Your videos make my day with hour personality and great knowledge and work ethics. I am a 76 year old dude, medically retired from 44 years in the creepy world of being a medic and homicide investigator on the civilian side. The heart disease is quickly putting my clock on speed dial, but watching your videos gives me a great deal of needed escape from the realities of the world. You actually DO make a difference to many, many lives out there, Derek! I am greatly impressed with you, your family and your buddies that help you out from time to time. Keep it up and God bless.

It depends. The reason truck frames are open C channels like this is exactly so they CAN flex and twist without cracking welds off. You actually want that unless you're doing something ultra high HP like drag racing or doing constant hole shots.
I agree tho, the notches are concerning. The one behind the cab he showed last video in particular is at the main bending node of the frame, and over time just with normal driving that WILL buckle and needs to be reinforced. I commented to Derek about it last video but who knows if they will fix em

My husband and I noticed your ring. My husband also wears one like it. If you ever need another that's super comfortable Amazon has ensu rings. They typically last a long time. My husband machanics some too. He hasn't broke this one lol.
    Thanks for the videos. 😊

The super 40 are a bit louder. I had to tone it down. My hearing is going away. To many years in an industrial environment.
At a certain tone, my hearing gets rattled.

Fire Blankets. Also get some fire blankets.. Cheep, easy, effective... easy to replace. Put them next to Fire Extinguishers.

If you, or any viewers, ever have a cylinder go off like that, one of the worst things you can do is extinguish the flame. You risk the cylinder building up pressure internally and then simply exploding without warning.
The best thing you can do is move the cylinder to atmosphere, and simply let it burn off.
UK firefighter here, having seen a few cylinders go off like this 🤣
Anywhoos, love the content, and am loving the flit between rejuvenating ancient parked up vehicles, with modifying your projects on the ranch. Thanks for the effort and the vids!

Im LOVING this build. Love seeing these from the beginning (start up and drive home) to tear down to rebuild. Its a whole lifecycle and its amazing.
I dont know a lot about car frames and their rigidity but those cut out frame rails, right behind/under the engine, scare me. Is there a plan to weld in some additional support? Cause eeeek.
Havent seen the engine rebuild yet and I suspect it will be budget friendly BUT ... gotta clean up that engine. Get some degreaser and make that ol' girl look purdy.
Keep going, Derek. We love this stuff :)

I built a 289 for a 66 Cyclone. I put in 10:5 to 1 pistons and a cam kit. That engine is one snappy engine. I am a Ford big block guy. This is my first small block Ford build and it really surprised me.
