I'm SOOOOO glad that Buckethead doesn't charge for his songs by the note! Dude is a master shredder...but how about those melodies?! The Buckethead rabbit hole is as deep as it is wide. He only has like 329 of his own albums... probably 330 by the time you read this. No cap.
Welcome! There are many ways to travel through Bucketheadland. You might run, walk or crawl through the paths, trails, tunnels, tombs, bushes, woods, alleys, streets and ditches. You may travel in a spiral. Someone choose to wander, stumble, roll, ramble or rampage. It's harder when you're gagged, hogged, tied, blindfolded or blinded...But how often could that happen?
5:21 Yep, his trademark. KFC, sometimes in live videos he has an unbranded one. Also constantly wears a mask and again in some videos he wears a darker face shield over that. 1st time I saw that, I said "The MF'er is playing blind". He also has no markers on his fretboard which is used for locations. Big B is just that awesome 👌!!!
Lol, slight understatement on "he actually wears a bucket!" Bucket has been playing with a bucket and mask for over 30 years! Despite playing with Primus, Praxis, Guns n Roses, and doing national and worldwide tours, literally 3 photos of the man exist unmasked, and they all appear to be when he was 20 or younger. He wears it in the studio, he wears it to meetings. He literally upset Ozzy Osbourne because he wouldn't remove the mask. He would at times speak almost entirely through a hand puppet, even to lawyers and managers. And yet, despite seeming to be certifiably insane, he's never (that anyone has ever found) been arrested, and he doesn't drink, do drugs, or even swear. He's one of the most interesting people that we effectively know nothing about.
@@Dr.RichtofensWeihnacht that story has like 3 or 4 versions. In at least one, it's not even his idea and more of a prank. It sounds like he definitely had his own little private booth or area with a bunch of his toys and trinkets. Personally, and this is just a hunch/vibe, but I think his antics in GnR can be explained by him being this experimental in-the-moment artist who signed on to a band where he was expected to play the exact same thing over and over and everything took forever to produce. I think the simple answer is he got really bored and then frustrated with the whole thing.
@@Conformist138 yeah i can imagine that. I heard like he was watching porn in his chicken coop but that doesnt sound like him at all not that i would know him.
@@Dr.RichtofensWeihnacht Agreed. Only one person ever made that claim, and no one ever backed it up. Some stories just sound more or less true than others, which is all we can really go on.
Buckethead has worked with one of the legends of funk several times, the inimitable Bootsy Collins of Parliament /Funkadelic. Buckethead has a crazy career and over three hundred albums he calls Pikes. There are even websites out there to determine what of his stuff to listen to by filtering by feel, emotion, and other variables.
Most prolific musician of our generation. A legit musical genius. Not only does he have 400+ albums of original material, so much of it is magnificent. Nottingham Lace is good, but I wouldn't put it in my top 50 Buckethead tracks. It would be well worth your time to explore deeper. The guy is just insanely good.
He's a totally different guitarist but you should really check out the father of instrumental guitar, Joe Satriani. He's still cranking out fantastic music on his 18th studio album just released, The Elephants of Mars. Check out the live version of "Made of Tears"!
PLEASE do yourself a favor and watch some of his live performances. Jordan, Gory Head Stump (in San Diego) - Soothsayer. Then jump into his over 300+ albums and have your life changed.
Gory Head Stump (in San Diego) is my favorite of all his live performances I've seen so far. Buckethead changed my music-listening life a year ago when I stumbled onto him. Almost never listen to any other music since then.
Buckethead - Soothsayer
You need to check out his live videos 😉
