You guys, as EVERYONE else has said, should check out Skull Island!
Not only are none of the characters carried over from that film, and NOT ONLY is it not really like any other Kong movie before it (I’d say it’s closest to all the cool stuff from the beginning of Peter Jackson’s King Kong, without all the boring classic King Kong crap from the end), it’s just a genuinely good movie. Like, I think it’s the best standalone entry in this universe by a wide margin. Great cast, good flick, definitely check it out 👍
You guys didn't watch Skull Island first. Wow. It does NOT follow the typical Kong story. It's different, has things happen in it that leads to these others, even leads into the previous one. This Kong is way different, far larger and smarter and they do not end up in New York. You all messed up.
Godzilla never wanted to kill Kong, he just wanted Kong to admit that HE was the one in charge, that he was the alpha. Of course, Kong himself is also an alpha where he's from (the Hollow Earth) so there was no way he was going to submit to anyone, not even Godzilla. They are both as stubborn as each other.

As cool as Godzilla is, that scene where Kong tears that flying monster's head off and eats it, still probably my favorite in the whole franchise so far.

A must watch at some point especially if you like monster movies or Kong in general.
Surprisingly they don’t do the beauty and beast plot line in Kong: Skull Island. And nobody from this film except for Kong was in it. In that film, we get a cast consisting of Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, and John C. Reilly. But my point is at the time that Kong: Skull Island was released, it was something completely different from what we’re used to watching in a King Kong film. And without going into spoilers in the case that you guys decide to watch it at some point, the post-credit scene in Kong: Skull Island foreshadows Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
And unlike ALL of the Godzilla movies, Kong; Skull Island MADE MONEY.

Godzilla 2014, KSI, and GvK all made similar amounts of money. Shin godzilla did pretty well and the recently released godzilla minus one literally stormed the box office even though they only had 15 million dollars in budget so idk about godzilla movies "not making money"

You are my guys but it kills my soul that you didn’t watch Kong: Skull Island before this. It’s literally the introduction to this Universe’s King Kong. Having that introduction and character building makes this movie even better. At least watch it as a prequel to this one for your OctoKrool brethren.

@@acdcguy18 Yes I know, but I never saw the video yet. As I said I wanna watch this video but it feels weird to watch it knowing they’ve never seen Kong Skull Island yet. I read the other comments and was filled in on what they said. It still doesn’t excuse the mistake they made by not watching the movie. They literally thought it was going to be a big carbon copy of the other King Kong films (which it wasn’t). I still like these guys, and I’ll still watch their videos, it’s just this video that has me on the fence of watching it. The whole point of Kong Skull Island was to show this wasn’t the same King Kong we were all used to. This is a different Kong. One with a more in-depth backstory whose place in the Monsterverse helps bring out more to the franchise.

Yeah the reasons they gave were pretty lame they assumed it was gonna be the same thing as the 1930’s, 1970’s, and 2005 movie. Shipping crew find island, girl among the group is to be sacrificed to Kong as a bride, Kong likes the girl and protects her with all his life, gets taken to New York City, escapes and rampages to find his girl, climbs building, gets shot down, and dies. Nope. Not even close. Kong got the Godzilla treatment. Appear, fight monster, and reign supreme.

Not even a good reason to skip Kong: Skull Island. I would use the argument that Godzilla shows up, fights monsters, causes chaos, leaves. Kong is part of the shared cinematic universe and introduces us to the Skullcrawlers

Obviously, Skull Island is in the series and worth a watch. And I think the original Godzilla film, Shin Godzilla, and then, the psychedelic Hedorah, are worth looking into
The Godzilla fest short movies on the official Godzilla channel (they are the videos that are about 8-12 minutes long) are really worth watching especially the Hedorah and Jet Jaguar vids.

Skull Island was very different from all of the other Kong movies in the way that Iron Man was different from other superhero movies... It created the bridge between other monsters

I love that the second Ghidorah is resurrected as Mechagodzilla, he immediately tries to get revenge on Godzilla for killing him
Let's not also forget that the head that was used for Mechagodzilla was the left most head, which is widely considered to be the dumb, goober of the three and is pretty much called "Kevin" by the fans. 😅😂🤣

Im actually kinda disappointed by it. Mecha Godzilla and Mecha Ghidora are supposed to be seperate characters. So I thought they were pretty lazy with it. I wouldve loved to see mecha ghidora appear. Now we have essentially lost the chance and are relying upon kaiju King Lui. Im sure its due to not having the rights to the character properties but.... im still disapointed. Like why go for the franchise if you cannot use them all. Thats my own opinion though. To each their own. If you wanna like it you can.

14:31 - It’s a bit more nuanced than just learning the language, it’s a matter of trust. Kong knew the little girl for a while and probably sympathized with her being the last of her people, just like he’s the last of his kind. That doctor is probably the one who taught them both sign language, but Kong didn’t want to talk to her likely because he associates her with the group keeping him trapped at the beginning.
I think you guys would enjoy skull Island it has the best human cast great fight scenes and parts of the story that tied in directly to this movie even if y'all don't react to it I'd suggest checking it out
I agree with many others in the fact that you haven't seen Kong Skull Island, between Kong and Godzilla, you will find that they are both protectors, to a degree, but there has to be a "Top Dogg" which is what I think that you saw between the fight between the two, also my assumption as to why Godzilla only roared in Kongs face after their fight, it wasn't to destroy but establish rank in a sense; very similar to the submissive act shown by the other creatures at the end of the previous movie.

The thing I love about this movie that you guys sorta touched is how it intentionally tricks the audience. Godzilla is the ONLY one that has the full picture and is doing what’s right while we’re made to follow Kong and miss how he and the humans with him are being manipulated

I love the fact that Ghidora was not only so powerful but hated Godzilla so much that he took over Mechagodzilla just to run it back with Godzilla and try to kill him.

I love how you can read between the lines of why Godzilla didn’t continue to beat on Kong like he did with Ghidorah. He knew he already made a killing blow (if it wasn’t for the humans Kong would have died), but unlike Ghidorah, who routinely tries to run away when being overpowered, Kong stood his ground and roared back. Godzilla have him a nod of respect, as if to say, “I’m sorry it came to this”, then went off to continue his mission of preventing King Ghidorah’s resurrection. Godzilla only attacks Kong cause the longer Kong continues to run around, it makes Godzilla look weak to other titans.
Heck, when Godzilla comes back to him after they team up, he’s not aggressive, almost asking Kong to just drop the axe and yield. “Listen son, you’re a good kid, but you ain’t got what it takes to be king, yet. You’re what, a hundred? Im over a billion. So just drop the axe and yield. Don’t need to make a big thing of it”

Kong: Skull Island is nothing like any other Kong movie
The severed head became the property of Apex Cybernetics and was brought to their secret facility in Hong Kong. In Godzilla Vs. Kong, Ghidorah's skull and the latent psychic powers the space dragon possessed were used by Apex to control Mechagodzilla.
It turned out Ghidorah's consciousness wasn't completely dead, only dormant within the psychic abilities that Apex was tapping into. When the Hollow Earth energy was integrated into Mechagodzilla, Ghidorah's consciousness reawakened and took control of Mechagodzilla's robotic body. When Mechagodzilla charged up to full power and came online, Ghidorah's mind was totally in control
Remember, it's Ghidora co troling MechaG. That's why he's beating Godzilla so brutally and partially ignores Kong; becouse he remembers KILLING HIM!
In the comics, and books, someone from Kongs species killed some of of Godzilla's species, so Godzilla wanted revenge
I always feel that final scene with Kong dropping the axe and Godzilla walking away had vibes of "You know what, I'm too old and too tired for this shit again. Lets just call it a draw today on account of robots."
I know plenty of others have said this already, but not watching skull island beforehand is criminal. It’s arguably the best Monsterverse movie as a standalone movie.

Just so you guys are aware- you have to remember King Ghidora was telepathic. His three heads used telepathy to communicate with each other. So since they used his skull to create a telepathic interface for the pilot, plus using the much stronger power source from hollow earth, it allowed King Ghidoras conscious to telepathically take over the mecha. I hope that helps clear it up

Gidorah's heads comunicate telepaticaly. They usad a skull to telepaticaly control the Mecha. But then the remaining of Gidorah's mind took control of the Mecha. Basicaly Apex gave Gidorah a new body
The Ghidorah skull that is used for MechaGodzilla is from the head that Godzilla ripped off in "King of the Monsters". There was a post credit scene showing the villain guy buying the severed head from a group of fisherman. That being said, when they got the Hollow Earth energy, Ghidorah was able to reawaken and take control of MechaGodzilla.

My dudes! In order to understand the plot of the Monsterverse, you need to watch Kong: Skull Island first! Which was released in 2017. Then the 2014 Godzilla, then the 2019 KOTM and then the 2021 Godzilla vs Kong. It'll makes perfect sense in how Kong has evolved!
