But I think you know if it in infinite crisis will be good to get for the omnibus you always have all the story of then the entire event in every single spinoff and every single issue

I read this as soon as I got my hands on that 2nd printing a few years ago. I loved it, my favorite Crisis and one of my favorite "events" too. Can't beat the Jiminez/Perez stuff at the end!
You can absolutely start reading DC here. Maybe read identity crisis first. But Identity Crisis and Infinite Crisis were my introduction and it is EPIC! By far my favorite event

This was one of my favourite times in life to collect comics I was so invested and read all these as single issues but I really enjoyed the whole event.

@@superninjapirate19 I so agree nowadays there isn’t anything going on good at DC so many great characters not being used and hardly any titles that are good except Batman which is pretty much all they publish
@@superninjapirate19 I feel the same way and I never even read comics back in that time, I only started like 3 years ago. And even I'm starting to mainly read pre new 52 era and even a lot of new 52 stuff. I just don't care that much about today's comics, rebirth was decent, but like now I can't even be bothered to keep up.

Infinite Crisis (Kingdom Come is my fave all time/Crisis on Infinite Earths is top 10) is why I’m DC>Marvel ever so slightly all-time. Get the chills thinking about this story. I wish DC would reboot now cause man, it’s disappointing. Lol. Right now Marvel is kicking their @$$ and as a DC fanboy it makes me sad. Thanks for the reminder of this great story!
Here in Canada the omnibus is like $195.00 that’s what has been holding me back from getting it. I loved all the miniseries and everything that tied into it especially the interaction between the trinity.
Just got Absolute Infinite Crisis this weekend since I ordered omnibus only to be advised not available for a month figured I relent and collect main story like Sandmanin Absolute format. Still an amazing main story just completed right now hard to put down. I will look out for any possible restock or reprints. But for now very satisfied. Thanks Omar for bringing another amazing story to my world. Stay fresh minties.

I bought and read this for your OR/NR show. I enjoyed it, but, other than Wonder Woman and her finally solving a real problem by ending that very real threat, the book left little impression. Having no intention of rereading this, I sold it on ebay a week or two ago. Which I've been doing with everything I couldn't see reading.
Larry, I'm so sorry you didn't like it as much as I did. I love this thing. But good call on selling it if you didn't enjoy it.

One of my favorite stories. Me being a big wonder woman fan, I loved how she wasn't overshadowed by other heroes here like she was in Crisis on Infinite Earths.
It would be great if you can cover the Crisis event right after this one; "FINAL CRISIS".

Do acts of vengeance omnibus for the next retro view. That omnibus had the whole cosmic spidey arc in it. That alone made the omnibus cool.
Humble suggestion for a video: Chronological Reading Checklist (including TPs, HCs and Omnibuses) for THE PUNISHER and SWAMP THING.

I just completed Infinite Crisis again for about the 4th time the other week. It was just as good the 4th time as the first time.

Have the 2nd printing omni and the 52 omni. For me this is essentially the whole DC in one story. An epic that focuses on all aspects of DC, from superheros to spys, from magic to scifi and even the villains. There is nothing that encapsulates DC books like Infinite Crisis.
52 also does the same but in an exact opposite way. While IC focuses on macro, 52 focuses on micro. More personal, more focused story threads. While IC focuses on the past, 52 focuses on the future.
To me; IC and 52 represent the best era of DC.

I love this period in DC comics. I read this omnibus every couple months. I have 1st printing. This is AMAZING Big story. Good to read Identity Crisis before this.
And after that The Fifty-Two Omnibus that is SUPERB!

Happy Easter Omar! Hope you and your family and friends are having a pleasant holiday in these stressful times. We're having a snow storm in Nebraska. I definitely like these retro reviews. I will admit that I am not as big of a fan of DC characters as I was with Marvel, but I am a fan of certain runs. I have been interested in learning more of Jim Shooter's runs on Legion of Superheroes. Was there an Omni of those or something else (if any). Thanks for the show and stay safe.
Also - the Rann Thanagar War was a wasted opportunity. That could have been a story that DC could have milked for years. Reis' art was great on that book, but they threw a curve and put magic/death characters in the book instead of keeping with the political undertones of the Rann-Thanagar War.
I own and plan on reading Identity Crisis, Crisis of Conscience, Countdown to IC, Infinite Crisis, 52, Seven Soldiers, and Final Crisis. Will this work? I’m stressed bc I don’t have the four mini series or single issues and don’t really wanna buy the omni but also have FOMO. Will reading the content I have be satisfactory or will I really be missing out by not reading the mini series’? Thanks!

i'm just watching this video because i just got the book and i wanted to have an idea of what i was getting into. but i wanted to comment on the eternal question 'can i read this if i'm new to comics?'. and i'll be honest here, i'm getting tired of hearing it. at some level, i get why people are asking it, but at the same time, people need to get over the fact that you can't understand every comas and dots that are in a book. who care if you don't know who that 5th level character with 3 lines of dialogues comes from. it might be a wink from the writer for people who will get it, but it's fine if YOU DON'T get it, because that character is there just for the 'wink wing nudge nudge' to fans. the book (especially omnibus) will contain everything you need to understand the story. worst case scenario, just google it. if there's one thing that's up to date on the internet is the character biography from comic books, because we are nerds and a little bit OCD. juste get it, enjoy it, and get strong harms in the process (these things are heavy, man).

Hmmm this is a tough question. My first DC comic was Crisis on Infinite Earths 8. I was lost like hell, but it pushed me to find out more and more. Really the only thing I advice reading before this is Crisis on Infinite Earths. This Omnibus has all the lead ins to this series and will help guide you. You won’t know all the characters and that’s okay.
@@NearMintCondition when i read Crisis On Infinite Earth, i only new Batman and Superman, and was aware of the likes of Flash and Green lantern, but never actually read anything with them. but i still adored the series and has you said, pushed me to find out more about the other characters. But if i hadn't, the series would've still be excellent and i still ha d a great time reading it

Una amiga me acaba de regalar una edición xp de crisis de identidad( son 960 pags pq abarca extras y demas) y querria continuar con crisis infinita. Vale, el caso es q en españa editaran eso en 6 tomos de50€ lo q se irá hasta 300 pavos q es mucho dinero y todos estamos pobres. La pregunta era si crees que el omnibus americano( pese a que losnumeros de jla se repiten) encajaria bien si lo leyes tras leer esta ed xp de crisis de identidad. Saludos!
Infinite crisis is a great story. It just gets bogged down by the supplemental material. The first 2 arcs are badass then the secret six arc drowns it down and then the rann thanagar war is just bleh but it picks up right after that.
I agree about the Rann Thanagar war, but Villains United to me was so badass.
I'm going to buy it but I really hate that softer material hardcover. It's the same with final crisis and it is so stressfull to travel with. I am always afraid it will get damaged

Hey Omar. Thanks for this video. I only have the basic TPB and a couple of the other lead-in stories. Speaking as more a Marvel guy, I would respectfully disagree with your suggestion regarding "Crisis On Infinite Earth". From my experience, I wouldn't recommend it as a starting point because it's just so epic and complex for a newbie. My brain hurt after reading it lol. Those other trades you mentioned might be less to take in for a new reader. I've read COIE twice and probably need another read to get my head fully around it lol.

This looks great. I have the trade paperback. Love this story. The ending is so sad. Power girl is one of my all time favorite heroes. The moment of power girl and OG Superman is so touching and heartfelt as well as heart breaking.

I've been going through most of ur videos, and from what I got so far, is to read Flash rogue war that leads into villains united. Adam Strange planet heist leads into Rann Thanagar war. So what do I need before Omac Project and Day of Vengeance?

Hey there! The best advice I can give. To prepare for this even is at least read the original Crisis on Infinite Earths. Most of the other things you will need are here.

brother i got the new 2020 version and finally opened it up and started reading it. holy moly maybe it's just my copy but this is my first "mousetrap" book that has impossibly tight binding, really small eye and hard to read i feel like i'm damaging it just holding the front cover open
The 2020 version is like that??! You figure by now, they would have figured out how to make a book that size stay opened. Superman Batman is built great.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think the "History of the DC Universe" backups are actually in Countdown to Final Crisis, not 52 like you said.
They were in 52. They wanted to rewrite some of the origins. Because the same writers that worked on 52 also did the origin stories. Countdown had something else.

I heard you mention in this review that the new Omnibus printing of Geoff Johns Flash run is mapped differently?
As far as I can see the new Flash Omnibus 1 has the same mapping as old vol 1 & 2 Regarding the material so far collected. 🤔

Thomas Judge Yeah but you might not realize why the new Vol 1 is so thick.. originally Vol 1 was super thin omnibus about the size of regular oversized hardcover with Vol 2 and 3 more the size of regular Omnibus but still on the smaller side. As far as I can see the new vol 1 just contains old vol 1 material plus most of old vol 2.. it looks like they are just trying to release the originally collected material in two regular sized Omni rather than the smaller three. Only thing I’m not 100% sure on is the mapping. Hopefully Omar can inform and enlighten us on the mapping of new vol 1 in comparison to old Vol 1& 2 🤞🤓
So that's exactly what they are doing. they are redoing the omnis of Flash by Johns to include more books (assuming they do a third volume that is the Barry Allen stuff leading up to Flashpoint).
