually don't have an anc knob but I still think these cushions are a huge upgrade over the stock ones. Especially the freeze cushions...so freaking comfortable! I wear my headset practically all day and these made a huge difference
I don't use headphones for hours, especially since the gel lasts literally 10 minutes. Will the regular version of Wicked Caushions without the cooling gel be enough for me to fully solve the problem of the protruding part?. Is only the version with the walking gel thick enough so that there is no problem with the protruding part?.Because in the material it says that those without gel are only a little thicker than factory ones and only those with gel need more strength to arrange on the head.

Everything I’m reading says you need to be connected to the software but with the game deck you can connect dwyer both to the Xbox and your PC so can you use that feature on Xbox or literally only on PC? I just bought one on Amazon for a little over $200 brand new. I thought that was low but it seemed completely legitimate. It came fully factory sealed with a card that says "First Edition" and "For Glory". The very thing I wanted it for is not present, no removable battery or extra battery in the console. Un-real. Amazon is now China just like Walmart I'm gonna have to stop spending any money at Amazon.
I’m coming from a Razer kraken headset and when I use the artist nova sevens they were a little bit tight behind my ear because of my glasses do the wicked cushions change that? Or work would the tightness go away after I break them in? I just found that the Razer kraken’s were a lot more comfortable in my opinion but if I just need to break them in that I’m willing to keep using the nova sevens.

my wicked cusions (got both kinds) came 2 days ago and my headset (nova pro wireless) came yesterday. I must be one of the lucky ones cuz i had it on for 8 hours and was never bothered by the anc nub with the regular cushions. I know you like to use the doc over the sonar software, but I personally love the sonar software! Its got that spatial audio adjuster. Soon I'm gonna experiment with the cushions and the spatial audio to see what that does. Also, I really love your videos! Glad i stumbled upon your page when i was researching for a new headset. Keep up the great work!

I feel like the ideal option would be the higher density foam, but no additional thickness. The WC pads just make the headset look a little ridiculous, It's SO thick as to be silly. But if the pads didn't compress as much, that might still relive the ANC bump issue. Also, why doesn't WC make a version with the cloth on the inside too? I don't love the feel of pleather on my ears, so having it all cloth where it can touch the skin would be awesome, with the pleather only on the outside to help with noise isolation. Though honestly, I'm pretty partial to the fully cloth earpads that Logitech makes... I'm just not sure how much those would spoil the ANC.

Love the nova pro but the hurting on my ears was making me want to not use them. Been using the freeze cushions for about a week now and have fallen in love with my headset again. Highly recommend.

I own the steelseries arctis 7P. Also have the original arctis Pro wired with Game Dac. And have myself a beautiful pair of the steelseries arctis Nova Pro wired with Game Dac. Techne, you sold me on the wicked cushions, about three years ago. And have them on every steelseries headset that I have. The new additions for the artist Nova Pro wired with Game Dac.
First thing I noticed. Was how cool they were. Meaning temperature and how it looks. First impressions wearing them. Sound-wise, was how prominent the sound was. First thing that came to me was how the bass was deeper, cleaner and the soundstage just stuck out much more than the default pads. I tried many third-party ear cushions. They don't come close to wicked cushions. These also are the coolest/temperature ear cushions I've ever owned. The liquid cooling gel definitely are one of the best features on these ear cushions.
I bought them, the freeze one, and I absolutely love them. I rediscovered my headset. the stock one are really annoying. It was a good headset. It became a GREAT headset.

I bought the novas second hand from amazon spain, the cost me 205€ vs the 379€ the cost normally, I waited impatiently for them to arrive only to pop the box open and find out that they sent them without any cushions. Luckily, I was following your coverage on them and pulled the trigger on using the WC on your recommendation. They cost me 43€ with your code and today the shipped, hopefully they don't take too long to arrive. The stock cushions from the official website cost 14,99€+ 14,99 delivery.

@Reza Lust Ya I think so, they said nothing about customs on the order page, I ordered last year a case from dbrand and I didn't have to pay anything for customs, but when my brother in law sent a package for my kids I had to pay 60€ for customs. Personal vs. business I guess.

Got mines few day ago and didn’t notice any change on audio but did fix the NC thing on the middle of the headset
From personal use the freeze are cool when first using them then they obviously absorb body temp. They're way less "spicy" compared to the stock pads over long sessions and I hardly find myself adjusting or repositioning like the stock pads. If you have this headset these cushions are a must.
Been using thr wireless pros for about 4 years and just picked up the nova wireless yesterday. Was on the fence about getting the freeze or just the regular upgrades (due to some reviews saying the freeze impacts sound way more). But pulling the trigger on the freeze for the added comfort and after seeing you saying it hardly impacts the audio quality. Of course some EQ adjustments might have to be made but excited to pair the two together.

man idk, a pair of wicked cushions is 32$ without a promo code and i can get a really great pair for 8$ of same quality from aliexpress for pretty much most headset models there are. im sure they are great, but are they 32$ *for ear cushions* great? also for me personally too thick earpads 100% affect the volume and 7.1 surround imaging which is also a big no for me.

I just got the ANPW and the nub is pretty bad. I'm willing to pay a few bucks for wicked cushions. What I want to know is why everyone loves these ski bands. I vowed to never buy one again but of course the ANPW got a hold of me. They simply slide forward on my weird head and it's so annoying. They should have rubberized the band or something.
I’m sorry Techne, but the FreeZe gel pads change the sound more than just mildly. GadgetryTech even showed that the frequency response is completely different when using those pads, so the way you go about EQ’ing is much different from EQ with stock pads.
Don’t get me wrong they’re insanely comfortable, but even after EQ they just don’t sound anywhere near as good as with the all pleather ones (I own a pair of both) from Wicked Cushions or the stock ones. The WC all pleather sound very close to if not slightly better than the stock pads in my usage so far
I'd take the way more comfy pads over the stock pads with a little better sound any day of the week. Pleather pads suck.
no way man, I test many many headsets and high end headphones, the amount they change is so dang mild. So mild! And all gaming headsets have eq software just about, and we all mess with it, so it one here and one there, no issue at all.
@@TheTechne idk then, must just be my ears but all of my EQs I used to use with the stock pads sounded so vastly different I was shocked man. But with the all pleather upgraded pads, my old EQs sounded mostly the same and I only needed to slightly adjust

Hey I got a way to make it 100x better but to sound quality only, get a wire for the headset LOL. RF/IR(or both)/BT still limited bandwidth with the latest tech and games have begun to use higher quality audio, long gone explosion.mp3 . btw ANC is just a cheap way to jack up the price like crazy for a headphone/headset while not making it sound better. Good closed backs can isolate a lot of noise, if it leaks it stinks. Understand not all features included is beneficial for the user, its just to jack up the profit margins
Does it matter what side you put the ear pads on and is there a top or bottom to the pads?
I cant stress enough how important to replace orijinal pads with these. Orijinal ones have faux leather which makes your ears wet and they re so uncomfortable you cant wear them more than a hour. And because of their thickness, your ears always get crushed under the ANC device. Wicked ones not only more comfortable because of their cloth texture, but also they re more thick which block ANC to touch your ear. A must buy.
Does it still keep the passive noise isolation good?

I own the freeze in camo red. It Looks pretty nice and cool! And for my head, the headset feels better without pressure. With the Originals i had a little bit of pressure. I love the cussions!

Exaggeration. My Astro a50 has never been hot in my ears. Never felt it needed any upgrade. Always comfortable for several hours.

Is it possible to make noise canceling ear pads. I bought this because of the noise canceling but my arctis pro was better than the arctis nova pro. I hate the input from the mice. turned off sidetone and turned on automatic noise canceling.

I have to admit, I got the Steelseries Nova Pro wireless X after watching hours of headset reviews.
Seeing as how I wanted 1 wireless headset for both my ps5, Xbox series X and PC.
And finally made up my mind much thanks to your reviews. But I knew the anc nub would bother my big ears.
And voila, enter the solution: these cushions pretty much eliminate the issue and af actually far more comfortable.
The only notes I have are:
Pressure towards the top, because they're much thicker it seems there's not enough space but it's doable. Definitely better than the anc nub!
Installation is a bit tricky so be careful not to damage your headset or the cushions.
Note: about the top pressure, it's actually comfortable, I've used them for hours straight. But when I put them on it just feels as if the bottom part is disconnecting/separating from my head slightly.

My main issue with the Nova Pro is they're too small, I don't have a big head but it feels like the bottom of the ear cups are angling out because the headset is too tight. I can't see to get it to sit properly where the earpads just flush against my head. I've changed to the new earpads as well, which helped, but didn't fix
It hurts my ears I'm thinking about changing the ear cups.
Hey Techne, I just got wicked cushions for my Virtuoso XT and wanted to know if you changed your EQ after installing them. It def made audio louder to a fault, maybe im missing a setting but voice chat in fortnite was insanely loud lol. Otherwise the cushions are great.

I just covered them actually. But SS is known for a bit less clamping force. A tip (be carful) twist them in ward and they will tighten up a pinch. Maybe I'll make a video on this ;)

Wicked Cushions isn't going to fix the Arctis Nova Pro. Go for the Arctis Pro Wireless. It has multiple inputs and works. The Arctis Nova Pro is extremily low quality. Just plug in both USB inputs and then try to charge a battery. It shutts off. You might think I just had bad luck and got a defective unit. I got a replacement unit and it does the same thing. Effectively, the Arctis Nova Pro has only one USB input since you can't use both at the same time. On top of that, it has all kinds of reliability problems mostly stemming from cheap design to the point of not even having a power input that it DESPERATELY needs to be able to function in any sense. My suggestion? If you want to improve your Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, throw it away and get a Arctis Pro Wireless. A MUCH better headset.

I’m about to get those Nova Pro wired + freeze wicked version after looking carefully on what to buy. I had the Pro version back in the days, switched for Corsair RGB or wtv it’s called, dumbest thing Ive ever done, those things were so annoying on comfort, sounds was fine Ig tho. Pretty excited to go back with steelseries, I loved em, taking stinky cozy pads in case I feel that noise cancellation
The wired pros actually don't have an anc knob but I still think these cushions are a huge upgrade over the stock ones. Especially the freeze cushions...so freaking comfortable! I wear my headset practically all day and these made a huge difference
I wear glasses and these hurt my head. I use the wicked cushions too. Clamps my head. Very uncomfortable after a few mins..
I don't use headphones for hours, especially since the gel lasts literally 10 minutes. Will the regular version of Wicked Caushions without the cooling gel be enough for me to fully solve the problem of the protruding part?. Is only the version with the walking gel thick enough so that there is no problem with the protruding part?.Because in the material it says that those without gel are only a little thicker than factory ones and only those with gel need more strength to arrange on the head.
I have both sets and you can't feel the ANC nub against your ears with either.

Everything I’m reading says you need to be connected to the software but with the game deck you can connect dwyer both to the Xbox and your PC so can you use that feature on Xbox or literally only on PC? There’s a popping/bass rattling sound coming from my Nova Pro’s and it’s driving me crazy! I literally got them yesterday and I’ve tried everything but no one seems to have an answer. Someone please help 😭
I just bought one on Amazon for a little over $200 brand new. I thought that was low but it seemed completely legitimate. It came fully factory sealed with a card that says "First Edition" and "For Glory". The very thing I wanted it for is not present, no removable battery or extra battery in the console. Un-real. Amazon is now China just like Walmart I'm gonna have to stop spending any money at Amazon.

I’m coming from a Razer kraken headset and when I use the artist nova sevens they were a little bit tight behind my ear because of my glasses do the wicked cushions change that? Or work would the tightness go away after I break them in? I just found that the Razer kraken’s were a lot more comfortable in my opinion but if I just need to break them in that I’m willing to keep using the nova sevens.
I always wear glasses and they work great for me (oakley frames with straight arm)
