As much as I like revivals, I believe these projects you do at home are MUCH BETTER for your health and your family. And collaborating with others really adds value to your label. Keep it up - these are the best thing on YT.
Your videos make my day with hour personality and great knowledge and work ethics. I am a 76 year old dude, medically retired from 44 years in the creepy world of being a medic and homicide investigator on the civilian side. The heart disease is quickly putting my clock on speed dial, but watching your videos gives me a great deal of needed escape from the realities of the world. You actually DO make a difference to many, many lives out there, Derek! I am greatly impressed with you, your family and your buddies that help you out from time to time. Keep it up and God bless.
Hey Derek! Those rear calipers look just like the fronts off of any f150 truck from like 76 to 96 with the wedge style calipers.I know a guy will get it figured out though. Keep up the awesome work!
Yeah, I was gonna say the same thing, try F150 front calipers... They look very similar...! I have three 94-96 f-series for my lawn service business...
C4s aren't bad... but never got one to shift right. The old FMX was rock solid and completely cast iron....and tore so many u-joints off the drive shaft.......... I loved it.
I seen a man lift a 350 4 bolt an set it on the work table he's name was Dug he worked at Franklin auto parts in the machine shop Redding California at the time he was in his early 50s
I could do that at his age...not any longer. Lower back is toast (from doing this kind of thing) and neck is shot thanks to an injury. I don't lift much any more... :(
I've barely looked under a hood in 15-20 years, but I've binged watching Vice Grip Garage. The humor, the reviving of old forgotten vehicles, the knowledge. Fun.
I love the truck Derek but if it was mine I would've had Chevy power but it's also cool that did make it all ford . I have a fella I run around with and a guy he works for off and on has a all original 1935 truck that looks like new I've all ways liked that truck but this dude has a lot of old cars and trucks
I’m a Chevrolet guy, but this truck is so cool. I’ve always dreamed of having an older chevy truck with this style just never have the time to work on a project like this. I will be following this build and can’t wait to see how cool this truck is when finished!!
I know It's none of my business but when I see you grinding without a face shield I get flashbacks to the time a disc exploded and sent shrapnel into my face. I was wearing glasses so luckily I still have my eyes because I would have lost them too. It's been over 20 years since and I still have the scars and nerve damage. If not for yourself then do it for your boys and wear a shield. If you get blinded there's no doubt the channel and your income will suffer and you will become a burden on them. Please understand I'm telling you this with a great deal of love for you guys and I don't want you to go through what I did.
Just finishing my '56 Ford truck. 9" rear axle 4 ling triangulated on air. REAR CALIPERS.Rebuild kits are available. I tig welded the e-brake part of the caliper solid, Cast iron rod. Now you just a regular caliper. No rebuild kit for the E brake side. Mine where all rusty. Ran them last year with no problems. Great videos , Prepping for my First drag and drive Sick Route 66.
Just watched the rear end get built on Dave's channel. Now I get to see the comedy duo at work again! Things don't get better than this! Also, Derek, can you explain to us amateurs how you knew the acetylene tank was leaking🤣🤣🤣
Derek mentioned straight away that someone was grinding... doesn't matter who at this point.... the sparkles caught the leakage and poof - there it is!!
He also said that they basically dodged a bullet because the cylinder didn't have enough pressurized compressed product in it to actually become a rocket or worse yet explode. Depending on certain factors.
Got see this puppy in person yesterday. It was really cool to see some of Dave's work in person. Unfortunately I didn't get to shake a Guy's hand though, that line was something fierce and the kiddos weren't gonna keep it together standing still for that long! Hopefully next time, thanks for the family-friendly content!
Competent, capable people who actually get things done the right way rather than making funny hand gestures and concocting goofy phrases to market junk to a dumbed-down audience of mooks tend to be that way.
Dave Chappelle of 'The Dirthead Shed' is an awesome guy...he's smart, knowledgeable, capable, experienced, a real car guy, fabricator and he's pretty damn funny too! He's a little bit mellower version of Derek Bieri, Paul Cox, Tony Augustino and so on, good company to be in on RUclips for sure. ;)
@@logicthought25 Are you forgetting all the cracks and the severe bucher/hack job that was done to it? Frankly I just would have started looking for a donner frame.
It depends. The reason truck frames are open C channels like this is exactly so they CAN flex and twist without cracking welds off. You actually want that unless you're doing something ultra high HP like drag racing or doing constant hole shots. I agree tho, the notches are concerning. The one behind the cab he showed last video in particular is at the main bending node of the frame, and over time just with normal driving that WILL buckle and needs to be reinforced. I commented to Derek about it last video but who knows if they will fix em
@@bryanbsa8927 Its steel u can fix it man everyone is to quick to start fresh its a budget build, minus the quite frankly expert 4 link install.... yeah alright u make a small point.

Last year I put a triangle 4-bar under my 39 Ford, with QA-1 coil overs. Rides like a dream. Put the headers on and build the engine mounts around the headers. Cool stuff.
Been watching since the start. You've built a lot of cool stuff, but there is something about this one I like more than any of them. It's cool looking to start with, but going through and making it your own and taking it back to all ford is pretty cool.

I built a 289 for a 66 Cyclone. I put in 10:5 to 1 pistons and a cam kit. That engine is one snappy engine. I am a Ford big block guy. This is my first small block Ford build and it really surprised me.

I dont know a lot about car frames and their rigidity but those cut out frame rails, right behind/under the engine, scare me. Is there a plan to weld in some additional support? Cause eeeek.
Havent seen the engine rebuild yet and I suspect it will be budget friendly BUT ... gotta clean up that engine. Get some degreaser and make that ol' girl look purdy.
Keep going, Derek. We love this stuff :)
You are living the American dream for all of us 😂😮
Hooking that engine was impressive. (19:37) I had to rewind and watch that again.
Very rare a guy is this early to a video, we appreciate you sir, thank you.
Dave's demeanor reminds me of Kevin Smith from KSR. Calm cool & collected, give you the shirt off his back kinda guy. Nice to have a friend like that 👍
i dont see how you did this in 3-4 days and collaborated who, when, what and where to record! i watched Dave's channel and now this and flawless!!!
I built a 289 for a 66 Cyclone. I put in 10:5 to 1 pistons and a cam kit. That engine is one snappy engine. I am a Ford big block guy. This is my first small block Ford build and it really surprised me.
Hope your knee is feeling better!
Nice work man! Looks like a super fun build. I'm just down the road from ya. I actually painted/ customized vehicles professionally for 20 plus years before turning my side hustle (building custom cabinets) into a business. Been binge watching videos ever since I found your channel, love the content. I know how much effort goes into these videos, much appreciated.
Hell yeah! Another VGG video!!!
IMMEDIATELY smashed the like button, already a sub, so all I can do now is say how much I love VGG, Derek and the entire Bieri clan; give a HUGE THANK YOU to a feller, a feller's family and friends and God Bless you and God Bless the U.S.A.!!!
Between Derrick and Dave I have had something good to watch every night this week on the same project.
This is going to be an awesome build! Can’t wait to see it finished!👍👍 Love ford trucks!
Never been this early to a fellers vidja!
