What a beautiful beast. I'm often alienated by huge events because they're scattered across several stray volumes and one-shots so collecting it into this brick appeals to me greatly. I think they did similar with Infinite Crisis.

I don't mind black cover. DJ is absolutely stunning and I'm glad for all the collected material in one place.
I realized I basically own an absolute version (in spanish) after watching this video, hardcover as well, and I think I'm happy with it. I wish DC did a reprint of the absolute edition and maybe passed it off as Deluxe or such, the Omni is very nice but that matte black cover is so uncool.
Can´t wait to read the whole event in it´s entirety for the first time. Love the main event but to read the extended story has always been a wish of mine. Great fotage as usual and great inspiration!

Thia looks absolutely insane! I've got it preordered. Previously, I've only read Batman R.I.P. and the first Final Crisis hardcover, so it will be nice to finally get to fill in all the blanks. Suffice it to say, I was left a bit confused on my first read through. :P

I just got the reprint of this book and am rly pleased with it except I’m kinda worried coz I noticed that at the tip of the ribbon it’s slightly detached from the pages. Would you say this is an issue?

This one is a beast I think the New Gods one squeaks it out as biggest DC Omni
I found Grant's Morrison Rubik's Cube main story quite complex and ultimately not as fun as I expected (I will give it a new try). But I enjoyed some of the tie-ins, specially Legion of 3 Worlds, the twists, the characters, it was my first time knowing about some ones like Queen Saturna... every issue was so delightful. Thanks for the insights on this omnibus.
Thank you for profiling this! The black cover under the Dustjacket is annoying and I think RIP does not need to be there but the way the omni is organized is amazing. I wish Marvel would take note of this instead of how they organize their crossover omnis
Thank you so much! I wish I had time to dive into Marvel again so I can see how they do it. I think the RIP the missing chapters definitely needs to be there but you need to read RIP to understand how it got there. Possibly it would be unfair to force the reader to buy the Grant Morrison Omnibus so I can see the team adding it in there. I prefer them doing this more than focusing on the extras. We can always buy the Absolute edition if we want all the extras.
Agreed about RIP. I see TDE's point, but it still makes the omni feel a bit less "everything you need" since RIP itself doesn't make much sense without all the Batman issues before it in Grant's run. It's a lose/lose scenario though since The Missing Chapter is essential, so I guess more is better.
I have this omnibus but I found out that they will release an 'new edition omnibus' in December? What will be the difference then?

Is final crisis in the crisis on infinite earths box set
I’m a relatively new DC/Batman reader... I’ve mostly read Marvel. I just picked up all three Morrison Omni’s... I’m wondering, would you recommend this omnibus or just pick up the trades so I get the story for Morrison’s Batman run?
Final Crisis is hard to get into as a new DC reader but you shouldn't have any problems with the Batman Morrison run even with the Final Crisis Tie-ins. Sounds like we are the opposite now as I have been catching up with Marvel (mostly x-titles) only.
I read LEGION OF THREE WORLDS and it seemed to stand up as a standalone story. Can you explain how it ties into FINAL CRISIS? Thanks, in advance.

Agreed but I am still going to be picking up the Loeb Omni as well as Arkham... Still on my to buy list! Fingers crossed for the next Omnibus which I believe is Red Hood (totally can't wait for that).

@@Daann01 its not a trend though, aside from the golden age to bronze age omnis there is no consistency. George Perez Wonder Woman omni vol 1 had a beautiful cover under the jacket and then 2 and 3 had the black cardboard. Batman and Robin and the Knightfall omnis have art then the Loeb Sale and Arkham ones don't. It is maddening.

Quick question: do you know any international sites with good pricing? InStockTrades seems like the clear #1 place to buy for the North American market. I'm based in the UK and am struggling to find an equivalent with good savings. Hopefully you'll have some tips to share. Thanks!
Thank you! Sorry I don’t know any international sites besides buying from Amazon and IST. I grew up in Australia before moving to the US so I know how expensive this hobby can get. Is there a problem with Amazon UK getting these Omnis? I would think they would be the best and you can easily return any damaged books (even if it takes several attempts to finally get a good copy)
No, they generally have good stock but the saving isn't anywhere close to the ~50% IST offers. Amazon UK generally takes about a third off of the RRP. Other UK comic stores are variable but they always charge more than Amazon. If you factor in currency conversion from British Pounds to US Dollars, sometimes we're paying fairly close to the American retail price, so I get jealous of you lucky IST customers!
Obviously I'd rather support my local stores but the bottom line is that none of them even come close to competing. I'd pay hundreds of pounds more per year if I didn't use Amazon for the biggies - omnibus/absolutes/etc.
Lang7 I always try to support my local comic store first and fortunately I do get an amazing discount. Not IST level in the first week of discounts but the customer service and return policy far beats IST. Like Amazon, I want the guarantee that I can exchange it if I get a badly manufactured copy.
I saw many reading orders to Final Crisis but Is there reading order included every preparing comic books? for example death of a new gods, countdown and other stuff?
I covered my personal reading order in the video to get the most out of Final Crisis but its no way the official route to go by. From what I recall, Morrison didn't like the route Countdown was going and rebelled editorial. Hence we never got the seamless continuation from Countdown.

This was Grant Morrison at his best. He just finished Batman RIP and was just about to start Batman and Robin. These are 2 of Grant Morrison’s best series. I read his Batman run every year or two. It’s just so good. This book here is confusing upon first read. It reminds me of Stanly Kubrick and how he just plants you in a scene without giving any context. You just have to gather what’s happening based on what you are given on the page. But everything is there, you Just have to look closely and read carefully. You definitely can’t breeze through it. Make sure you understand what is being said and how it relates to the scene in front of you. Or else you’ll get lost. But as I said, it is all there. Especially upon 2nd and 3rd read.
Please please do infinite crisis definitely my favorite of all time

Not essential reading but there is an out of print trade called Batman: The Black Casebook which collects stories that inspired Morrison’s RIP arc.

Read Crisis on Infinite Earths before Identity Crisis. Identity Crisis should come directly before Infinite Crisis. I'm looking into reading all of these myself. I've already read Crisis on Infinite Earths, and I hear Identity Crisis has mixed reception so I think I'm jumping into the Infinite Crisis omnibus next.
You also may want to read the 52 omnibus after Infinite Crisis. It's a direct sequel, and the omnibus collects all 52 issues. I'm not 100% sure if that's necessary though.
So wait a minute. I can just get the omnibus and I’ll get all the essential read that I need to to before The Final Crisis ?
Im not a fan of the design on this book & it probably could of been 2 volumes but at least we are getting all the material in collected format

not really necessary aside from knowing 2 major Justice League members died in Final Crisis

From what I’ve seen they both have the same content. I have the non anniversary edition and the binding is way better. You actually have an eye so there’s a lot less gutter loss
I have read Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis, Identity Crisis, and Grant Morrison's Batman. I recently finished the Final Crisis Omnibus and I still feel I was missing some pertinent information.
One of the aspects of reading Grant Morrison runs. I’m sure if you go back, you’ll get more info too.
Confederate Sun in his writing, Morrison tends to assume that you have read everything that he has... and this can be a huge problem if you haven’t. When I first read the series years ago, I had not read any of the surrounding material, and frankly I thought it completely sucked.
Since then, I have managed to read some of the other related stuff, which helps, but I still only consider Final Crisis to be marginal.
Can you read this and enjoy it without having too much knowledge of DC comics? It looks like a really cool event and artwork seems pretty consistent
I think you’ll appreciate it but will end up looking up a lot of things to make sense of parts .

I think they both can be read individually as you are getting it in Omni form. If you only care about Final Crisis and not the other Batman story arcs... then there is no need to read the Batman three volume omnis.

There is actually no content that shows the "War in Heaven" as Morrison intended. DotNG was made outside of his intentions as he originally wanted the New Gods to be left alone for a while before Final Crisis. Instead editorial decided to overuse them in Countdown and brought Jim Starlin in for DotNG which contradicts FC.
The closest thing to a true prelude to FC that ties into the story the best way it can without any continuity issues while revealing things about the New Gods and the War in Heaven is Seven Soldiers; Mister Miracle.

Jesus christ, what a bunch of convoluted mess. This is so ridiculous. I hate these events where it demands so much from the reader to read all these stupid obscure titles. What the fuck is even SEVEN SOLDIERS OF VICTORY, or TERROR OF THE TITANS? I have NEVER seen that shit before and I've been following comics for decades.. and it is required to read for such a popular even that is Final Crisis? What a giant mess.
