    Looking back on this one a couple years later.... you said you flattened your swing by thinking of putting your left hand in your right pocket...an interesting swing thought. At the end of last year I thought to myself.... stay connected....keep the upper arm connected to the chest on the backswing. This radically changed my backswing path to more inside or flat...but I combined it with a more athletic stance (more knee bend, weight on heels and more forward lean). This did something interesting... I'm not a flexible guy and before as I stood more upright, I never got my club back to horizontal. But with more forward lean and this connected backswing, I filmed it and was surprised that I was now reaching horizontal on the backswing! Another thing I notices about pros. On the backswing their hands (and you do this too Christo) go right even with the right shoulder. This backswing did this for me. I also reached a bit more for the ball on the drive and was hitting it much better. Your thoughts on all of this Christo??? Wondering if you will see this comment because the video is from 2 years ago.

      Your points are great.
      I am very upset with a coach swing in the traditional way (to be flank,it is the way of Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods)and try to analyze the contemporary swing.
      The bottom line should be:
      One should be able to swing in Ben Hogan's way then starts to talk about Ben Hogan.

    Hey Christo! I'm almost 43 and didn't start playing until I was 40. I've improved a lot..my GHIN is currently 9.3..and have shot as low as 80..and shoot consistently between 84-86. However..I struggle with my lower body like you did. I get steep in downswing, pull down with my hands etc. Only hit it about 240 with driver. You're massive improvement , especially in your mid 40's is an inspiration to me. I'm going to read Hogan's 5 lessons asap !

    Christo, thanks for teaching me how to swing a club! I had a breakthrough day today after watching dozens of your videos. I haven't shot a 77 since 1994, but I did today. I've been consistently in the high 80's and higher for years. Flattening my swing path, keeping my hands ahead of the ball, and keeping my right elbow glued to my ribcage have made me so much more consistent. I don't even feel like I'm swinging fast and I'm crushing the ball. My goal is to break par this summer! Thanks for getting me back in to the game after years of frustration.

    For me, a repeatable swing is one that 1. Has consistent contact 2. Curves the ball in one direction every time.
    I play a draw on all my shots. It's easier to me than a fade, because of the way my swing is structured.
    My draw allows me also to manage my way around the course. Since it's so consistent, I can plan out which holes to attack (in other words, holes that suit my eye) and which ones to play conservative.
    I have such great confidence I know what the ball will do that have no problem hitting 12-15 greens per round and over 70 percent of my fairways.
    I think working on your swing is great. But to really make progress, you have to choose a ball flight suited to what you want, and build your swing around that decision. Since you're into Hogan's method, I'd think a pull fade is the desired shape. But you must choose a shape first, then your swing can be built to suit.

      @@MiracleSwingExperience It's funny because you strike the ball so well. I mean man your swing is good.
      Maybe I shouldn't have given unsolicited advice, I'm just trying to help a fellow player. But dude, your swing is freaking money, I wouldn't change that too much.
      Keep going. You're doing well, and whatever changes you decide to make, I'll be listening. Maybe I'll try something you say, and get better myself. We all learn from one another.
      To be honest none of us are going to make the tour. So patience with our game and goals is important, I mean it's not like we're on a deadline, or playing for a million next week.
      Keep up the good content.

  • @user-jw9jr2ko7e

    The spirit of Ben Hogan swing is he used the constraint side, the right side, to make the arm up and down, but your swing is with left arm and the open side, the left side, to move the club up and down.
    This is the fundamental difference of the swing philosophy.

    The swing looks great, but to me it is somewhat close to Hogan's, or at least inspired by his if you will. If you watch your swing in slow motion, you are still not creating nearly the lag in the shaft angle on the way down the he did. As a result, you are also releasing the club fractionally earlier than Hogan did. Perhaps you feel this is a more consistent approach for your own swing?
    Then again a golf swing is like a fingerprint, they are all unique even if to the untrained eye two of them may look about the same. To swing literally like Hogan, you would have to have the same build, flexibilty, arm and leg proportions, hand eye coordination, hand and forearm strength etc.
    There are other very good Hogan-inspired swings out there like Dufner, Campbell and Byrd and they all share some characteristics of his swing but in the end, they are still swinging their swings and what works for their physical attributes. Dufner, like yourself, stands up just a bit at impact rather than keeping the squat that Hogan did and also like you, doesn't finish in a pronounced reverse C as Hogan did during his prime. But his, and your swings are now your own, not Hogans and that's the way it really should be. Well done.

    Christo, I really enjoy watching your vids. I've been reading 5 Lessons since about '79-80, when I found an original hardcover copy from the 1950's on my dad's bookshelf. I was frustrated with how I played; was about a year or so into hitting the local muni's with dad's clubs and I WAS A HACKER. Spent the winter digesting the chapters and really digging into the book. By spring I had a brand new golf game. Having been a Hogan fan since that time period, I can say with confidence that you have one of the closest versions to Hogan's swing I've seen. Good on you for recognizing there's work to be done in your own swing, because you look like you've got most of it down. I have to ask you, however...are your irons a custom lie (flatter?) Keep up the good work, it's a pleasure watching your golf swing.

    Very interesting. Thanks for that. I recently re-read the Short Game Bible by Dave Pelz. Pelz had Lee Trevino as the most accurate golfer of all time. His data was based on how far from the pin the player's ball ended up. I'm not sure if his data extends or even could extend back to players like Hogan. But it is interesting that Trevino once said he learned how to swing by watching Hogan on the range one day. Trevino said that a turning point in his career came when he played at Shady Oaks in Fort Worth and saw Ben Hogan on the practice range. It's interesting that he went about it so differently. Trevino had a strong grip and an open stance. It was Hogan's fade that inspired Trevino to make a swing that could produce a repeatable fade.

    • @MiracleSwingExperience
      @MiracleSwingExperience  8 лет назад

      That is so cool. I love Lee Trevino's swing.

    • @dadmaxx8641
      @dadmaxx8641 8 лет назад

      +myswingevolution Me too man...in fact, like you, I've begun an evolution, but my guys are Trevino and Couples...for some weird reason, the open stance is more consistent for me as long as my grip is strong and the ball position is correct...in the middle of my feet for an iron as I look down, but in front based on target...and very important, the shoulders need to be square...

    • @MiracleSwingExperience
      @MiracleSwingExperience  8 лет назад

      I believe everyone needs to find out how it works for themselves. Lee Trevino said he read 5 Lessons on a boat as a Marine, and then he watch Ben Hogan hit balls on the range and he figured out how to do it - his own way. Keep up the good work!

    • @dadmaxx8641
      @dadmaxx8641 8 лет назад

      +myswingevolution I think the open stance is way more natural (for most people) than a neutral or closed stance. As a tennis player, my stance is open off both wings and I know that when you take a stance to punch somebody, you would never stand square or closed. I think this is why Freddy, Vijay, Jack and Bubba are/were so long and so straight for so many years. I'm finding too that I can hit both a draw and a fade from the open stance which is huge. It's also almost impossible to flip at the ball from an open stance.

    • @MiracleSwingExperience
      @MiracleSwingExperience  8 лет назад

      Will Wilcox uses an open stance and is maybe the best ball striker on tour.

    Hi Christo. So the weight of both a baseball bat and a golf club; which are both away from the handle of a bat and golf club; does hold us back at the top of our swing. Correct? Then shouldn’t we actually swing the handle of either a bat or golf club as opposed to the entire club as one unit. Don’t the shaft of our golf club immediately bend as the head of the club repels itself backwards at the very start of our downswing? You then say the ´hold back’ of your swing forces you to use your hips knees and lower body to strike the ball. Correct?
    On the other hand Hogan said in Shell Wonderful world of golf that our down swing starts with our lower body; our hips and knees which brings our hands and arms down where we can then release the club ( head) to the ball. If you please allow me to demonstrate »
    So whose right here? You or Mr Hogan. I submit you are.
    For years I have attempted to turn my lower body faster and faster in order to propel my arms and hands back to the ball. And what a darn fool was I. Today at 73 I now know with absolute certainty that the impetus of my downswing does not start with my lower body; but with my hands on the handle of the club which then repels the weight of my club backwards and then forces my entire body in gear so I can easily swing the handle of my club to the finish of my golf swing. Another words John Daly was 100 percent correct to never focus on all his body parts as he swung the handle of his gold club As he swung his golf club handle he simply told us all to ‘ Grip it and Whip it ‘. Cheers

    Hi Christo I have studied video of hogan and yourself over and over and have been on the range a few times each week. I am working away at each element little by little. A few things I am working out for myself is that a lot of the positions attained once the transition begins are very difficult if not impossible to influence once the downswing begins. In particular the Hogan role. I have looked at this repeatedly for hours trying to establish the trigger for this move as I don't believe it is a conscious thing. My thoughts are it is a by product of everything he does up to that point then his lateral movement to the left drops the elbow down and triggers the role and everything follows in sequence after that. Interested in your thoughts.

    • @MiracleSwingExperience
      @MiracleSwingExperience  8 лет назад

      +The Watts Factory If you can just feel like you are throwing the club head through the impact, it makes the roll automatic. Like when I threw the golf ball. Slow everything down more and you will be much closer. Your club takeaway is too fast which makes your downswing a little too quick, thereby destroying all your angles as you mentioned. This is also why your club lag and release are nowhere near Hogan. I think if you relaxed your torso more you'd do better. Everything looks so stiff and technical in your torso. Relax and swing slower and you'll generate more speed. Slow that takeaway down by about a factor of 10. That should help your feel.
