*Hall Of The Mountain King* is one of the most epic old-school type metal albums ever made, and will always be my favorite Savatage album. Then the early 2 pre-Atlantic albums would round out my top 3. Still an amazing band, even after they started including the operatic themes and later the more prog themes. Never quite the same after Criss left us (RIP), but still one of the greats.
Great video to keep this highly under appreciated band out there to the masses who may have missed out. Good analysis of how they morphed through their career. Their post-Criss albums didn't quite have the 'deep cuts' that the earlier albums contained. Each album in that era had bangers though. Every rock fan should listen to Criss' guitar playing at least once in their lives!
@greggom656 thanks! Yeah after Criss died savatage became more progressive lots of narrative and story in their work. You can hear a lot of what would be TSO. They all had highlights for sure. Handful of Rain sticks out because it's bluesy based but that's the great Alex Skolnick for you.
@@retro_wanderluster9962 I don't think any band they play on Liquid Metal was ever considered a "radio" band. Metal was always on the fringes, especially in the good ol' days, that's part of what made metal cool.
