I love watching this lady. She's always happy and makes everything look so easy. Plus there is just something really likable about her. Thanks for the lessons, the inspiration and the encouragement.
Love the ease with which these videos work - no complicated instructions; down-home style, straight to the point and not a lot of blah blah blah at the beginning!
I tried sewing flying geese 15 years ago and hated them! I decided this was the year to give it another try. Your video made it easy to understand. Thank you!
I purchased both of Eleanor's flying geese rulers because of YOUR GREAT VIDEO. Making a queen size quilt right now with big stars using 4 flying geese per block. Thank you for showing us how to use tools like these to make accurate sewing/cutting. I love all your videos and made many bed quilts from your fun videos. Next quilt is your double square block. I never get tired of seeing your lovely personality on the web.
Jenny I agree with you Eleanor was the very first quilter that I watched on tv...also love her and your tutorial...makes a great way to learn how to do things... both of you keep up the wonderful work.. maybe one day I will get to meet both of you
I have tried several methods but Jenny you have shown me the best method yet.so easy and so very economical and time saving too. I have sewn a whole lot with your method without Eleanors Tool and your method can be employed with or without this tool. Awesome !!!
I bought these at rulers at a craft fair about 3 years ago and couldn't figure out the instructions. It just didn't click. So I stumbled on your tutorial and now I get it. Thank you, you're such a good teacher.
Thanks for the tutorial. Now I know what my next quilt will have in it . I love Eleanor Burns, she is so kind. It was really nice of her to let you do this tutorial.
It was so fun to see this "old" video! This was an excellent one but through the years, your videos have improved. Your voice even sounded different. . . Thanks for such wonderful lessons.
I love this method! I used it to make a Quatrefoil quilt for my granddaughter. The geese turn out so nicely because there are no bias edges on the corners!
Jenny you always teach me something new and exciting to want to try. Being new to quilting you make it seam doable for even a beginner. Love your tutorials!
Love ALL the videos PLEASE PLEASE keep posting...I love the rulers and how to use them and the flying geese made easy is great...The large Star quilt is what im working on as we speak, thank you so much I would have never made this one...Some people just know how to TEACH and your fantastic at it!!!!Sandi from Maine
Hi Jenny - Well let me say - when I saw this video (having just made a Canadian Flying Geese Quilt for a friend) I totally agree with you that it is labour intensive - thought so beautiful - but never again. Well I watched this video and you are amazing. I ordered the small and the large - they came and I decided to see how difficult it would be to do. Thought you might be exaggerating. YOU WERE NOT - YOU are SO AMAZING - they turned out beautiful and now I cannot wait to make more for my quilt.
Ms Jenny, I am just in awe of your talent. No matter what I am looking for I can find it in one of your videos. I went and ordered these templates just now and they were on sale... even better.. Think you will be quilting my Christmas quilt gifts this year too!! I am running outta time !! LOL Thank you for sharing your amazing talent ...
Hi Jenny. Just a note to say to every one to use your white fabric to cut the larger square. I did it the other way and my geese are white instead of colored. Duh! Oh well.... I can still use them in something but this is such a quick way to do flying geese. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you so much for your lovely tutorials. Now, somewhere I have the stencils for the flying geese. I just love the way you make it easy and fun yet it always looks great.
I just love the way you just made these, I am so bad at this, no matter how much I try so thank you Jennie, will try to get those rulers as we have the Festival of Quilts arriving in Auckland next weekend and will hunt them out! And I love you!!!
Love this method and Jenny showing Eleanor's tool. Please add Invisigrip to your tool! It would stop it from sliding around. AND you would sell more of it. Thanks for all your you-tube videos.
Hi Jenny! I have already ordered the ruler and can't wait to try this! You make it look so fun (always!) I just want to thank you for your wonderful tutorials. I feel like I have some real skills under my belt now, thanks to you! (I have some lovely plaids in my stash that were just waiting to become 'geese'! Thank you!!!) Michelle from Nevada
Goodness, that was awesome thank you so much for those easy tips. I learn how to make quilts by looking and they look good but I still have alot to learn. Thank you, thank you again. Keep up the good work.
It's now 2018, and wow time does fly. I just watched your "one seam flying geese, 2018" right before this video and you are just as great now as you were then. However, technology is so much better. I love the older iron, no large sewing machine plate, video quality, long arm in the background, and... You used pins and scissors! I watch a video every morning to get me going. Please continue to bring us the cutting edge (lol) tools and great new fabrics. Now, should I use my EB ruler or the one seam technique? Maybe some of both!
I liked your well explained and simple tutorial as always... I have tried some of them and it was full of fun... But still I want your video about perfect lyning a big quilt.
I have these, but would like to know how big to cut the two squares to obtain the size geese I need for what a pattern call for. What is the formula? If you can't tell, I haven't been piecing very long.
Jenny is this the method that lead to the four squares on the large one? I think I like this one better. Another good trim ruler is the Wing Clipper from Deb Tucker.
only difference would suggest adding a starter scrap to help with the threads when turning and some sandpaper dots under the ruler helps it to stay in place better....best part was the turning mat...now THAT would have made doing this really easy. thanks
Jenny - always the clearest instructions on the web. I have a different flying geese ruler - the Fons and Porter. Do you think I could adapt these instructions to that ruler? I think the one thing I would need would be the starting dimensions of the fabric. I tried it but my fabric was 6" and 5" - not quite right. What do you think about adapting to another ruler? Hate to have more than one for the same general function. Thank you! Susan
Hi Jenny! You have taught me so much and I’m so grateful. I have a question. If I want to make a 2 1/2” X 4 1/2” unfinished (2” X 4” when finished) what size squares will I need to use? I really appreciate your help bc this is the easiest way I’ve ever seen. Thank you!
Wow! No more dog ears on the corners lol. Guess I need to order those. If you could have seen the disaster my quatrefoil became. Well...live and learn ...and use the right tools :)
You make it look so easy, I live in Tasmania Australia, I am fairly certain that they do not sell the rulers you use...Could you tell me where to buy them from in USA please?
Great tutorial, thank you! When I'm quilting, I have the hardest time making sure I'm actually getting a good 1/4 inch seam. I always seem to be off. Could you do a tutorial on how to determine where 1/4 inch is on the sewing machine? Love your videos! Thank you for posting them!
This is the hardest for me as well. I cannot see the plate markings when the fabric is close to them, and the only guide is at the bottom of the plate! I also do not want to put any kind of tape on my machine to mark the measurement.. I have ended up using a quarter-inch foot. I have had less problems finding the markings on my old Singer Featherweight, but bought a new Janome 3160 in order to embroider. In many ways, the older machines are easier to use.
Hi Missouri Star Quilt Company !!! I am a self taught sewer and very new to all this, I want to make my son a flying geese quilt with lots of different kinds of fabric and I definitely want to go the precut route, would you suggest layer cakes or charm packs or maybe something else for to use for these geese? Thanks so much on the great videos!
I get how to make the flying geese, but when you sew them together, there is no 1/4" seam allowance on the sides, so the side points get cut off. Am I seeing this correctly?
Judy Ford due to the angle you'll still have a point because when you sew 1/4 inch seam on each side and then the 1/4 inch seam on the bottom it'll still create the points
Hi, I loved your tutorial in 5" half hex but have no idea where to purchase it. In fact quite a few tutorials half wonderful templates but I cannot find them here. Scotland UK. I would be obliged if you could assist in this matter. Elizabeth
You say "I really like these scissors" and "these are those great pens I love" but you don't tell us what kind they are, or where to get them and they're not in the links. Can you help me out with this please. I have an order waiting to go but would like to see those before I finish. Thanks.
...I am so embarrassed. I actually have had one of those rulers for a few years now, never opened it until now, and behold, there are the directions and the sizes. That being said, wow, I got four squares done in no time. I think I'm going to have a new project before too long. :)😅
Wow. Another great trick from Jenny. She never ceases to amaze and never dissapoints.
I love watching this lady. She's always happy and makes everything look so easy. Plus there is just something really likable about her. Thanks for the lessons, the inspiration and the encouragement.

This is a fabulous video. With this ruler it is so easy to make flying geese.
This method for doing geese looks so much better than the other way I was taught! Will have to try it.
I have tried several methods but Jenny you have shown me the best method yet.so easy and so very economical and time saving too. I have sewn a whole lot with your method without Eleanors Tool and your method can be employed with or without this tool. Awesome !!!

11 yrs ago? Lol
I used this tutorial a few years ago and I'm about to use it again! You guys are by far one of my favorite channels t get advice from!
Yes, yes, I just saw this last night and now I have a viedo that I can watch over and over. Thank you Jenny Doan.
It was so fun to see this "old" video! This was an excellent one but through the years, your videos have improved. Your voice even sounded different. . . Thanks for such wonderful lessons.

Hey Jenny!! I love doing flying geese!! My daughter and I appreciate your tutorials so much!!

The best flying geese tutorial ever ! Thank you !
I have suffered with getting flying geese exactly right. Tried several different methods, this is the best method yet.
I have this. now I know how to use this. LOL Jenny, keep on teaching. You are so good at what you do.

Thanks Jenny and Eleanor! I love this pattern, but found all those triangles intimidating. You may have just given me the courage to try it out.
Loved this, will watch it over again, & have a go when I have more time to play with......thank Jenny so much.
I still love the flying geese pattern. Since I added sticky plastics to prevent the ruler from slipping, I love it even more.😊
Ms Jenny, I am just in awe of your talent. No matter what I am looking for I can find it in one of your videos. I went and ordered these templates just now and they were on sale... even better.. Nice
Love You Jenny Dean, you make everything Sewwwwwww Easy!!!
Great way for flying geese.

great tutorial. I always wondered how these rulers worked. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your lovely tutorials. Now, somewhere I have the stencils for the flying geese. I just love the way you make it easy and fun yet it always looks great.

Awesome method of cutting flying geese.
Thanks Joan. I have to have that ruler... going on line to order it now.. I hate making flying geese but this looks fast and SO accurate.
I'm going to try and make a template or 2 for these. Thanks for the great tutorial! Hello to Ellenor!
Another winner!

I love MSQCompany! You are fabulous!

I love this tutorial :)
THANKS..SO FAR AWAY and watching and teachung..
Very helpful!
I will definitely have to get one of those and then find a tutorial for a quilt to make.
I have these, but would like to know how big to cut the two squares to obtain the size geese I need for what a pattern call for. What is the formula? If you can't tell, I haven't been piecing very long.

me gusta mucho como lo haces, de que medida queda el vuelo de la oca.
Hi Jenny. Can you please do a wonky flying geese tutorial? I`m a bit confused by foundation paper piecing.
You said that you love your scissors, what brand are they ? Love you
When making the smaller one, (the line up lines on the left of the tool). How do you trim up the bottom fabric?
Thanks,
Craig in Missouri

Hello , what's this template for this " flying geese " . Thank you very much.
Hi, I loved your tutorial in 5" half hex but have no idea where to purchase it. In fact quite a few tutorials half wonderful templates but I cannot find them here. Scotland UK.
I would be obliged if you could assist in this matter.

What was the size of the finished flying geese
You say "I really like these scissors" and "these are those great pens I love" but you don't tell us what kind they are, or where to get them and they're not in the links. Can you help me out with this please. I have an order waiting to go but would like to see those before I finish. Thanks.
I believe that Jenny uses a Frixion Pen. The marks will be "erased" when you apply heat from your iron.
...I am so embarrassed. I actually have had one of those rulers for a few years now, never opened it until now, and behold, there are the directions and the sizes.
That being said, wow, I got four squares done in no time. I think I'm going to have a new project before too long. :)😅
hi Jenny
I really want buy that rullar set
can u send me
I will pay for it
When you say "line up the edges," what edges are you talking about? It's when you're about 3 minutes in the video. Thank you!
Hello, I want to make a basket with flying geese, but don't get the hang of it, can you please show me how.
Love your tutorials but this ruler seems to lead to so much wasted fabric. Thanks anyway!
Very complicated
Desperdício de tecido.
Seems like a lot of work for 4 geese, I think my way is much quicker...
with zero waste.
What a difference to your current videos.
