      And 5 years later I still end up cutting my nails. This video helped me bid more time but not enough to have my broken nail grow all the way out. I get air pockets on the edge of my nail and the sikwrap ends up peeling off. Re applying it too much of a hassle.

    I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for doing this series. A couple of weeks ago I ended up breaking two nails within 24 hours of one another - one was a full break and the other was a corner break. Because I had seen your video of repairing a full break, I was able to modify your method to make it work for me (I didn't have the gel system or silk wraps, but I had a tea bag, nail glue, and the Orly Rescue powder). If I hadn't seen you save your full break, I probably would've just cut back all my nails and been very sad about it for a month while they grew back out. Next time I get into a Sally's I'm going to look for the non-UV gel system because I love how transparent your patches look. Thanks again!

    This is such a helpful video. I had a corner break off today and don't know where it went and I didn't want to cut them all down just for that one corner... so I searched and here you are! I even have that ASP lightless gel and silk wraps so I am going to do this.

    I'm old, in the 70's we used coffee filters with base coat or then crazy glue after that was invented! cheap ones better as they are thinner and if buffed well they don't show much even leaving just a clear coat.

    OMG. I just randomly found your video and I gotta say, first of all I'm totally jealous of your square nails...like so jealous that I want those nails. lol
    Secondly, thank u so much for this tutorial. I didn't know that you could repair chipped nails. Usually I just cut my nails off when they break but this looks so awesome.
    My nails curl inwards and that was how I found your video and then I saw few more videos and they are so informative. I've never really taken great care of my nails ever. And you just showed me a new love for taking care of nails.
    Love it. Hope to see more tutorials

    I have learned so much in just 3 video views. I don't have a problem growing my nails long but when I have a break it is a complete one and at my fingertip. I have been cutting all the nails down. I didn't even know they could be repaired. I will give repairing the nail a try. At least I can get use to the idea of cutting it later. I appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. They are very easy to understand and it is easy to see what you are doing.

Thank you so much for showing your tips and tricks on nails. I didn't even know it was possible to fix a broken nail or chipped nail in a more natural way than just getting them redone or acrylic. I have another tip! I had super dry brittle thin nails,and I heard about a product that sounded like a nail saver! People said it made your nails strong and long, and that it conditioned your cuticles! I didn't believe all the good reviews, but I ordered some and tried it, after a month my nails were stronger and growing out longer than I had ever been able to before! I highly recommend, the product is Bliss Kiss Simply Pure hydrating nail and cuticle oil, do your nails a favor and try it! I'm addicted, one broken nailie to another! Xx

    i love your videos, i never thought about your hands being dry, it amazes me what people have to comment on.. it seems to me it takes more energy to point out something wrong then to just say great job, or just something nice in general..just want to let you know you inspire me to do my nails ( even though i rarely get around to it), there may be hope for my nail polish obsession.. quick question, i read somewhere you can only keep nail polish for like a year, how true is that?

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  10 лет назад +3

      NOT true at all! I have some polishes that are close to 20 years old & fine. Depending on the formula they may thicken but just get some polish thinner. i have really weak nails, are you able to just use the ASP light-less gel by itself to make the nails stronger or do you have to use the wraps/tabs with it for it to work properly?

    • @opioids7837
      @opioids7837 9 лет назад +2

      The wraps aren't necessary if its just for general strength. You can use the gel and activator without any wrap. It works well if you plan on growing them, but the nail itself under the gel coat will still be weak. Try using olive oil and sea salt soaks and take biotin daily, it helps build natural strength :) hope this helps!

    This is fascinating, clearly explained & super useful! 💜 I only grow out my nails a few times a year because they're crappy & dude, massive respect for all these nail art folks who can function with nails longer than a few centimeters! All I get done is thrashing them against every available surface, lol...maybe now I can keep them grown out for a bit longer. Also, as stated, my nails are awful, & they enjoy tearing & breaking even when short! I really like the idea of building out a fugitive corner with gel & silk. I went through your set of mending videos & am on the way to your recommended one--thanks much for sharing this. I know it was made a while ago but hey, still good info! 💜💅💜

    Hey!! I've got myself a full break and it's my birthday month so I don't want to lose the length. Do you think this would hold up for a full tip since its kind of like gel sculpting when you go get your nails done? Or do you have any other suggestions? Collette, from start to finish, when you are all alone without camera, how long does it take to do your nail prep to recieve polish? I'm guessing at least an hour. And then for plain polish, including Seche Vite, how long for that before you can walk out the door? You are truly a master of natural nails. I'm thinking you are a salon pro.

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  7 лет назад

      Oh, not long at all. I don't have a very long prep routine - after I take a mani off I usually use a sugar scrub & do my cuticles etc - maybe 15 mins on the slow side. Filing when necessary, but that's not all the time maybe 5-15 mins. And then before I polish I just swipe my nails with acetone to make sure they're fully clean. I can do a plain mani (base, 2 coats of color, top with seche) in about 15-20 mins depending on how neat I am & if I need to do any cleanup around the cuticles. And with seche vite I can literally walk out the door 5 mins after finishing

    great tutorial! I had no idea this was possible. one suggestion to help us see the transparent gel nail better, perhaps you can have a black piece of paper nearby so the clear tip can stand out and be more visible. Idk if this will really work, just an idea, but it's prob better than the white background. anyway, keep up the great work!

    How long do these patches last? I've tried the teabag and glue method but they barely last a day...

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  8 лет назад +1

      Mine will usually last several weeks, up to about a month if I take really good care of them

    Q: is it better for the nail to apply the silk from the cuticle or just the tip and gel directly on the bed of the nail? Which option is easier to remove and less harmful for the natural nail?
    Thanks.

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  10 лет назад

      I generally don't apply the patch all the way to my cuticle, although I do get the gel as close as possible - I seem to get less lifting that way. I don't think either way is necessarily more or less harmful

    I love your videos. Quick question. How do you keep your lightless gel bottle from clogging up. No matter what I do mine always clogs

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  10 лет назад

      when I'm done with it, I stand it upright & squeeze - so that air goes through & kind of clears out the tip. It usually works, although I have had to poke the back open (I think I used a needle) before too

    Do you know of a way to brighten the free portion of the nails? My nail beds are a darker pink like an american manicure but without the creamy white edges. Thx

      there are a lot of home-made nail whitening methods - from lemon/citrus to whitening toothpaste. I don't usually bother since mine are always painted, but I'm sure a google search would turn up many more options too

    Thank you! I applied my first two patches today. My problem was the brush I used to spread out the glue. What kind of brush do you use? Also how do you keep the brush from gluing together immediately or in between layers? Thank you!

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  10 лет назад +1

      Krinnielee I just use an old polish brush - I fill the old polish bottle with acetone to keep it from getting too stiff & wipe it off before I use it

      squeeza mama I think there is a kit, but I generally buy mine separately. I think the kit comes with nail tips which I don't need, and doesn't include the silk wraps

    I have been patching nails now instead of cutting them off but I usually do the silk & glue. My issue is that when I remove the patches my nail which is already thin feels even thinner and more fragile and often times it will break again necessitating another wrap & it's almost like a vicious cycle. Any advice ? I am careful now to try and not over buff etc. thanks for the useful vids :)

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  8 лет назад +1

      I think like you said being careful not to over buff is key - like not to buff any exposed nail when you're buffing the patch down. I have had the same feeling sometimes though, right now I have a small break & I'm trying to hold it with no patch, just glued together, but with gel instead of glue. it's not as strong as a full patch, but it's faster and it's holding OK

    • @hellok1ttyluver
      @hellok1ttyluver 8 лет назад

      My Simple Little Pleasures thanks for replying 😊Fhe last patch I did just covered the small tear so I'll probably just keep doing it that way. Worst yet I also patch my mother's nails and it sometimes seems like I'm patching all the time lol. I will probably even do as your doing and just try and glue the area too. It's a pain removing polish , patching/repatching. The things we do to keep our nails. Subscribed! Thanks and Happy Holidays 🎄🎁
