    If Omega had an option for hesalite on the dial and sapphire on the case back every employee at the company could have retired by now.

      You may already be aware, but the reference 3572.50 was exactly that, and still fairly easy to come by. Was sold from the late 90s through to the 2000s. 1861 though of course.

      I think what you want is slightly modified dial so that sapphire doesn't show the milky ring. They have other sapphire crystals without the ring, but what do I know?

    I’m in Singapore and enjoy watching your videos Brad. Don’t normally comment, but had to for this; Hesalite all the way! Love mine for the clarity it gives (no milky edge), consistency of the bracelet (no shiny bits) and honesty to the original (no view of the movement, as I know it’s in there!). Cheers

    I bought my hesalite Speedy from Brad last month…I absolutely love it and decided to go that way because I personally feel the hesalite just looks better than sapphire, along with the more vintage vibe and being more closely related to the original. It’s also the one that’s still NASA flight qualified.

    Honestly, hesalite is more suitable for daily “aggresive” use due to its thickness (slightly though), whereas sapphire version is more suitable for formal company dinner and the likes. If one has the extra cash, one may consider to buy both instead , over and above one’s existing Rolex 🤭in my sweetest dream ever, if only 😅

    That sapphire 3861 will be my next purchase, for sure. Love my hesalite 1861, but personally prefer the scratch resistance, applied logo, and open caseback on the sapphire model.
    I'm not saying the scratching is a huge deal on hesalite. It's admittedly pretty easy to buff out the scratches with Polywatch, but I do find myself wearing the watch less in certain situations because I know it's more likely to get scratched.
    Gotta get to work on moving some of my current pieces and then I'll certainly hit you up for the new Speedy soon. (And possibly the Seamaster 300 🤷‍♂️)

  • @robinhook37
    @robinhook37 2 года назад +15

    I own both but strongly prefer the look of the hesalite. 1. The light play, reflection and distortion gives a vintage feel, vs sapphire just looks plain and uninteresting. 2. The milky ring of the sapphire is just ugly, which breaks the continuity from the dial to the bezel. 3. Sapphire actually catches fingerprints and smudges way easier. 4. The applied modern Omega logo is uninteresting, if it’s the vintage logo I’d think again. 5. The only pro of sapphire is the case back, not a big deal because I rarely look at the movement. But I hope there could be aftermarket display case back in the future at least to give the option.
