Hi, Great video. Wanted to mention that the same principle for eyebrows applies. The wider the space between your brows, the wider the nose looks. And conversely, the more narrow the space between brows, the more narrow the nose appears!
I’ve known about pocket placement but it was so helpful to see you modeled all your jeans. Another thing to consider is the color of topstitching. The less contrast the better, imo.
Great video! Levi’s girl myself and I’ve recently found that well fitting 100% cotton (or close to it) jeans are the most flattering on me, especially as I age.
I have been so busy looking at all & I mean all my jeans!! Wow you are right about an eye opening! I will never ever look at jeans the same way. Thank you so very much!!
Have not done your experiment so am so pleased to see this video. I am 5' 1" with my butt being a major body part issue. My goal is similar to yours. Thank you for the first video I've seen address this!
You are so kind, I think we all want something different from what we have including me 😂. The experiment is very subjective and keep in mind we are all beautiful just the way we are. I just thought it was so interesting how my bum looked different in every pair. Thanks for commenting!! ❤️❤️❤️
Love your channel. I’m short with a flat butt & this was so helpful. Iknewabou the higher pocket placement but seeing these on someone was fantastic. I’m looking at all my jeans now. Pockets, inseam Rise, all soo important
Great video. When I look at jeans I have a whole process of what I look for even before trying them own....they are almost the most difficult or time consuming.
Hi Lori, as a petite person (5’1”) and weight, 135#, I find it harder and harder to find jeans I look good in. In addition, being post-menopausal, nothing fits right. Now I got a big butt to worry about. 😮😆 But you are so right. When I’m trying on jeans, I’m looking at my waistline, the length, front and sides, but rarely the back. Thanks for this video. I’m getting all my jeans, trying them on, and taking pics of my backside!
As I’m watching your video I’m in my closet with the tape measure checking pocket distance and size!😂 I think I’m okay! Whew! Lori, you bring us the best and most helpful content! Loving your hair! ❤️
Great video! I have read about pocket size and placement but seeing the comparison on a real body is everything!! My measurements are almost exactly the same as you except that my once round butt is now drooping. I have found the Old Navy Short Mid Rise Bootcut and straight leg styles look best on me. I also have a pair of Jag petite jeans which fit well. Mid Rise is so important for my fit so that the jeans don't sag in the butt. Thanks for videos that are real and authentic.
Great video! I just checked out all my jeans.I have identical Wit and Wisdom Jeans in 4P and 4R. The pockets on the petite jeans are smaller, and the placement is better for those of us who are shorter in the lower body. The Ann Taylor jeans and Chicos jean are petite also have smaller better placed back pockets...I am donating all those jeans that are not petite - my butt looks slouchy and flat in them! Thanks again - great content!!!
Marks & Spencer's in the UK do amazing jeans in different lengths so there's no need to have them altered. I love their Eva bootcut and for straight jeans, their Autograph straight leg jeans with lyocell and their Sienna range, for slim straight jeans their Lily range suits my petite slim body (with a slightly too wide booty & hips)
I was just thinking the other day that I need one of those three way mirrors like in SOME stores so I could see the back of me. Many times I shop by myself.
Love your video! I now want to check my backside in all of my jeans. I never spend a lot of money on jeans and really like Old Navy. Hopefully I still do after the try on.
Hi Lori, This was really interesting! You didn’t say which you prefer, but I thought that of all the pairs you showed, the INC ones were the most flattering. 😊I also think that maybe some of what you’re seeing is down to either the style of the jeans (relaxed versus more body con) and the fit. I remember when you bought those Frame jeans and although I don’t recall if you showed a rear view, I thought they were super flattering. So maybe to some degree it’s just your taste is changing? In any case, I really appreciated the analysis!
The very first thing I noticed about the first two pairs was the one on the left looked tighter than the one on the right. It made the one on the right look like it fit you much more comfortably and flattering than the one on the left (in addition to the pocket information..). This tells me I need to take photos of my butt in all my pants, so I know what it looks like! Great video!
Another great video, thank you. I didn’t realise the word “bum” was used in the States, I thought it was UK only 🤭 trust me to pick up on that part, I blame it on spending the weekend with my little nieces who are at the stage of enjoying mildly rude words. I have regressed.
Interesting! My jeans are all from Talbots (I like the slim ankle style because the mid-rise works best on my 5’0” self!). I need to try them on asap and see what they are doing to my butt!
I had the same issue with Mother jeans. The pockets were way to low. I ended up returning every pair I tried. Too bad, because Mother has some of the best denim out there
I love how you show the difference! Although it may be my age group, early 40's, since you're not over weight and have a good figure, I really like the more expensive jeans on you because it gives you a tighter fit and a good butt 😅 I definitely wouldn't go tiny pockets, but I'm also one who's always trying to give my self more of a butt lol. The higher pockets were better too. ❤
I keep a little compact mirror in my purse, so I can check the back view of anything I try on. It’s a game changer. Just have your back to the large fitting room mirror and look at your back view in your compact mirror.
I am 5'3" , long waisted, shorter legs--heavy bottom, small waist. LL Bean has some GREAT fitting jeans that flatter me. They are available in petite length. Price is around $80-$100. Great video. Thanks. Take care.
Thank you, Lori - My task today....check the backs of all of my jeans using two mirrors😁. My derriere is quite substantial🙄, in my opinion. I've always admired those "athletic" bodies that have almost no behind.....but, I'm short, and curvy - hourglass shape. Just the opposite of what I like.🙃
I’ve known this for a long time. I’ve wondered why many jeans makers make their pockets too small and/or place them too low. Always take a look in the mirror at your backside before buying jeans.
Jean manufacturers make sure the fabric grain runs straight on front of jeans so they look great. Then on the back side they run the grain on the diagonal, which is why it creates the squeeze to back of thigh. Pocket placement is important. Best pocket placement does not detract from the squeezeed sausage look!
This is a great video! We really need to pay attention to the back of us. I'm going to have to look over my jeans now and I'm a little afraid due to having a flat pancake butt, lol. One backside story I have is when I was wearing a pair of white chino shorts and checked what I looked like in back. Not for the shorts but I had a top with some cutout in back and wanted to make sure I had no bra show. When I looked, I was horrified that, despite having on nude for me underwear, all I could see were these two huge squares on my butt that were the pocket linings. I looked at the front, and sure enough those pockets stood out too now. I swear I never noticed them when I just checked the front out. I was never able to not see them after that and so got rid of the shorts. Thank you for reminding us that we should check ourselves from all angles.
I've noticed pocket placement for years. If I mentioned it to other they look shocked. Pockets going down to the thighs look so bad. Next, look at patterns! If pocket placement shocks you, patterns will horrify you! I saw one woman with a HUGE sunflower on one cheek. And when she walked!! Oh My!!
By the same token, looking at my daughters behind I realized that low rise jeans do nothing for ones behind except to make it look short from waistband to bottom of butt cheek and miles wide. If you need to widen your butt, definitely go for low rise.
Been there done that! I’m on the hunt for jeans and want to thank you for this video.
The most valuable jeans video ever made.
That is too kind, I’m so glad it was helpful! 💕💕
OMG! Something else to “worry” about! 🤷♀️

VERY informative. Never realized it was pocket placement and size responsible for whether a jean looked good or not.
Thank you!

It’s crazy right now? I never really paid attention. 😂
I can see now how valuable this info is, especially for shorter women. Still have 8 more pounds to get to my goal! Thanks again!
@@ladeanlombardi8638 great job on your goal!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for such a great video! I will be measuring pockets from now on!
Great video...I appreciate that you not only pointed out how important pocket placement can be but also included brands and price range.
Thank you ❤️

@@LoriLundquist oh, believe me, i ran to try on my 3 pairs of jeans to check my bum! Best video ever. You are wonderful❤️
This has been very helpful, a petite woman with great information...love it!
So kind, thank you! 😊 💕💕
What a great idea. Scary to try lol. This should go viral…..thanks
Hahaha yes the results were not what I was expecting but definitely eye opening! 😂😂😂
This is so helpful, Lori! I've never even given a thought to the pockets.
I never paid much attention either! I do now lol what a shock 😳 😂
Great info! Would love to see this with other items such as khaki pants (pleats vs no pleats), blazers, etc. 😊
Great idea! I’m almost scared to do this experiment again 😂😂

lol too funny, I hate those back pocket linings! I don’t understand why brands do that especially in light shorts. 😂😂
@@LoriLundquist I know, the least they could do is use a tan/beige colored fabric. Or just make them fake like so many brands do.

Also, if you can find a pair of trousers that have a flap on the pocket, it will make your butt appear higher!
I like the jeans on the left (frame and mother). Your butt looks more round than like a square.
Well thank you 😊. I guess it’s all very subjective 😁
