    Very musical ! Beautiful touch. A little slow maybe for my taste but with so much expression. Bravo !

      Thanks for your comment! I actually found it hard to stick to the metronome marking for this piece as I naturally feel it faster too. But the feeling of nostalgia and poignancy is more easily projected if it's at the suggested tempo.

    Do we have to apply pedal throughout the song ? Kindly reply me

    • @jillmortonpianist
      @jillmortonpianist  Год назад +2

      Yes, it's the kind of piece that needs quite a lot of pedal. It says at the beginning of the piece to use it and in bar 3, it says 'sim ad lib'. That just means that throughout the rest of the piece do similar pedalling to the first couple of bars and adjust it if you need to change it more frequently. Hope that helps!

    You play beautifully and very musically with a beautiful legato, well done and thank you! Just a small remark: your choice of tempo a little too slow unfortunately gives a little school side...that you do not deserve with your talent but again well done for your moving interpretation!

      Thank you for your comment! I really wanted to play faster but the tempo indication in the publication was much slower and so I felt that I had to stick to that. It gives the piece a very different feel playing it slower! Can I ask, did you put any tempo marking in the original publication? The trinity book says crotchet equals 92

    • @nathaliebera-tagrine3256
      @nathaliebera-tagrine3256 3 года назад +3

      @@jillmortonpianist It's not so much the written tempo that is important, it's a nostalgic waltz : faster or a little slower, the important thing is that it is not note for note. Quarter note =92 is just an indication but not a requirement.

      It’s funny because when I recorded this piece and listened back, I thought that for a grade 6 piece, the way I played was too flexible and not what was required/wanted by an exam board. I then checked what tempo was asked for and that was completely different to what I’d recorded too so I completely changed the way I played it and recorded it again! I always try to stay as true to the score as possible. I think it’s a really lovely piece and that it’s a super addition to the grade 6 syllabus 😃

      Please see the comments above. I wanted to play it faster, but thought I'd better stick to the printed metronome mark!
