Superman returns will always be my favorite Superman movie. Routh was just so gentle and his flight is so fluid. The score is absolutely looked over and imho, absolutely beautiful.

This is why Man of Steel is masterpiece from any perspective. Visuals , music and story. I love how Cavil's Superman is in the beginning struggling to use those powers. He wasn't taught , he had to explore himself literatelly . The idea that he didn't know how to use those powers makes him that more human compared to what humans thought of him , as a god . We don't see that in majority of super hero movies .
Bro i say this for years. Man of steel is an absolute masterpiece, for me its the best superhero film of all time. 10/10 score 10/10 visuals 10/10 fight scenes 10/10 writing. People who hate this have no clue about filmmaking. Every character decision makes sense but little kids come up with "thats not how superman should be"
The only issues are that his father’s death scene was contrived, and the end fight has him deliberately crashing into buildings and stuff instead of leading Zod away from Metropolis. Other than that, I really like Man of Steel

Man of Steel was, in my opinion the best Superman movie ever made. Damn Supes flight sequences were intense. As much as I didn't care too much for returns, it had some good stuff. I mean, after all it's still a Superman movie and if it happens to be on I probably will watch it because I love Superman. I still think MoS was the best DCEU movie and it clearly had some of the most astounding visuals I've ever seen in a comic book film.
Man of Steel is quite easily the best Superman movie. It shows how truly powerful he is, and yet it shows how flawed of a person he is. He isn't upbeat, he is powerful, authoritative, and he is learning. This movie is an origin. Superman must discover himself and his motivation to fight. Reeve's Superman never went through that, Routh's Superman never went through that. This movie had to be more mature and a bit darker to separate itself from Marvel's films. The score was perfect, the casting was perfect. The movie may not be, but no Superhero film is. You have to accept that Superman is different now, and I think that's for the better, because despite the darker tone, Superman was still a savior and a symbol of hope.
Sounds like you’re saying Man of Steel betrayed the hopeful spirit of Superman but it just did that to separate itself from Marvel. Lame. Man of Steel was good. It could have been better though.

That early scene from Man of Steel where he ascends, camera focuses on him and he pauses from a moment and then speeds up and goes into orbit is so great and expertly done cause it catches the Superman feel; Earth's mightiest and greatest superhero, the protector, your "guardian angel" with a cape
And then Zack Snyder completely misunderstood Superman, ruining Henry Cavill’s performance, and leading to a complete reboot because the movies were dogshit.
Cosmic armor Superman Superman's whole "deal" is that he's the unapologetically optimistic champion of humanity, and yet this movie still feels the need to constantly apologize. It's a Superman movie for people who don't like Superman.
I just love the flying sequence from 4:34 minutes... especially the sound of the cape...it's so beautifully captured...with the sun in the background...
Whenever Superman flies, he does it with such grace, elegance and power you actually feel YOU are Superman. All the other cinematic superheroes simply do not compare to Superman when it comes to the beauty of flight.

Reeve was fantastic. I will always miss his smile. Cavill is the only Superman besides him that I can watch although I did kind of feel for routh because he honestly wasn't that bad and he was basically doing a Reeve tribute. Hopefully going forward we will get to see cavill let out his charisma as Superman when he comes back in Justice league. Can't forget about Reeve though it was him who made me love Superman when I was a kid and I've loved the Character ever since.

Well yeah, Because Superman Returns is a direct sequel of Superman II. While i thinl that Christopher Reeve is the best Superman and Clark Kent, Henry Cavill is like a good modern take on Superman.
JoeyVerminRedxNight I know he was playing Reeve’s Superman. I was telling @Brad Larson that he was Christopher Reeve’s Superman, he was saying that Routh’s Superman felt like Christopher Reeve’s Superman and I thought it was stupid of him not to know that it was Christopher Reeve’s Superman

For all you Returns haters out there, I just wanna remind you that Superman carried an island of kryptonite out of the ocean and into space. An ENTIRE island of FUCKING KRYPTONITE. Best Superman scene OFF ALL TIME. No matter which movie you think is better I can't understand how people can argue that it isn't
Kal-El fan 49 Why not? His desire to save the planet was so strong that he overcame his weakness. Anyone can overcome their weakness. It's actually inspiring, better than just a bunch of punching and things blowing up for an hour. And by the way, Superman overcame kryptonite before in some of the comics, so it is accurate.
Man of Steel was great in the theater, and it's a Superman movie you have to see a few times to "get it". Once you've seen it a few times you start to get it, and once you get it, it's one of the best Superman movies.
Let's be honest. Brandon Routh's Supes flying scenes were way more visually appealing, aesthetic and elegant to the eyes. The shot and composition of the flying scenes were designed to mirror the iconic imagery from the original Christopher Reeves films and to evoke the classic, timeless feel of Superman as a symbol of Hope and inspiration. 'The Plane Rescue' scene from the movie demonstrated arguably the best portrayal of Superman's lone rescue mission in a live-action film. The flying scenes were shot with a focus on composition and beauty while being technical and cinematic. The camera angles, lighting, and framing were designed to make Superman look larger-than-life, almost like a god among men. The use of wide shots and slow-motion emphasized the grandeur of his flight. Man of Steel, on the other hand, was a better action and technically impressive film. The flying scenes of Henry's Cavil's Supermam were more grounded in a modern, gritty realism. While impressive from a technical standpoint, the heavy use of CGI and the faster, more aggressive flying style made it feel less like the classic Superman and more like a superhero in a contemporary action movie. The flying scenes were more dynamic and fast-paced, with a lot of close-up shots, motion blurs and rapid movements. While this approach worked for the film's tone, it lacked the same sense of elegance and majesty that *Superman Returns* achieved.
What I do like about the flying scenes in Superman Returns and Man of Steele is that you can appreciate how fast Superman can fly...I do love every time he breaks the sound barrier.
Ah yes! The godfather of all Superheroes showing how he inspired entire generations of youngsters with his iconic flight abilities. Ruling the superhero genre for 50+ years with no real competition, he helped ingrain the need for a sense of imagination in world-wide culture. The ability to reach beyond the stars (something lacking in today's world). He may not be the currently most popular character, but he will always be the one respected for ushering in the entire genre for both comics and movie-verse. Heroes may rise & fade, but there will always be Superman standing at the end of the day.

Cavill is a great Superman but most of his flying scenes are either too far out, he's super tiny or he's too close to the camera. Doesn't make a good cinematic experience. Routh's Superman on the other hand is very similiar to how Superman flies in most of the DC animations, very cinematic and eye candy.
Man of steel movie is way ahead of time. VFX scenes are great even in 2020 very few movies have this kind creative VFX. Synder has accurately represent the power of Superman in man of steel and batman v Superman.

The flying sequences in Superman Returns were great and easy on the eyes. Those in Man of Steel were chaotic and hard to follow what with the shaky camera method of filming.

Both films had certain Great elements. MOS shows his strength and power. Returns shows his humanity and his power to inspire hope. And each one lacked what the other had.
Flying and punching in the same time only the real superman can do that :)
Routh's style was good... but Cavill's really captured to pure power and physicality of Superman's flight. I dig that.
People don't realize this but Superman Returns is a piece of art
The way Cavil fly gives me goosebump, but Brouth gives me hope
While MOS had speed, Superman Returns had grace and form with flying, just enjoyed how he flew visually.
Snyder's a fricking genius, he can make me cry just watching Superman flying. And overall, Man of Steel is one of the best films, ever.
Man of steel is the best superman movie ever made
+ryanthaiable not really but okay
better than brandon routh and reeves
+ryanthaiable I agree.
+ryanthaiable for our time I would say yes, for the 70's Reeves was better.
+ryanthaiable no.... Superman the Movie is....
The Man of Steel Superman is like every other Superhero today .... the Chris Reeve Version inspired with a good heart everbody can look up to, even or specially in todays world !
Man of steel Theme music gives me chills!!
Really? Blargh.
I don't give a fuck how badly people dislike superman returns or brandon routh, at least he got to be fucking superman. I'm still waiting for a superman casting phone call hahaha
10:31 everybody loved that shot to the point video games used it.
Injustice 2 right?!
Flying and fighting is soo cool to watch
Also on Invincible
also eternals 🤭
Man of steel movie is way ahead of time. VFX scenes are great even in 2020 very few movies have this kind creative VFX. Synder has accurately represent the power of Superman in man of steel and batman v Superman.
Superman returns is the real superman
Yes sun scene>>>>all
Hooolly shhit!!! Last night I dreamed flying like this!! Breaking the atmosphere, testing myself ,jumping from a rooftop and not falling down, arriving wherever in seconds ,all this on the night and it was that real …. Ufff 😮💨😭 i wish it wasn’t just a dream ……. Actually it is not my first time dreaming about flying, i remember once that i was on my bedroom floating and thinking “is it a dream?? ,no it is not a dream ,it’s for real !!! I’m flying in real life!!! “ god i hate waking up from those dreams 😭
And that's why Man of Steel is best Superman ever, shit, now I want to re-watch the whole, hyped all over again!
when Superman flew in Man of Steel I literally was flying with him. It was so epic
SalamSeven7 ñj
Yoo Hoo yeah, amazing what cgi can do...
SalamSeven7 i watched it like 4 or 5 times by now. The best super hero movie ever, imo
Zack Snyder should do a panel for panel recreation of the Frieza Saga for DBZ.
+Scott Peterson Random. Not sure he'd care tbh.
+Scott Peterson who fucking cares for dbz
+KillNamniaR alot of people do
dradra2day lol
+KillNamniaR anime is just as good if not better then marvel and DC bro
0:31 .. maybe one of the best scene..
The amount of time superman spends idling flying around with lois karen lane is too much; a civilian somewhere else has already died of crime/accident.
Amazing how much better the experience is without the terrible plots and dialogue. I've gotta say though as much as I like the flying scenes in Man of Steel. The flying in
Superman Returns seems so much more fun and graceful. Especially how the camera follows his movements.
i had a same opinion in this however comparing with the man of steel it isn't still good enough in many ways.Infact man of steel is where we see the true superman action, power, flight, speed and heroic advanture

Superman returns is such an underrated film
Huge props for the camera man! I don’t even know how he was able to capture them
Zack Snyder took it to himself to fly behind Cavill in order to get the shots perfected without using any CGI
After watching this video, I come to appreciate SR even more..
i like how you put old school and man of steel its asome
Man of Steel for sure
The flying sequences in Superman Returns were great and easy on the eyes. Those in Man of Steel were chaotic and hard to follow what with the shaky camera method of filming.
Yeah, it's mostly the same in BvS. He just shoots up and creates a sonic boom, and it gets boring.
Well said, mate! Just because something is done recently doesn't mean its better than a version that was done many years ago. Same can be said for a a cooking process. New process doesn't mean better than an earlier method!
+alijahshad02 LOL! smh
+BigBangStudios I personally really liked the ones in MoS. It felt like we're trying to keep up with him.I never had an issue with the cinematography but to each their own.
Me encantó brandon y la música 💗🤍🤍👌🏻👌🏻🤍🤍💟💟💜💜💟💗🤍🤍👌🏻💖💝💝💌🤩🔥💜💟💟💗🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍💖💝👍🏻😍
10:31 that’s half of Superman’s supermove in Injustice 2
Brandon Ruth was also amazing... He did not get what he deserved, amazing actor.
Thank You Zack Synder for Man of Steel!
Said no one ever...
+TheRUclipsr 88 apparently quite an amount (me included) take your hate elsewhere
True, man of steel is the best superman movie ever made
+Simple X. I am just going to say, Snyder could've made this epic but he settles for only good. I would've loved to see Clark flying before he wears the suit and kinda hoped for a mixture Birthright, Secret Origins and Earth one storyline with Zod still as the main antagonist.
+Laughing Monster Productions Thank you! We don't need marvel fans opinions. It's also people like him that makes me not want to become a marvel fan, even though I also like marvel.
Awesome edit thanks
8:15 when someone pinch me *🤣🤣🤣🤣
8:16 when I step on a thumbtack with no shoes on🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
i think Brandon Routh is strong superman than other's, he can lift a island full of kryptonite
There’s just something about the cape flapping sound from superman returns that just can’t be beat.
This is the best super man movie ever
superman flying scenes always the most inspired scenes to me
Lol, after the majesty and tranquility of Superman Returns, there's only chaos and destruction.
10:58 my mom trying to make me eat vegetables as a kid.
😂😂
😅
Flying is an underrated super power
