Great tips! Not a lot of people know this yet but you have an iPhone 11, XR or XS, you will have the eSIM feature. That means you can load data from all over the world virtually. No need to mess with physical SIM cards. You can keep your number back home with your physical SIM cards. Try Airalo.com. they have wide coverage and as cheap or cheaper than local rates.
If your normal phone company wont let you unlock your phone, check gumtree/craigs list etc for someones old already unlocked phone - also means if you lose it you only lost a few bucks. Most of the time they want ID because pre-paid is still technically a contract, they often also want an address so make sure you take the address of where you are staying.
in Japan you need at least 6 months to unlock your phone... more 20 days for me!! yessss! I don't know if you can find prepaid SIM cards in phone company's in Japan, but you can find it in big computer shops like Good Will..
The new intro is awesome, great work!! Also this video is awesome too, really good information!! I never did get a sim card either time I was in Thailand, although my friends and I did talk about doing so. It would have been nice a few times just to be able to do separate things sometimes, or if we'd gotten split up from one another. Thanks again for another great vlog Scott!!
hey Scotty, welcome to Malaysia. Do try out our Malaysian local burgers called Ramli's. There is one very popular one in Damansara Uptown called Burger John. It starts around 10pm till late. Trust me, its a burger you'll never taste anywhere around the world. Being an avid traveler myself, its that burger that always reminds me that Malaysia is my home. Anyways have fun guys!
was looking at an galaxy note 9, a uk version one .... if i get it unlocked will it be unlocked for uk only sims or internationally unlocked ?????? i need a duel sim note 9 wich i can put both uk sim and philippines sim
It's the same. You will need your passport to get a SIM in Thailand. I buy the biggest plan from AIS there, it's about $27 USD/month for 12GB data. You can get much smaller plan for less as well if you only plan to stay a short time or don't use much data.

Don't remember having to provide my Aussie passport then connecting to 3 network in 2013. Their service was really good.
