    I've never had a bag lost by an airline, but I have on a coach, back before I became a full time traveler. They put it on the wrong bus to the other side of the country. It took a week to get it back, with a bunch of stuff broken, leaking and missing from it. Now, I use a tiny 34-liter bag, so I can always keep it with me. Good tips! Cheers! ☺

    And if you have expensive engagement ring/wedding ring...leave it at home and buy cheap bands. My husband and I were camping a few years ago in Austria and his wedding band came off in the shower and went into the drain! Fortunately, we recovered it as it was still there that evening (after we realised it was missing), but his band was only about £40, so if it really was gone it wouldn't have been awful. Now we don't wear our rings when we shower and if we're travelling someplace with a shared bathroom, I will put all our rings on a chain around my neck in the shower.

    About the phone thing, when I went to Brazil I always carried a crappy phone with me. Like a flip phone. I never got asked for it but in case that were to happen, I would show them that and say it's my traveling phone. Definitely a valuable tip

    I don't know about other countries, but here in the US, it is very possible to lose your luggage on a bus. Especially if you're switching buses along the way. And when you do, eventually, get it back, it might be missing a few items if it's not locked. It's happened to me, and lots of other people I've talked to. Now I always watch to make sure my luggage is getting on the right bus.

    This guy didn't understand that money belts are not supposed to be a replacement for a wallet. The belts are used to keep higher amounts (or all of it you've brought with you) of paper money hidden. If you know you're going to need money for the day, you either take it from the belt in the hotel room you're staying at or a public toilet.

    P..s. if you're married and u decided to wear your ring I'm gona give u some good advice... DO NOT TAKE YOUR RING OFF! Not to wash your hands not to put lotion on not unless your being held at gunpoint and you don't want to die. When i was married I never took my ring off I just cleaned it regularly and guess what I never lost my ring. I also never took it on vacation. I left it with a responsible & trusted family member.

    Great tips pal. I forgot my padlock when I went to Iceland, luckily the hostel rented padlocks to you too but it cost!

      How was Iceland, expensive but mostly for scenery / nature? I've considered visiting somewhere like Iceland or Greenland but I hear it's very expensive so I've been prioritising other places first

    Two things we learnt were to have common sense and don't be an easy target. We also invested in a numinous backpack which is made from Kevlar (so anti-slash proof) and comes with a wire which allows you to tie your bag to places. This made us feel a lot more relaxed about leaving our bag around. Thanks Scott some great tips! Yas

    If you want to go travelling you should be doing it for yourself, to see and experience new different stuff. It's not a fashion parade or somewhere to show off what you've got. As Scotty says, leave expensive items at home. The travellers that notice you've expensive stuff are people that want to take them from you, and everyone that counts doesn't care.

    I got Robbed outside of our hotel Lan Lan2 now Alagon Zen hotel in District 1 in Saigon and staff took our luggage outside onto the street without our consent and Knowledge and when we were going back to Australia there's a gang targeting hotels early in the morning when you leave your hotel

    can you please do a video on respecting culture. yesterday 2 men just ripped down 4 Thai flags. it's basically a death sentence in jail. worst off its being assumed there visiting tourist. This makes us all look bad. plus respecting the culture your visiting is pivotal in good travel. This is a big deal and the Thai inmates aren't going to show much mercy in jail. The Thai people are still in morning over there king. Thanks

      bolt cutters or certain saws can cut through a padlock. a locksmith can help you with this. I put my padlock key on my shoelaces on 2nd or 3rd row or wear as a necklace

    Hi Scottie, Maybe less travelling, more time on spelling. "Traveling," is spelled with one "L."
    Just busting on ya dude, enjoyed the vlog. Your sincerity is genuine and appreciated. 😁

    • @patriciaAmurray
      @patriciaAmurray 7 лет назад +8

      Mark Hayes Did you notice his accent? And did you realize that the British spelling has two "L"s? It's always embarrassing when the unsophisticated try to correct others--they have No clue.
