I enjoyed Superman Returns, even with it's flaws. The one thing I enjoyed the most, is how Brandon Routh and Kevin Spacey put obvious effort into getting the mannerisms, and quirks of Christopher Reeves and Gene Hackman into their performances. That was a great way to honor those before them, and fans of the original movies.
For those that might have been paying attention. The bartender in the scene where Clark sees the accident is happening is none other than the original Jimmy Olsen from the George Reeves Superman series.
They did something similar in the first movie. When Clark was racing the train, the two parents with the child watching him run was supposed to be a young Lois Lane and her parents were actors who appeared in the TV series.
@@loanaoftheshellpeople7744 I'm a grown ass 50, something, I saw Reeve in the movie in 1977. I remember the entire movie, I know the scene. I really enjoyed "Superman Returns" it was never a disappointment to me, as a matter of fact in my opinion I believe it ranks up there among one of the very best. Too bad the driving forces behind this one, did not give Brandon Routh another chance as the Man of Steel.
John Lee I for one would love to see Routh back as Superman! Like everyone else in this film (perhaps with the exception of Bosworth as Lois) the casting was spot on. There was so much good in this film, unlike the devisive newer ones being made now.
I enjoyed the movie, watched it a few times and enjoyed it even more as I caught on more details. But I am also disappointed because, having watched it several times like that, the major plot points were basically the first Superman movie, rehashed. That took away a few stars from enjoyment of the movie but still a good one.
Brandon Routh was the only thing I didn't enjoy to some degree about this movie. His effeminate acting/look is one of the reasons I couldn't stand the movie!
This Scene is so badass, especially when the wing of the plane torn off, Superman stopped for a split second and thought "Well that's not going to work, plan B NOW". THE SARGE
@@thesarge4457 The reaction shot of Superman with the wing was one of the many I added for this edit so I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for commenting.
I highly enjoyed it when I saw it and didn't have a problem with it at the time. The plane sequence is awesome. Watching it years later, the most trouble I had with it was that he lifted a continent made out of kryptonite or I think he did, whish doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Rest of the movie is just fine.
I love this movie didn't have any main issues with. Recently when I watch it last, I cringe at the Kevin Spacey's scenes. However that is the only issue that I have with that movie, is that Spacey is in the movie.
Superman's line, "It's still the safest way to travel", is a reference to Christopher Reeve's comment in Superman (1978) after rescuing Lois from the falling helicopter. "Well, I certainly hope this little incident hasn't put you off flying, miss. Statistically speaking, of course, it's still the safest way to travel."
Of course. They were paying tribute to Christopher with that, as well as the close up and smile in Earth orbit. DC movies and TV shows are good at that. So true. The trailer actually did a slightly better job than the movie itself with Supes approaching the plane. The Air Traffic Control cut scene should have been done better, more shock or fear on their faces. They did a good job showing him catch back up to the fuselage after the wing broke. THAT part and the catch were nicely done. But the approach needed something more. He had been gone for 5 years. Something was just missing.

And thank you Brandon Routh for doing a wonderful job channeling Reeve in this film.
Routh Has True Heroic Bearing! His Arrowverse Appearances, Including The Crossover Where He Reprises His Superman Performance Show That It Was The Script And NOT His Portrayal That Made "Superman Returns" The Disappointment Everyone Thinks It Is.
Superman was always dropping some knowledge at the end of whatever he was doing. I'm upset they took that out of the movies. He always had these witty one liners.
in 1978 me and my twelve year old friend sat through the whole movie superman with our mouths wide open with shock that a man could fly and talked about this for weeks after .
ive been a fan since i was 7 im now 65 this sequence is my idea of superman beautifully edited and you could see him fly not just disappear in a nanosecond well done young man
Thank you. It's been clear to me from the comments that people have very different views of the character and many are unaware of what I was trying to do here but I'm so glad that so many others like yourself share the classic version of Superman.
Thank you for fixing this scene. It is short sweet and has a very nostalgic feel to it and I feel that a lot of people would have reacted differently if it was made this way.
Even a youngster like me at 24, the 1978 and 1980 superman 1 and 2 were my favourite childhood movies, it doesn't matter what era it was I watched the old superman movies all time, all thanks to my dad who got me into superman.
Love the musical score when he finally stops it... Then the action reaction force effect causes the plane to vibrate... Then he gently let's it dwn... That beat is glorious!!!!!?
Far too many people are hating this movie for no reason at all! This movie is not a reboot, remake, or reimagined movie. It is a continuation of Christopher Reeves' Superman Movie from 80's. Brandon Routh did a teriffic job playing as Superman the way Christopher Reeves would have played it. Blame the script/story not the actors who did outstanding job.
Brandon Routh did an excellent job !!! I love superman returns, his superman is in my heart .. Christophere Reeve and Brandon Routh are my favorite superman ❤❤
I loved both Brandon and Kate as Clark/Superman and Lois in this movie. I thought they were both fantastic. I'm so disappointed that they never made a sequel with this cast.
That’s very true I actually like him better than the superman that they have now and even changed his outfit but the best of all time of course is Christopher reeve I’m sure everyone can agree on that but the modern day superman should have been continued by Brandon Routh I was so upset when they got this other guy he really doesn’t fit the superman look I think they just went with him because he’s a big boy
Brandon rough is the strongest Superman we’ve seen in a movie. He’s also my favorite Superman of all time. He embedded the character better than anyone in my opinion. This movie is just phenomenal
I watched this and aside from the blurriness I thought to myself, "isn't this originally how it was? What was changed?" After reading the description all I can say is this edit is perfect. Spot on.
Really an intense scene. I loved it. Brandon's Superman is my second favourite.. Chris Reeve is first of course, but this movie suxed, but Brandon Superman, his acting the Powers were brilliant. I just wish it had better casting around Brandon and a better storyline.
There's plenty of "Superman Returns" scenes that should have been remade, but the plane rescue sequence is not among them. The SR plane rescue sequence is still by far the best action sequence in any Superman movie.
Balls he the worst best is Henry Cavill the Tom selling then Christopher Reeves and I grow up with Christopher Reeves superman even saw superman 2 in the cinema but this is the best superman scene in this movie in Reeves day helicopter cavil oil rig Brian picked a man that was two skinny to be superman

Superman is a hero who should uplift you and not make you depressed and moody. Long live Christopher Reeve! The greatest superman ever. And thank you Brandon Routh for doing a wonderful job channeling Reeve in this film.
Brandon Ruth - U were better even! Cheers Man.
Williams's music takes this scene to a whole new level !!!!
What? It's in the fucking film. This is weird.
Christopher Reeves and Brandon Routh are the greatest actor play as Superman..so perfect !
How about henry cavill?
“Reeve”
Routh & Cavill Cgi Sups@@Tygajakoleromoby
@@Tygajakoleromobycgi sups along with Routh
Brandon Routh made a great Man of Steel.
Routh Has True Heroic Bearing! His Arrowverse Appearances, Including The Crossover Where He Reprises His Superman Performance Show That It Was The Script And NOT His Portrayal That Made "Superman Returns" The Disappointment Everyone Thinks It Is.
I don't understand the dislikes!!!
This scene is incredible,
Lex Luthor fans!
All the critics (fan & professional) that know nothing but how to hate.
😄👍
@Ronald Hill 😁👍
@Ronald Hill mate you just trumped my story well done !
michaelstarwars66
I did too and at 12 in 1978 lol. Like star wars it was ahead of its time.
ive been a fan since i was 7 im now 65 this sequence is my idea of superman beautifully edited and you could see him fly not just disappear in a nanosecond well done young man
This was done sooo beautifully it made this 63-year-old man cry!! Great job!
This 50 year old right there with ya!👍👍👍👍👍
I'm gladI'm not alone at 63. Grtz from Belgium
I'm only 45 but danm thats the real music.
Even a youngster like me at 24, the 1978 and 1980 superman 1 and 2 were my favourite childhood movies, it doesn't matter what era it was I watched the old superman movies all time, all thanks to my dad who got me into superman.
I really enjoy this movie, that’s why I bought my super man T-shirt though I’m 51 years old.
Now THAT is Superman 😀
Why didn't they keep that classic Williams score?
They did. They blended it nicely with new stuff.
John Williams is the greatest movie composer in history. I know most people think Star wars was his best, but I think the Superman theme is the best
@dislike injustice I feel sorry for you.
Brandon.routh también hubiera sido un mejor
Superman pero hizo lo
mejor que pudo
@@thomasfleig1184 indeed Superman theme is a classic!
This has so much more emotion with the original John Williams score. Love it and thanks for doing this.
Because of this I rewatched the whole film and I can say with conviction that the musical score made a whole lot of difference to this one scene.
Love the musical score when he finally stops it... Then the action reaction force effect causes the plane to vibrate... Then he gently let's it dwn... That beat is glorious!!!!!?
A prime example of how editing and the proper music cues are very* important. Modern films have lost sight of this fact.
I cannot imagine a superhero world without him.
You mean her/cake/pufter.
William's score brings the awesomeness in that scene! Goosebumps all over.. Good job, thank you!
Brandon Routh did an excellent job !!! I love superman returns, his superman is in my heart .. Christophere Reeve and Brandon Routh are my favorite superman ❤❤
for me brandon routh really fits to superman. his charisma was there. its just so sad that critics hadnt see it right
I loved both Brandon and Kate as Clark/Superman and Lois in this movie. I thought they were both fantastic. I'm so disappointed that they never made a sequel with this cast.
100% agreed! Such a waste of talent and possibilities. Never could bring myself to see MoS.
I still believe Brandon Routh is the best modern day Superman!
Mark Metzler agreed. I feel that he captured the nerdiness of Kent, and the essence of Superman. Second only to Christopher Reeves.
Mark Metzler reeve is the tire Superman
Totally agree.
he looked the part
That’s very true I actually like him better than the superman that they have now and even changed his outfit but the best of all time of course is Christopher reeve I’m sure everyone can agree on that but the modern day superman should have been continued by Brandon Routh I was so upset when they got this other guy he really doesn’t fit the superman look I think they just went with him because he’s a big boy
He is the only one who can play that role next to Christopher Reeve! Give him that role again! He deserves to be SUPERMAN!❤
Eis Sirf Onaamid Thankfully he is reprising the Superman role for CW’s Supergirl Show for an episode or two this month :D
@@skylertrapa Really? I'll have to check that out!
Moral of the Story: Always hang out with Lois Lane, for that emergency get out of jail free card.
Great reply!!
or a near death experience.
On the other hand, if you don't hang out with her, you're way less likely to get into an emergency in the first place.
Brandon's look and costume reminds me so much of Christopher Reeves portrayal. This was very well edited video! Thanks for sharing.
Reeve, not Reeves.
also the voice,,, inside the plane scene
I was thinking🤔...
If Supes can run *faster* than the eye can see, then why would he run down a darkened alley to change into his supersuit?😕
I don't understand why it wasn't a hit ! I loved the way it played like a sequel to the original first four movies! It deserved a sequel to!!
Loved it, loved it, loved it ... Well Done ... Christopher Reeve in my opinion was and will always be the best Superman ...
🇬🇧🙋🏾♀️Yes 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾I got chills when he said "statistically flying is the safest way to travel" Rip Christopher 😢
Gotta say when Superman leaped into the air and saved the plane, I got excited and teary eyed. It's that music I swear. R.I.P. Christopher Reeves.
Reeve, it's Reeve, not Reeves.
Brandon rough is the strongest Superman we’ve seen in a movie. He’s also my favorite Superman of all time. He embedded the character better than anyone in my opinion. This movie is just phenomenal
Awesome movie!! Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. 👍
This is one of my most favorite Superman scenes in any movie. I wish I could see more of THIS!!!
the music score was brilliant made the scene .
z
michaelstarwars66 , from the original Superman, 1978.
It's John Williams.. pure class...
God I still love that music.
It is amazing how just the sound track could of fixed so much wrong with that movie.
I watched this and aside from the blurriness I thought to myself, "isn't this originally how it was? What was changed?" After reading the description all I can say is this edit is perfect. Spot on.
I never get bored watching the Superman movie.
The Superman March gives me the chills..where are you Superman we need you now!
I don't say the word hero very often, but you are the greatest hero in American history.
Peter Brazier Woo-Hoo!
Ο?Κ?
The only scene that works in this movie!! Spectacular👍🏽👍🏽
This version was truly very good..
Brandon routh was really good actor.. great emotional.. this version of Superman franchise is the best
Actually out of all the movies I have to say Superman 2 and man of steel or the best in my opinion
the superman 5 we needed
Really an intense scene. I loved it. Brandon's Superman is my second favourite.. Chris Reeve is first of course, but this movie suxed, but Brandon Superman, his acting the Powers were brilliant. I just wish it had better casting around Brandon and a better storyline.
There's plenty of "Superman Returns" scenes that should have been remade, but the plane rescue sequence is not among them.
The SR plane rescue sequence is still by far the best action sequence in any Superman movie.
Absolutely.
Totally right
Aaw man!!! The chills when that music came on and he hit the sonic boom!!!!!!
The Best Superman since Christopher Reeve!
he looks a lot like him.
+Nick white honestly i love brandon better than henry.. brandon looks so close to christopher
I agree
Betul
Even though I'm marvel...... these Superman movies were alright...and quest for peace
I really liked the movie superman returns and Brandon routh I liked him as superman he showed in the movie superman cared about the people and the planet well done to Brandon routh well done to John Williams for his movie when you here the superman music you get a lump in the throat ❤
If the used this music in the new movie people would lose their minds in joy
my favorite Superman and Superman movie
This is still my favorite action sequence, it has everything.
Our need for supermen, has become even more urgent.
It's really the difference in passion, I think the fan edits show off how people really feel about Superman more than the movie did
The music is simply awesome!!. It changes a lo the movie! Great job!
Brandon Routh was a great Super Man, what sucked for this was the movie plot.
The costume could have been better too. Looks too much like a Superboy costume rather than a Superman costume.
@@certainly2509 I agree to disagree.
@@mekrabj2901 It's actually not a bad costume. I wish the S emblem was larger and the maroon color was a brighter red and I think it would've been great.
Routh would have been a great Superman if he hadn't been saddled with the awfully bad plot this movie had.
I think what didn't help also was Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. She has all the charisma of a floor mop :\
I can't even imagine Indiana Jones or Star Wars without John Williams.
Hearing that music, I really really miss Mr Reeve's Superman. RIP, my man and thank you !
Wow. What a huge improvement. Thank you for creating this!
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Christopher Reeves the best ever!! miss you man!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
El mejor de todos los tiempo s
so much better with that original score!! Omg
John Williams' music TOTALLY saves this scene from being a load of toss! Such a legend.
I love that I can watch it 1000 times and never get tired of it
This is the best 👌 of superman, ever.❤
I love THIS scene. The rest of the movie was the problem. Great actors, great production, alful script.
I agree, the lamest climax in Superhero history....
Way better than the original, music makes a huge difference.
Perfect! , just perfect!.
Not the best Superman movie, but one of the best Superman moments.
Brandon Routh is one of my favorite. Very handsome
Nice job. I was hoping for a sequel with Brandon Routh
You put the music in just the right areas, well done!.
Rebecca Labs Thank you!
A scene like this would have made the movie better. Thanks for a job well done.
Superman bringing the airplane down in the baseball stadium is one of my all time favorite movie scenes.
There’s something about the original theme song that a superman movie can’t do without. When I hear those trumpets my heart pounds harder, my chest swells, I sit up straight and I’m ready to take on the world!
I totally agree. The Henry Cavill Superman theme was lacklustre in my opinion. It would have been better if they got the John Williams theme.
