    My favorite event ever in comics. Once you accept that it will take multiple reads to get everything, and even then you may not get everything, it's the most incredible rollercoaster journey. It's the ultimate tribute to the power and hope superheroes can give us.

    There's been nothing like it since, the most ambitious event ever.

    Final crisis is a interesting story confusing but a very interesting event as a whole.

    I bought and read this for the first time recently.
    Loved the three Batman Morrison omnibuses but Final crisis not so much...
    Obviously it's huge and dense and requires multiple readings but I'm going to give it six months before I dive in again.
    Far too many characters for me. Few I cared for.

    Final Crisis was the first big event I read from DC and oh boy I did not understand a single page from it...Really makes you think that one needs to read every single DC comic prior to this event.Planning on giving it an another chance

    I have a weird relationship with Final Crisis...hated the series as it was coming out despite being a life long DC fan, but was then gifted the original hardcover collection you mentioned ..And loved it upon the second reading...And re-read to this date at least once s year...definelty a love hate thing though as I never recommend it to someone just starting to read comics lol. That book is massive and yeah I'd break it up into smaller custom binds lol.

    I read this in singles as it slowly came out. I wasn`t quite sure what I read but enjoyed it none the less. I wished J.G. Jones had drawn it all but those who assisted him equally good. The George Perez legion of 3 Worlds was quite good also. Other than bringing Barry back I don`t think it accomplished that much but it was entertaining.

    I'm interested because of all the side stuff. I read the trade for final crisis. I don't remember it making much sense but I was really fresh getting into the dc universe at the time. I wouldn't mind getting the full experience this time

    Hey, Mike. You know I'm not into superhero comics(w/a few exceptions), & have never been a big fan of crossover epic event books. I haven't read a DC book since the New 52, lol, & didn't read that much of the DC universe before that(again, w/a few exceptions), so this complicated tome would not be my bag. But I enjoyed your video! Thanx, bro! I hope you guys & your fams are staying healthy & safe.😊👍🏻👍🏻❤

    The two-issue Superman story was Superman Beyond (IIRC) and is in 3-D in the Absolute.

  • @atomichound1868
    @atomichound1868 2 года назад

    I thought it was convoluted at the time; since, I have come to better understand there was a breakdown in time and space that would be extremely confusing if they actually happened. The part I’ve never been able to reconcile is the Death of the New Gods and how that ties in, if at all. Perhaps a different multiverse? Nice video!

    • @daddy_1453
      @daddy_1453 Месяц назад

      Apparently not. The new gods don't have multiverse versions of themselves. So if 1 dies, that's it

    Between the three real crisis, it's the worst, but not exactly bad.
    Crisis On Infinite Earths is the best and most important, Infinite Crisis is the more fun to read with all that happens, best tie-ins... and Final Crisis is just ok.
    But the real worst crisis is Death Metal 😆

    I collect Absolute editions this is just one event that I couldn’t bring myself to buy, the story just didn’t do it for me at all. Perhaps the omnibus would be better as the main story gets broken up by the tie-ins.

    • @DarthOmega
      @DarthOmega 4 месяца назад

      Don’t you mean the main story gets broken up by the tie-ins in the omnibus and that’s why you would want to get the Absolute edition which includes only the essential tie-ins that contribute towards the main event? I think that is what you meant because what you are describing about the Absolute edition is actually what would happen in the omnibus.

    I'd like to see it reprinted in two books as you have suggested.

  • @FadeToBlackBolt

    In my opinion it's the best event ever and one of the best comics ever.
    But you need to put in the work. If you just want a quick, easy read with lots of characters and big stakes (and nothing wrong eith that), then you'll hate it. It reminds me a lot of Ulysses by James Joyce in that way.
    People often go into it wanting Star Wars but they get 2001: A Space Odyssey.

    Is it better (for a Batman fan) to just pick up the single event as a standalone story? I’m not interested in stories disconnected from Final Crisis, but I still want to understand the event and not be super confused

    • @skyyswaggstudios2934
      @skyyswaggstudios2934 Год назад

      Its fine as a standalone story, it was my first crisis book (the trade that collects the core event). Honestly tho, if youre reading morrison batman you really only need the batman tie in, you dont really need to read the whole event for context

      @@skyyswaggstudios2934 yeah I’ve read all of Morrison’s work except for Incorporated (my copy of the omnibus will arrive soon) and I love his work with all my heart! So I’m aware that it doesn’t need Final Crisis. But lately I’ve been interested in reading it and want to know the best way to read it without getting super confused. Thanks!

    • @daddy_1453

      Blackest Night occurs after Final Crisis. It involves dead characters returning to life as zombies. Some of those dead characters include fatalities from Final Crisis

    I hate that story, so much happens "off camera" is like watching a game, but only from the locker room, with a radio in other lenguage (you know something important is going on, but you don't know what). Hate it.

      Same for Morrison’s Green Lantern. Like reading the cliff notes of what could be a great story, but somebody tore some of the cliff notes pages out.

    Grant Morrison is too much of a complicated writer. I also couldn't get into his Batman Run (I mean I finished it. It had some good arcs and ideas like Batman Inc. But overall, wasn't for me. Prefer Dinis or Loebs Batman runs).
