Just picked one of these up after watching the review. Got really tired of getting partial fills, from my local range or having to make a 90 minute round trip to my nearest dive shop. This compressor works extremely well, build quality is excellent and it’s quiet in operation. Biggest thing for me is having my own, reliable air source as and when I need it, both at home and out in the field. Thanks for a very thorough and accurate review. Cheers from U.K.

Water filters are important with compressed air .
I’m involved in mechanical repair, auto body repair, and automated packaging equipment, as well as PCP .
We use refrigerated dryers, expansion tanks and filters .
I use a big inline filter with active charcoal and filter pads on each end , to hold the charcoal in .
My pcp filter pads get soaked especially in humid weather, no way you want water inside any mechanical design unless it’s a water pump , yeah I also work with big irrigation pumps .
Great review , but consider using a filter for more consistent performance and longevity.
The cool down time might also relate to the core and windings getting too warm .
If electrical components get hot they start using more amps and generate more heat , leading to higher and higher temps and current draw that can damage wires or windings ( depending on motor design ) .

I to own a trail charger and love it.. one thing I noticed yours has a different coolant cap steve to my uk bought one.(Gilbert distribution uk) mine has just a plain sight glass cap.?
I’ve done a few modifications to mine aswell like added a hour meter that only runs with green button, and mounted my PSU to the side as I will never use the 12v option...good video steve there a great little compressor

  • @toasty4000000
    @toasty4000000 4 года назад +2

You car battery goes faster because it can actually put out a ton more power than a 120V to 12V converter can. Your 120V breaker is probably 15A, 20A at best (which means 2400W TOPS, likely 1800W). Then the converter is lossy, you probably lose 25% in conversion (so 1350-1800W tops), and that thing probably isn't even pulling that.
Compare that to your car battery which is natively 12V and can output hundreds to thousands of amps easily. 1000A is not absurd, which is 12,000W.
I would probably advise having your car running when you pump to prevent running your battery down.

The company that makes the Omega makes the GX cS3. One is fan cooled and the other water. The company that is making theses compressors use good quality parts. That's from my understanding reading online..and other videos

I have one now and love it. Just wish they would have put an hour meter on it. You have to keep track of the run time to keep up with the maintenance schedule. Other than that it seems to be GREAT!

I think oil is the main concern more than moisture. Oil will get into your valve stem tiny orings and cause them to slip in between and get cut.

You left out the Omega Air Charger which really is the sweet spot for the airgun guy who doesn't need to take it on the road. It is $300 more but has an 8 hour continuous duty cycle. I've got over 1.5 years on it and well over 30 operational hours. It just keeps working. So if a person can fork over $1150 or so, it is simply the best thing I own in airgunning.

Steve, by now you surely have had adequate time with most of all the compressor options on the market and because I value your opinion I have to know... What is the best option for longevity and low maintenance for a guy that will never fill anything other than a couple of rifles 4-5 times a weekend? No tanks, no buddy bottles, Just directly filling rifles. I think I have it narrowed down between the nomad 2 and the omega travel charger in this video. But maybe there is a better option? Maybe there isn't lol The money between those two isn't really the issue I just want something that will last.

Looks like a nice air compressor. I would disagree with the desiccant setup as air compressors like my
mrod air airmax system I bought years ago bypasses oil as well as water. I have had to replace aluminium parts due to corrosion and using a cheap desiccant with a paper filter keeps it out of the gun. I also have a high end filter on this system but have never had to replace the filter due to changing desiccant and the tiny paper when needed.

john, not sure about your android, but make sure you tap the little ^ button on the right side of the video description, it should drop down the links and more text...maybe that’s it?

Any compressor that sounds like this when it runs is destined to die.... much like your NOMAD unit you reviewed which frankly, might be the biggest fail in air gunning in the last two years.

Nomad unit "mine?" No, I'm just a reviewer. The Nomad belongs to Air Venturi and the Omega line belongs to Precision Airgun Distribution. I haven't read much negative on the Nomad II and have seen lots of happy users on the forums. On the Omega, I'm finding lots of positive owner reports the past 2 years and no negative. Hope this helps, Steve

lol, think the unit is already sold to a viewer... AOA is sending a drop ship label to me for it for them. Betcha they got a nice price on a new unit with 3 hrs on it :-) Steve
