There's so much going on in these episodes - Ena's tears, Hilda's beautifully done words about people's names, then her hilarious knowledge of WW2 planes, Annie being cut down by an American, Lucille's unfortunate last ever words with her father, and more and more. Simply brilliant.
Steve was a dish, funny when Elsie threw the bouquet at Ena. Touching moment when Elsie came downstairs in her wedding outfit and Denis said, 'mam, you're beautiful". Lovely to see Linda again, swinging in her mini, and finally, poor Harry.
The American actor is actually played by a Canadian. Good job with the Yank accent! He also was a voice actor on Thunderbirds...hence, David's remark about being out of the flippin' Thunderbirds.
Twiggy made the short look very popular back in the 60's. In many ways, it was a reversal of trends. Girls started wearing their hair shorter whilst guys grew their hair longer.
Wot time do you water this Brilliant Ena!!!!Make mine a milk stout!!!I think Elsie and Len should have made it.Wonder wot the class of 2020 make of this they wont come close.Brilliant stuff indeed.
Poor Harry. Knowing that Ivan Beavis requested that his character die, I thought it was brilliant how his death was worked into the joyous occasion of Elsie getting married. Poor Lucille--words that will haunt her forever.
Thank you for uploading these two episodes of Elsie Tanner's marriage to Steve. There is a character in Emmerdale called Rodney who is a male version of Elsie Tanner. Rodney has a daughter called Nicola who is a bit of a troublemaker. In the first two or three years that Coronation Street was shown Elsie's son Dennis was just as bad as Nicola Blackstock. Now that forms some pattern.
Ironic David Barlow saying the GI's look like puppets out of Thunderbirds. Of course later on, an actor, who voiced Scott Tracy, Shane Rimmer played Joe Donnelli, who killed Steve Tanner appeared. He also played the father of Stephen Roberts, Audreys son in 1988.
Edna Sharples and Minnie Caldwell are almost the female version of Laurel and Hardy, where Edna Sharples is the female Oliver Hardy and Minnie Caldwell is the female Stan Laurel.
I googled some past characters ( Frank and Ida, Martha, Christine...) who only ever appeared in black and white, to try and imagine how they’d’ ve looked in colour.
- There really is no reason to bring back Lucille to the Street. Anyone she had a significant connection to has long since left the cobbles. Only Ken would know her. Nobody else would (or moreover care who she was). I've generally never been a fan of bringing back former characters for the sake of seeing them again. For me, the writers have to have a compelling reason to re-include them back into the fold. Lucille's time has well and truly past.......
have you ever tried smoking 2 at at time lad! only thing you can do is appeal against the light!!! Fantastic script!!! make todays crap look really chavy!!!Bloody fantastic
If Edna Sharples was sending a message she would say "Elsie a Golden Wedding is 50 years not five years knowing the faith Edna Sharples has placed in Elsie Tanner.
36:15 - love how Hilda leaves the two Yanks dumbfounded by her astonishingly well-remembered and highly specific expert knowledge wingspan, bomb-load etc of the Lancashire Bomber and its 'rival' US airplanes - hahahaha brilliant - their faces!! Hilda and Brenda Hinchcliffe must have been superb on the manufacturing lines in the airplane factory ... packing the ball-bearings ...
Unbelievably brilliant - perfect television in every way.
The second episode (possibly the first too) was written by Sarah Lancashire's father.

I love Coronation Street!
... and just a little bit of casual anti-Semitism at 41:51 just to top it all off!
But Lucille did know immediately that she had forsaken her Dad's love for her, was a tidy piece of scriptwriting.
@@Kidraver555 Hi, indeed - she probably thought she'd make things up with him after the wedding party, but of course never could.
I am from Boston. I wish they could have had some episodes with Elsie here. She is my favourite character on the show.
Stephen Bendavid no

He was a relation to my ex partner’s mother
Lucille looks really beautiful with short black hair. Some girls don’t but that style fits her great.

@@woohooboy okay 👍
Love it.. love it ALL THANK YOU SO MUCH XO

It's Ernest taking the wedding photos. Emily's future husband. Terrific episodes, I loved the wedding.
Poor Harry. Knowing that Ivan Beavis requested that his character die, I thought it was brilliant how his death was worked into the joyous occasion of Elsie getting married. Poor Lucille--words that will haunt her forever.
The first appearence of Ernest Bishop.
Ty so much for uploading these episodes great fan from nz 💓

Also, Paul Maxwell voiced three guest characters in Thunderbirds. He was also Steve Zodiac in Fireball XL5.

It's not difficult to write 'Ena' 😂
10:51 Ms Nugent, I absolutely love the big hat from Mr. Platt. You would turn heads at the Kentucky Derby 🐎🇺🇲
What a beautiful wedding.
It's always 1916 with Emily, isn't it?
No pal, this one comes out top to bottom 😂😂😂😂😂
Interesting that they mentioned a telegram from Winnipeg, Canada. That happens to be where Paul Maxwell (Steve Tanner) was born.
36:17 That told the Yanks Hilda!!!
Pity this wasn't in colour- Elsie was fabulous looking and her outfit sublime.
I googled some past characters ( Frank and Ida, Martha, Christine...) who only ever appeared in black and white, to try and imagine how they’d’ ve looked in colour.
@@alexanderjones9572 Not necessarily, just google colour pictures. There is quite a a few of the wedding available online.
Dennis is so camp. Lol!
Dennis is a delight. He's becoming one of my favorite characters.
Wonderful memories.
If Lucille was 18 then-she’d be nearly 70 now! Could come back ( Ok, Jennifer Moss is dead, but another actress could surely play Lucille now!)

Who's more nervous, the best man or the groom? LOL
Thanks for uploading this one, been looking for it for ages!
Do you happen to have the episode shown on 24th January 1968 at all?
Patrick Stratford the episode where the mission of glad tidings was demolished
Elsie is a stinningly beautiful woman.
10/10
Why did Elsie take offence when hearing the telegram from Florrie Lindsay in Canada?
To bad that this show was put together like this one. Two episodes!!
48:25
Harry Hewitt: AAARGH
Car: crushes him
Harry Hewitt: dead
where;s Irma Barlow 🤔🤔🤔 Poor Harry
Yeah where’s his first wife?
have you ever tried smoking 2 at at time lad! only thing you can do is appeal against the light!!! Fantastic script!!! make todays crap look really chavy!!!Bloody fantastic
So Harry’s dead-but, according to a book I read ( Coronation Street-Round the Houses) Lucille’s father may NOT be!
Ernie Bishop!
Does anyone know why Irma wasn’t at the wedding?
24:41 Coronation Street End Of Part One.
If Edna Sharples was sending a message she would say "Elsie a Golden Wedding is 50 years not five years knowing the faith Edna Sharples has placed in Elsie Tanner.
29:09 Hetty Wainthrop's husband.
Is Emily going to Ascot lol
34:55 Coronation Street End Of Two.
£2 from murder city to Warrington cheap at twice the price!!!!1967!!!
Lindsaypeter Holden I have family in Warrington and can’t believe anyone would travel there by Choice 🤷♀️😹
Can someone please explain the House of Lords karsey reference?
Gents toilets.
@@annoldham3018 I know its the loo, but why House of Lords? Btw arent you on the CCS quotations group on fb ? Im sylvia berry over there x
@@rebeccahayes1007 It was probably just Stan’s expression for the gents toilets. Like in a later episode, Vera says about Jack being on ‘the throne’.
Ref, to toilet, on the throne comes from, royal Dalton
It's A Chamber for Peers. (i.e. "Peer" is another word for a Lord, AND someone who ... pees).
