So lovely to tune in and see all my favourite characters from the Golden days of Corrie. Takes me back to a more contented and happy time in my life, when all my loved ones were still here.
Not just the Golden age of Corrie - It was also the Golden age of life - we were so lucky to have experienced it - The world ,life, and people in general were so much more simpler and nicer
The scenes with the Ogdens in that hotel were magical and some fine acting from the both of them. I wish my mum was still here as she would be amazed she could see this again on the internet. As I previously commented I never watch soaps but I found these one day on YT and have been captivated ever since. I know it might sound daft to say this but I feel she is still here when I watch them. Thank you so very much.
I wish we would have had this available in the United States growing up. I just discovered Coronation Street last year and I am hooked! Thank God for RUclips and Britbox!

ProfessionalGun 66. Thankyou so much for posting these wonderful episodes of Corrie. I've spent all afternoon watching and enjoying. I was only 8 when these were first shown and they bring back fond memories 😊
Might the Ogden's room service chap be the first friend of Dotty on the street? Pairing him with Hilda is just perfect, "I went to the Caribbean on a cruise, a working holiday you know", very funny ;-).
It is hard to watch whenever Deidre walks out of the house and leaves Tracy screaming her head off. It is because Deidre has a bit of a breakdown after being assaulted under the viaduct a month or so before.
She’s very cute tho! 🙂 I wear my ear phones too & it’s the eating gum & foods that’s disgusting 🤮 (I fast forward in the 1980s episodes with Kevin eating it’s soooo bad & the mucus sounds when Ivy talks!) it’s also bad when the washings getting hung out with the wooden pegs! You can quite often hear background noise like walking & talking that you can’t hear at all watching it without ear phones! 🙂
Thanks Professional Gun (and your mate Eddie Y ;o) ) for serving these trips down memory lane to the days when Corrie was down to earth, funny and realistic.
The classic episodes featuring the Ogdens' second honeymoon are things TV Gold is made of. Hilda for the first time in her life finding herself living the life of luxury and being pampered at the same time whlst Stan on the other hand is more concerned about drinking the mini bar dry and reflecting on who's in the Rovers. Derek Francis as Cousin Charles is just great. I could go on with my love for 1970s Corrie but I'll finish by saying, "Woman Stanley, Woman!" Classic Corrie, I'm in heaven!
I didn't mind her character & she could be funny. But after seeing her on Big Brother, I can't stand her. It was very enlightening & she didn't come off well at all.
Even Annie Walker made a gramatic mistake.... 20:50 "Cissie and I" she said when it should have been "Cissie and me"......Just goes to show these old Corrie writers knew continuity......ie Annie was common in the early years....
Nice to see Hilda having a taste of luxury rather than drudgery for a change. It's a pity Stan wasn't able to fully enjoy the experience, he was more concerned with what wasn't available to him - beer - rather than what was. Such as champagne, decent wine and a choice of well-prepared food brought to him, rather than a trip to Jackson's chippy. Poor Hilda had her work cut trying to encourage him to make the most of their prize. Brilliant episode.
Not everybody wants to be a champagne person, or even a fancy food person. Not everybody wants or needs to try & elevate their stature, as you imply. They're happy as they are.
@@gaysy1st Some people are happy as they are, they don't want any more, but Hilda did want more and she wanted Stan to want more too. Obviously, she loved him, they were devoted to one another despite their bickering, Stan's complaints and her sharp, critical tongue. She might not have wanted champagne and haute cuisine every day, but she wanted it for one day. She wanted to feel special and have someone else to attend to her the way she did to others every day. Like the time she won Mike Baldwin in a raffle, he took her to a good quality Italian restaurant and she enjoyed the feeling that she mattered. If Hilda was happy the way she and Stan lived, with too little money, security and comfort, these storylines would make less impact.
Those were the days great scripts. Fantastic characters played by brilliant actors unlike today's depressing coronation street with its dull and boring characters..
These episodes are comedy gold! Derek having a sneaky peek 🫣 at the copy of KNAVE magazine lying on the Kabins counter whilst Mavis nips to get her coat, the stacks of Mayfair etc on the spinning magazine rack in reach & eyesight of the paperboys! Bet is hilarious too! ♥️
Wonderful and true entertainment. Was much more down to earth and to be honest more realistic when it came to people and their everyday life. The story lines of today are too over the top, you don't see them struggling to pay the bills or put food on the table. The homes are like show homes, you never see them scrimping or saving to buy something for the house. Loved Hilda and Stan ❤️

The scene, beginning at 33:39, is absolutely hilarious especially when Fred says "YOU CAN STICK YOUR FLAMING FAMILY AND YOUR PUB" 😂😂 Although I don't blame him, Mike was being so rude to him. Thank you for sharing this
Hearing the baby scream like that is horrendous. That is real, proper distress and it's not right, putting the little one through that for a storyline.
I don't think they just put the baby through it. Some babies are just naturally like that. 30 years later, I had a cousin of the same age who was just screaming constantly when he was awake, for at least his first year or so. It was purely, attention seeking behaviour, because he always stopped if he was picked up, cuddled, fed or just generally given attention. I also remembered his sister 12 years or so before, just sitting up against cushions, either very quiet or very happy or both. She'd sit there in her pram, going ayayayayayay. I guess it was her first word when she was around 8 months old.
Hilda and Stan were fantastic actors in coronation street, but I couldn’t live next door to them with Hilda’s shouting at Stan i would be banging on the wall lol 😂 I also liked elsie tanner she was so glamorous and smart thanks 🙏 for sharing 😊😊
Good to see Emily on point. After all, who would ever think of looking in the Rovers for Coronation Street residents? Surely the last place to find Ray.L.👯👯👯(Bet Lynch style sarcasm)🤭
I remember watching it originally and nothing was explained to me. That was the times I think, kids weren't treated like balls of cotton wool. I remember just thinking she's been attacked by a "one of those perverts." A life lesson.
My earliest memories of Emily are when she was/seemed pretty old and one of a quivering nervous wreck of an old woman. Watching these it would appear to be a result of being married to that weed of a bully. There seems to be a distinct lack of sensitivity or emotion amongst most of the men actually. Surely husbands like Ernest, Ray, Len and Stan weren't typical? It's the late 1970's not the cave dwelling days. If it weren't for that void-of-any-empathy Suzie outscumbagging them all in one sitting I'd believe there was an agenda 😂

Deidre saying to Emily real life is perverts hanging around in back alleys, as Stan and Hilda set off. Not much later Stan get dragged in for being a peeping Tom
Ernest is a very unlikeable character on the whole, a quick temper and very judgemental. I'm not too sure about him being a lay preacher, he seems very intolerant.
He strikes me as being a fairly reasonable semi professional musician and exceptional pianist. It’s a shame we didn't get to hear very much of that before Emily came in with baby Tracey and insisted he stopped. Might have chilled Tracey out, the soleful piano music. Nobody plays music to their kids any more, especially when trying to soothe them to sleep. My mum always wound up a music box mobile or comforter next to me, from birth, because she knew that was the magic which would get me off to sleep.
Jean Alexander was brilliant. The faces she pulls, all the little nuances of the character, she really was a good actress.

Every time Ken Barlow opens his mouth he's a total bore. His long-winded manner in all things is so irritating.
Which is why he's been the longest-running actor in TV history of course : )
Everything he says is like a royal proclamation. Even the way he talked to his son was like an announcement.
He's so pompous.
Was Deiirdre ever happy at any time thru whole series. She was always having a fit of crying.See Treacy takes after her.
